      The wallpaper was extracted and reformatted by Backdrops which is where I obtained it from. I'm letting people know where they can download it themselves. Most people don't have access to the Mojave beta to get it that way.

    You are the first person I've seen demoed the speed keep properly. I keep seeing reviewers pressing the speed key on the home screen, but on the homescreen u can just essentially hit any key to take u to that app, but the speed key you use when inside another app and want to multitask.

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah it's not really useful on home screen, nothing new there. But it's awesome from within other apps.

      I have seen more objective videos that slammed the Key2 for obvious reasons. Unfortunately when u get free phones to encourage people to upgrade, u tend to hype the newer phones so the manufacturers will continue to send u free phones to review. "Key2 is sturdier and lighter" translation: is made with cheaper building materials and feels like a toy compared to the beautiful Key1.------Still sportin my Key1. Will not wait for new 5g phone because i dont believe it is coming. Astroslide and Unihertz Titan will likely b my next new phones.

    Hello Sir Jeff,
    1. What's your premonition for usability over the next 2 years for those people on a two year contract (and that includes speed, battery and software support)?
    2. Can you recommend any durable cases for dropping this key2... (Because I definitely drop my phone in the first week).
    3. Is 64 gb internal storage the only one available or is there a 128 gb internal storage available?
    4. Will there be a dualsim version?
    5. How good is the phonecall qualitiy... This is most times skipped in reviews. Wich is strange to me. Iphone 7 had problems with this.
    All the focus is on how good the camera is. All I need from a camera is a fast starting camera with reasonable photo's in daylight and lowlight.
    6. Will the keyboard surivive intensive us for two years?
    That's it... Hopefully you'll answer some of these questions in the full review.
    Thank you and keep it cool....
    Maurice

    The speed key is not that advantage if you use the app FastKey with the keyone. You use then the convenience key and a short cut to jump from one app to the other. Very useful and you don´t have to press both keys at the same time but after one the other. I just bought the keyone black edition and very satisfied.

    I have the Blackberry KeyOne for over a year upgrading from the defunct Blackberry Passport OS 10 (which I had for 3 years). KeyOne was a great improvement going to Android OS. I paid $670 CDN for the KeyOne, not looking at the Key 2, but the price difference is holding me back, I can't see paying $829 CDN for the Key 2, just a few minor changes. There are stories that TCL might release the Key 3 with 5.5" screen, depending when it comes and the price, I might still keep the Key One. I might even upgrade to the Oneplus 6T, even ditching the keyboard.

    Notice the Key2 Video mode is different from Keyone. In Keyone under Video mode, you can either click on video record or still photo taking independently. I love the Keyone video mode that single mode to access to both video recording and still photo taking but not Key2, the still photo taking button is grey out if video recording is not pressed. Also the button designed for Video mode is not changed to video symbol, still using the same still camera symbol.

    After having a KeyONE for 3 months and having see a lot of videos about the Key2, i must say that theres no good reason for me to "upgrade" to the Key2, specially now that i have the Oreo update. Blackberry is a business phone, plain and simple. It doesnt matter the camera or the storage, I have no problem having "just" 32 GB. Finally, all of the features on the Key2, you have it on the KeyONE, like privacy shade when you swipe down with 3 fingers, notable, copy paste with the keyboard and more.

      Jeff Springer 😭😭😭 I'm so sorry to hear that, Jeff, as I'm considering the regular XZ2 as an upgrade.
      But I respect & understand where you're coming from with Sony; sadly, they're a niche player at best in the US market. I swear, the manager at BestBuy was almost literally trying to talk me OUT of the XZ2 last week, after I played with the demo extensively !! 😲😆
      I'm probably leaning a bit more toward the Huawei Mate 10 Pro; despite some misgivings about the EMUI skin, it seems to rock in every other regard.
      What annoys me a bit with the Sony is just the little, stupid things that they get wrong, despite having great software -- with the XZ2, the slippery round back, the FP sensor location, the low-res FF camera, etc.
      Your thoughts ?

    I have Keyone. And I think there are not enough reasons to upgrade to Keytwo. I mean these reasons are not THAT meaningful. Especially considering the price of the phone. And, this is just my very personal opinion here, - I just don't like the design of Keytwo. It looks kinda cheap, kinda…"chinese"? I think Keyone has more serious looking. Just look at the very top of the phone, those rounded metal sides. I never held Keytwo in my hands, but it looks (!) like it's made of plastic.

      Verizon is sunsetting its CDMA network in the next 12 months and has already begun shutting down many of its CDMA towers. You don't need CDMA radios for your phone to work on Verizon any longer. If a phone supports Bands 2, 4, and 13 it's good to go on Verizon. The Key2 has all of these bands. It will work just fine on Verizon's network. HTC U11 was officially advertised and endorsed by Verizon itself as Verizon compatible, but it lacks CDMA radios. They are obsolete. Look it up for yourselves.

      Verizon is moving away from CDMA show you should be OK asking as you have a Sim now.

    After about 2 years, BlackBerry stopped making updates for the BlackBerry Priv. And due to BB's security policy, you can't install an aftermarket OS. In other words, you spend hundreds of bucks to have no support after 24 months. No, never again.

    Good review. I appreciate it was just an introductory one. I have had both the BB Key1 and more recently the Key2. The build quality of the Key2 is rushed. A common complaint is the spacebar on the Key2 fails, as did mine after several months. And so I am reverting to the Key1, which, with the arrival of the Key2, can now be picked up brand new very affordably.
    The video quality of the Key2 is far superior, but that was my only observable real improvement.

    BlackBerry screwed up with the navigation buttons. BlackBerry is wasting screen space with these navigation buttons. Other than that it sounds like a good phone.

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      But what implementation would you prefer? If you have on screen buttons it wastes usable work space.

    • @shawnvegavelez121

      Jeff Springer on screen buttons can be hidden when not being used in a app like they are on the Samsung S8.

    • @calvinrothlaender
      @calvinrothlaender 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Shawn Vega Velez yes thats is also what i think. Blackberry needs to stop wasting display space. I got the keyone black edition. Good device but the waste of display space is just stupid. There is a reason why most of the phones have Software navigation bars or use gestures.
      And i talked to so many People that think the same. OS10 Gestures is the way to go hier blackberry.

  • @alexfair

    I recommend avoiding the Blackberry devices all together. There was a good 40 days that my KeyOne was useless due to a messed up patch for the OS by Blackberry, unless you can afford having a phone that doesn't respond or have service due to bugs.

    My Keyone started off great(I've had it for 14 months) and now it has connectivity issues, doesn't load certain apps, websites, Wi-Fi works only sometimes. This is after I did a reset because it had even worse issues, thinking it would help. It didn't. This is a known issue between BlackBerry and Sprint, and neither have released a fix for it. So I'm stuck with a phone that only works when it wants.
    Do not buy these phones!
