Im a 3rd year architecture student. I personally love making things and make more than most of my class mates. You are more capable and work better than some of the best 3rd year and masters architects, no joke. Im very impressed. Your care for details and recording and analysed mistakes are what makes a good architect. I know weapons are fun to make and you learn alot about ergonomics but have you explored other things. You will do great things keep it up.
to fill the voids in your slingshot handles. mix some clear epoxy and add some of your alum filings to make a thick paste. packet into the void ( maybe even drill out the void bigger ) fill until above the surface, let harden then file, sand and buff. Rob.
Great job! One thing I would suggest to make your life SO much easier is to pick up a small angle grinder and some flap wheels....you will save all the labour with the files and stuff....I use them all the time in welding and they are available in various grits from coarse (20 40 60 80) to fine (100 120 180) to super fine (320 and up). Even some fibre discs on a grinder will get that slingshot smooth in 10 minutes.....
arts of weapons I like your videos very much my favorate casting video was the lost foam casting because I thought it was the most accurate way for making things like slingshots
You have done a spectacular job with the things you are doing as well as your video film making expertise! I am in Southeast Missouri, USA and excited to have found your channel. I'm proud of you keep up the excellent work!
for your target practice you can build or buy for fairly cheap a bullet trap. a little .22 cal trap is more than enough for bb guns and slings and allows you to retrieve and reuse so much more ammunition and gives you a nice quick target set up. My shooting club even uses ones made of plywood for the kids to use pellet pistols and pellet rifles and they save so much money from previously lost ammunition
Hey, a tip for you to get even more pure aluminum After you put the borax in, scoop out the impurities, then put in something called "lite salt" in the aluminum. What it does is when u put the salt in the sodium burns off and leave the chlorine from the salt. The chlorine bonds to hydrogen that is in your aluminum and takes it out of the crucible. Just a tip to get even purer casts :)
Have you ever though about using HCl to etch the aluminum and make it look more ornate? I will try and cast using your methods and then upload how to etch the aluminum using acid
The Art of Weapons Be very careful filing aluminum, the dust in the air is explosive. If you use an power tool to sand the cast, it could easily cause a cloud of dust and sparks from the power took could ignite it. I worked in the metal industry and trust me when I tell you this, aluminum dust is explosive when it is suspended in the air. You should also let your subscribers know this.
whenever he removes the deep scratches with the drill sanders he said you can use sand paper is there a specific sandpaper you have to use and also when he uses the wet and dry sand paper to polish it up a bit can i just use various levels of sand sponges?
At 2:46 it that a thrunite neutron I see? I have been forging knives for a while and I am just getting into casting aluminum, thanks for the good tutorial.
Superb. There are some inclusions in your castings, as you recognized. You might need a degasser as well as flux. If you will look at your fellow-countryman *myfordboy*'s channel you will find that he uses baking soda as flux and salt as degasser, (maybe I have it backwards) and talc (baby powder) as parting compound. All available at markets for pence, not pounds. My son and tried this and it worked well. Myforboy has a playlist on backyard casting. Every single video is worth watching.
dude i just started my youtube channel and even tho im older than you i look up to u and your videos :) hopefully one day my videos will get as many hits as yours .. even tho i dont make weapons haha .. also your channel has exploded in the last month congrats nearly 10k subs this month i believe
Are you ever planning to make a video on slingshot aiming and shooting methods?, great video this time and I think it looks better with it being full cast aluminium rather than half :)
Make a full tang knife out of a some old files and it works and it's very hard material perfect for a knife. And if you are doing this can you make a holder for it and maybe a kind of survival or eppocolips kit. Hope you got a idea to do in your video? Keep on your so good to make videos go on!
You are a made it perfectly shiney and appreciate your efforts. I liked it very much and i would like to buy. If possible can you please tell me where can get it. Please please
Thank you for sharing your expertise!🙇♂️☺️ Just one small question: what metalcontainer did you use in the video for pouring in the allunimium? Is it made in iron? So I know what to look for. Hehe 😅 Thanks again for your good explaination and guide. 🙏All good wish luck in the future, you are so talented!💛
well done I work round metal for a living and am impressed with your nolige like the comment on flapper disks thay would be of great yous to you also pencil grinder you would be amazing what you can do with one of those
rick lindt aluminum would not be the best material for a knife as it is a rather soft metal, because of this it would lose its edge very quickly and the forge he has is unable to reach the temperature to melt a harder material like steel :)
Hi! I'm really impressed with what you have achieved and your knowledge base. Has your father helped or influenced in any way or have you researched everything yourself? You asked for any ideas as to what to make, so here is one; how about replacing the wooden rifle stock of an air rifle with one made of aluminium. Obviously there is the issue of weight, but with some clever design I am sure you will make something quite original and ergonomic. Hope you will consider this idea seriously! Regards Ian
I would like to know if you sell your slingshot? If you do, how much would you sell your slingshot. Could you make some modifications to your slingshot?
Amazing stuff sir. As a suggestion; why don't you sell some of the sling shots (unless it is illegal). I think that many of the fans would like to buy them (me included).
Mr Rishi The Cookie selling in the UK probably would bring up legal issues because it would probably be counted as a lethal weapon or something similar. However I don't know how that affects selling online to people outside the UK.
I wish I knew all you know about castings by your age, Im still trying to figure out how to do it properly, I was trying to melt what I think was lead but it went totally wierd for me since it barely melted and it formed somekind of white silk and to be honest I have no idea what happened there LOL
Quite professional..you jealous asshole this youg man is blooding amazing... you wouldn't even know how to start a fire.....a big man is an encouraging man...not a putter downer..
Been watching a lot of casting videos lately, but you are the first who explained how the borax works. Thanks.
Im a 3rd year architecture student. I personally love making things and make more than most of my class mates. You are more capable and work better than some of the best 3rd year and masters architects, no joke.

