Its not what it sounds like, its what you do with it. Ignore all the negative comments and enjoy the SH-4d. I will be getting one sometime in 2024 and I could care less if it doesn't sound exactly like something made in the 80's. People who listen to music won't care if the sound is exactly like the original when they are caught up in the music. Sure the SH-4d isn't perfect, but nothing is. Enjoy it.
@@OmBreak I wish it had a joystick for pitch and modulation, that and the ability to add your own waveforms would make it perfect for me. Can't wait till I get one.
It's a great little box... almost like having four Arturia MiniFreaks and one mediocre but still very usable drum machine. But it wasn't intended to be a drum machine so it is in the four synth tracks where the SH-4d truly shines. 32 wavtables.. draw-yer-own.. SH-101 and JUNO 106 emulations... but really... the 4d and 3d engines take the show!! I typically use mine for creating some powerful post-punk basslines, dubby and warbly basses, and for 303/101 style acid!! And the best part is that there is minimal menu diving. 90% of the controls are at your fingertips!! I typically pair mine with a Drumlogue for more robust percussion.. and with a Polyend Play for other samples. Between the three, I'm so confident in my skills and in what these devices can do that I'm thinking about doing some small local live shows in the coming weeks/months!
It could do with a load more PVM sounds in general. Stabs, synths, basses and some of the "classic" sounds that you'd expect on a bopbox like this. @@OmBreak
Every boutique models sounds better than this. The SH4D isn't good for retrò sound. But it's a nice workstation.. 4 tracks..drum and effects all in one..✌🏻
I think it's funny that you're trying to explain how a synth sounds bad to a happy owner. A owner that is actually making music!! This thing sounds great. @@Sandelec-gm2cl
@@bendickens5975 sounds great for contemporary ears. If you know the 80's... and the synths that make electronic music famous in the world... you understand because I say this. If you are a young person..probably for you a Daw is the best companion for a musician. Try ask to the SH4D a sound like a Jupiter 8...or D50. It can't do this..sorry ..

Yes. I really enjoy it. Only wish that its reverb were as smooth as the SH-201's...

@@ccjmusic Maybe you'll like the Drawing OSC Model. ;)

You're right! I love too that you can open delay settings by long-pressing the DELAY button, for example.
awesome sounding
Thanks. Now I'm just getting to know this instrument... :)
Very nice.
...we can hear it, great track.
Thank you. :)
Groovy!!
Yes. ;)
Nice groove. :)
I returned mine to get a Syntakt but I'll be back to get it again someday, I was really amazed by the drum sounds and their editing options
I would be more happy if there were more PCM drum sounds in the SH-4d, but I love it anyway.

It needs way more PCM voices for synths too.@@OmBreak
@@r4x2Yes, for the PCM model.
Yeah I can't wait for them to allow you to import PCM @@Gainn
This sounds really good. Is it recorded stratght out from the sh4d or u mixed in a daw?
Thank you. Yes, it was recorded directly from the SH-4d through USB. No DAW nor any external processing were used.
Lo veo similar al Jupiter xm
Yes, they're similar. But the SH-4d is for less than half of the XM's price...

I' don't think so. I like the SH-4d more than the JP-08 (which I also had), for example. The SH is inspirating me more.
@@OmBreak there is not comparison of JP-08 and SH4D.
JP sounds 80...SH4D sounds 2023.
