Interesting. I don´t have any ideas in my head. Everything comes to life when I do things.
Mayby this the result when I gave up thinking and not to analysize anything.

I’ve been making so much more music since downloading Note. I often get overwhelmed opening up a blank project in Live and end up doing nothing, but Note is a much more relaxing way to get started!
Fyi you can remove automation by tapping on the dot that appears next to the dial. It’s a bit glitchy so usually takes me a few taps to get the option to pop up though.

  • @earthboundboy

This is spot on. I’ve started more music on Note in a few weeks than I normally do in.. a year? With no anxiety about whether any of it needs to be finished or developed further.. It’s a paradigm shift.

Definitely understand what you mean Ricky. I have put myself in paralysis from taking music making so seriously. I have a room full of dream synths that I thought would help with the music making process but they just seem to overwhelm and make me overthink at the moment. Essentially that this new track needs to sound amazing because I just spent all this money on this gear. Lately I’ve had everything turned off and just been working in the box to quiet my mind and not have so much pressure. I had note on my phone since it came out and didn’t think of using it for sample recording, so this is blowing my mind because using voice memos was a bit tedious and also didn’t want to carry my big and clunky recorder everywhere either. I have the same microphone, it is clunky but sounds really good !

My Volca sample just arrived today, and I bought it for a similar reason. Not to make complete tracks, just to mess around with as a little inspiration machine. I can shove it in a fanny pack, climb a mountain, and then just make something in a more inspiring environment.

Appreciate and agree with many of your observations. Dloaded Note last night and find it refreshingly deep and immediate. An app based around capture! I do wish for audio and external controllers. Maybe sampling can be a workaround for audio. But external control with natural playing velocity! Thanks for the reflections!

Wisdom was dropped near the end of the video. Reminds me a bit of Victor Wooten. Go explore. So often we get caught up in the comparison game when new gear/apps are released. Explore. Put away the rules and theory. It’s more fun to play than complain.

Note is a slightly better version of iMaschine. I’ve been using iMaschine as a “sketch pad” since 2014. The original was…limited..to say the least, but it let you get some loops down easily and quickly. When they released iMaschine 2, with its best grid, arpeggiator, chord sets, and scenes, it really gave the user more power to create an actual track.
With Note, I feel like they took the framework of IMaschine and imaschine 2 but left out the arpeggiator while adding some Ableton stuff.

I know exactly what you mean about the fantasy of the music and the reality. For me it’s a time thing and I often have more bits of time to look at all the wonderful equip or watch a video or two then to play with any of it. And it’s so frustrating when you say only have an hour and you envision all you can do just to get stuck with a connection issue or something going awry. And then your time is up and you have made nothing
    Ugh I hate that.
I love music memos and was sad to see it stop being supported.
Quick question I use logic ajd also my iPad for recording would this app work with those daws? As I’m I don’t own abelton?
“Sometime the music I create in my mind is better than the actual music I create” love that !! So true

This app is super specific to Ableton Live. i WISH there was a way to easily export them and have them work in other DAWs but i can only see Ableton saying no to something like that since this is a gateway into their eco-system.
You're probably better off with my old way of doing things in Voice Memo and syncing it up. I never used music memos. did i miss out?

    • @MariaCalfaDePaul
      @MariaCalfaDePaul 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@RickyTinez well music memos was fun because it was pretty great at following any groove. It didn’t exactly quantize to the beat but it actually followed you. So it made it quite amazing. You could add drums and bass that way and if you exported it to GarageBand (which I don’t use to much) you had each of them on separate tracks (your playing the drums and the bass )
And that’s a bummer cause I was so impatient to try that I bought it. Ha ha
I guess I’ll find out if they updated it. It actually seems like there is a way to export the Audio. If there is I will let you know. :)

At 7:49 I think I know what’s causing that glitch. I have the same sort of problem with my phone, even outside of Note, and I think the issue is that charging chord. It looks like the same one I have (Amazon?). When my phone is plugged into that chord, the touch screen just goes wild. If I touch one single area, it acts as if I’m sliding all my fingers across the screen. It’s a pain in the ass, especially when trying to type on the keyboard.

i have both and really love koala but ableton note has this awesome feature where it auto picks the BPM when making a start and that feature is pretty amazing. already mailed marek asking for this feature but no luck yet since it he told me the feature was kinda stolen by ableton

It’s a bit closer to picking up an instrument and just jamming, except the instrument is of your creation….

i really don't understand why some people need this or make more music due to ableton note. it's a weird SHIT version of ableton which feels like being forced to a wheelchair while you could actually walk (if i want to make 'mobile' music i have my laptop - e.g. for the train). Even the "translation" of music-ideas to ableton doesnt help... when i m doing a voice-memo for melodies, i m usually NOT needing the wave file imported into a session, but rather listen to the memo again, and playing the chords/melody via midikeyboard... come on. BUT if many of you need and like it ... go on, enjoy it! I just had to get it out that i personally find it utterly useless (and actually a pain in the ass, due to the fact that the developers are bound to this useless project while necessary changes/upgrades/feature requests of the REAL Ableton ,like bounce in place or a better piano roll, are NEGLECTED in the beta forum for years....) Also i m highly disappointed that it isnt at least a touch-control remote surface for ableton - like Touchable Pro. That would have been useful for ipad/tablets/touch-monitors. No, instead of being directly linked to Ableton you have to use a cloud, upload it there, and download it again.