Great channel! You explain things very well.
I pretty much automatically like your videos, because I know I'm going to like them without even having to watch them. You should do a tanto knife.
Anti tanto tanto
steelsmiter Thanks!
I will have a look into making a tanto knife!
The Art of Weapons Awesome! I know the weird angular shape has to be difficult.
how old are you kiddo?
I think a long bow would be pretty cool. I have been totally taken with the sling shots and can't stop watching them.
Nice job....I like the contrast between the mirror finish and the matt finish.
Bye far the most Impressive/Intelligent TH-camr and I think he is like 15 or 16 mind blown thanks for the vids.
From France:
I an very impressive
You have gold in yours hands
Bravo

Thanks for the video man I am very glad that I donated to your projects. your videos get better and better and I can't wait for some knife making
You have done a spectacular job with the things you are doing as well as your video film making expertise! I am in Southeast Missouri, USA and excited to have found your channel. I'm proud of you keep up the excellent work!
really informative video. ive watched it before.. but today.. it got special attention.. one day ill attempt it.
Excellent project and video, you've put a lot of work into them and I'd say they are some of the best on youtube.
Very nice, the metal looks so smooth!! I've never tried casting aluminium before but it looks fun so I will have to try it soon!
Awesome thanks
Incredible job with the finish!
Thanks, it took a long time but I think that it is worth it!

Goddamn. You've got this down to a science.

They all look very nice!!! :D I really look forward to the forging stuff!!! :)
The Art of Weapons Brilliant. What a great result.
***** Thanks!!!
The Art of Weapons brilliant great result
nice design and great casting
This is amazing. I enjoy seeing your work.
Have you considered anodizing your slingshots to protect them and make them cool colors?
Looking foward for the forging videos.
Brilliant video, really well explained. Thanks
Have you ever though about using HCl to etch the aluminum and make it look more ornate? I will try and cast using your methods and then upload how to etch the aluminum using acid
Thanks for watching guys!
If you have any more ideas of things that you want me to cast then please post them below!
I made an account on your website and I wanna share some of my projects but I can't figure out how. Is that not a feature yet?

Hi :) why do you don't plug the holes with tin melted with a sodering iron ?
The Art of Weapons Can you make a reverse compund crossbow,Please.
The Art of Weapons Check my chanel :D
Your drawings are pretty nice.
whenever he removes the deep scratches with the drill sanders he said you can use sand paper is there a specific sandpaper you have to use and also when he uses the wet and dry sand paper to polish it up a bit can i just use various levels of sand sponges?

I have been forging knives for a while and I am just getting into casting aluminum, thanks for the good tutorial.
+The Art Of Weapons maybe try melting a small ammount of alluminium and drip a tiny bit of it into the marks then blend it with sand paper
id love to see you have a go at casting a bow riser

This is a classic video
15 yr Old! it's a great channel I subbed!
Now with that you can try some process of anodizing. That's another cool thing to do.
very good, ive really enjoyed your slingshot videos :) i also loved your drill bit knife so am looking forward to seeing some more forging :)
Very kewl. I like your videos and ideas. Well done.
Excellent work.
What would happen if you casted with the green sand- and the lost foam casting method?
RIP Grant Thompson King of Random

Damm nice job.!... Be proud of yourself, you diserve it.!!
Have you ever tried using an angle grinder with a flap disk?
Can't you drop a molten bead of aluminium on the deep pits to fill it up?
That's great work there bud! Casting other weapons parts could be useful like on some of joerg spraves contraptions.
I didn't know Harry Potter dobbled in smelting; that's awesome!
ha.
Really cool, and great socks!
thanks
Are you ever planning to make a video on slingshot aiming and shooting methods?, great video this time and I think it looks better with it being full cast aluminium rather than half :)
How does one start to even get into making weapons out of drill bits and such?
where did you get the slingshot for the mold? Like how can I get my own just like yours?
Could the water in the sand boil off into bubbles in the bottom?
What do you estimate is the total time of filing, sanding, and polishing the slingshot?
Make a full tang knife out of a some old files and it works and it's very hard material perfect for a knife. And if you are doing this can you make a holder for it and maybe a kind of survival or eppocolips kit. Hope you got a idea to do in your video?
Keep on your so good to make videos go on!
Looks great!!!
How heavy is the whole aluminium slingshot? I need to know how much aluminium i need for one. Thanks in advance!
Can you make a few different style knuckle dusters and cleaned up and smooth
Couldn't you do both Greensand and Lost-foam by just packing Greensand around the foam? Would that be effective, or is that overkill or something?
excellent work !
what buffing wheel do you have?
How should you go about cleaning up the filings and dust?
shop vac
So I get that they're super ergonomic handles and that's rad but I can't thinking some texture would help with grip
You could get a dremmel tool, like for sanding deems, and it could work similarly to a jig saw, but it can't handle as this metal.
Could you regular borax instead to get rid of the impurities
Would be cool if someone printed this slingshot with a 3d printer
You are a made it perfectly shiney and appreciate your efforts. I liked it very much and i would like to buy. If possible can you please tell me where can get it. Please please

Love your videos :)
Hey great video! Do you think that natural clay would work instead of bentonite clay?
You should collect & save any aluminum dust. Its a main ingredient in thermite.
Great video - as always! Would it be possible to send me the schematic for the featured design?
Also, where do you get your rubber from?
Thanks.
Top effort!
lol love the hotdog socks!!!
bonjour où peut-on trouver ses beaux l'encens pierre en Belgique svp il sont tromp bien
could i buy that latest one :D
how big is your graphite crucible??
well done I work round metal for a living and am impressed with your nolige like the comment on flapper disks thay would be of great yous to you also pencil grinder you would be amazing what you can do with one of those
It is great video and can next time do a knife casting or knife making for survival maybe?
It was again a great video!!
rick lindt aluminum would not be the best material for a knife as it is a rather soft metal, because of this it would lose its edge very quickly and the forge he has is unable to reach the temperature to melt a harder material like steel :)
Yeah your right
You'4
You're**
Am just wondering what would happen if a drop of water or rain for instance got into the crucible.
Very good. Greate future..
nice work ;)

Very nice! :)
Are you willing to possibly sell any of your slingshots? If so, how much?
Is an absolute brilliant slingshot maker an other tools
Has no idea how to properly shoot a slingshot
I would like to know if you sell your slingshot? If you do, how much would you sell your slingshot. Could you make some modifications to your slingshot?
What kind of protection gear is needed for casting? Nice video btw!
***** And what else?
Safety gloves and goggles
you could cover the handle in leather to make it more comfy

do you sell your slingshot
well explained! try casting an engine block
It'd be cool if you could find a way to cast a knife blade into the hilt.
Awesome
Can you make a knife using a dremmel

@@nathanevans6331 lol I had no idea that my comment could be read as a mean one. It was definitely not intended as a down putter!
How about a hand-crafted bow made from the branch of a tree?
