I have the Blackberry KeyOne for over a year upgrading from the defunct Blackberry Passport OS 10 (which I had for 3 years). KeyOne was a great improvement going to Android OS. I paid $670 CDN for the KeyOne, not looking at the Key 2, but the price difference is holding me back, I can't see paying $829 CDN for the Key 2, just a few minor changes. Great review, and certainly important for me as a KEYone user. Love this phone and intrigued by the KEY2! Kind of an obscure question: I currently rely on the RIGHT-SHIFT key on my KEYone to be mapped as a "Cntrl" key, for cut-/copy-/pasting commands. With the Speed Key in place, is there any way I'll still have that functionality?

I have Keyone. And I think there are not enough reasons to upgrade to Keytwo. I mean these reasons are not THAT meaningful. Especially considering the price of the phone. And, this is just my very personal opinion here, - I just don't like the design of Keytwo. It looks kinda cheap, kinda…"chinese"? I think Keyone has more serious looking. Just look at the very top of the phone, those rounded metal sides. I never held Keytwo in my hands, but it looks (!) like it's made of plastic.

Sadly Blackberry doesn't have plans to carry any CDMA variant yet, so it won't work on Verizon, even the unlocked models. That could change later of course.
Verizon is sunsetting its CDMA network in the next 12 months and has already begun shutting down many of its CDMA towers. You don't need CDMA radios for your phone to work on Verizon any longer. If a phone supports Bands 2, 4, and 13 it's good to go on Verizon. The Key2 has all of these bands. It will work just fine on Verizon's network. HTC U11 was officially advertised and endorsed by Verizon itself as Verizon compatible, but it lacks CDMA radios. They are obsolete. Look it up for yourselves.
After about 2 years, BlackBerry stopped making updates for the BlackBerry Priv. And due to BB's security policy, you can't install an aftermarket OS. In other words, you spend hundreds of bucks to have no support after 24 months. No, never again.
I watched this without sound rn! But one question, did they fix the freaking screen sizing problem?! Cause on apps like snapchat or IG sometimes, the top and bottom half of the picture I look at are cut off because it's zoomed in. It's such an annoying draw back with my keyone -.-
Good review. I appreciate it was just an introductory one. I have had both the BB Key1 and more recently the Key2. The build quality of the Key2 is rushed. A common complaint is the spacebar on the Key2 fails, as did mine after several months. And so I am reverting to the Key1, which, with the arrival of the Key2, can now be picked up brand new very affordably. The video quality of the Key2 is far superior, but that was my only observable real improvement.
I want blackberry passport silver in android. Yesterday, I bought iPhone 12 mini but I missed my blackberry hub. I am planning to return and buy blackberry key 2 silver. I miss you blackberry :(
BlackBerry screwed up with the navigation buttons. BlackBerry is wasting screen space with these navigation buttons. Other than that it sounds like a good phone.
Shawn Vega Velez yes thats is also what i think. Blackberry needs to stop wasting display space. I got the keyone black edition. Good device but the waste of display space is just stupid. There is a reason why most of the phones have Software navigation bars or use gestures. And i talked to so many People that think the same. OS10 Gestures is the way to go hier blackberry.
I recommend avoiding the Blackberry devices all together. There was a good 40 days that my KeyOne was useless due to a messed up patch for the OS by Blackberry, unless you can afford having a phone that doesn't respond or have service due to bugs.
Us true BlackBerry users do not want to down grade to a breakable phone. Please make a stainless version. Don't settle for less again #StainlessBlackBerry
The keyboard is the main draw for me to upgrade..... However, I am not willing to throw down $300+ for a Key2.... And refuse to get an LE (no capacitive keyboard).
Lol the KEY2 is easily worth $300 or more, it's the latest (and best) keyboard phone you can get. And it's not like there are tons of options out there...
My Keyone started off great(I've had it for 14 months) and now it has connectivity issues, doesn't load certain apps, websites, Wi-Fi works only sometimes. This is after I did a reset because it had even worse issues, thinking it would help. It didn't. This is a known issue between BlackBerry and Sprint, and neither have released a fix for it. So I'm stuck with a phone that only works when it wants. Do not buy these phones!

Is there a way to turn off the capacity keys by changing the launcher? Some launchers are all swipe.
Case in point> Keyone rules. I rest my case. thank u
What about the keyboard track sensitivity
@jeff springer, does this phone has wifi calling option? for At&t by the way.
On TMobile it does, I'll put my AT&T sim in there tonight and check, but I'm sure it will since it works on TMobile.
did you try your at&t sim yet? please let me know. Thanks!
I may be in the minority but I like the size and design of the Keyone better than the Key2.
iam with you,,
Hows the audio on it?
I don't think I can deal with the lag again Jeff? Might be different now hopefully. Kindest regards Richard U.K
I don't think that will be a problem this year, the 6GB of RAM tends to really help.
Jeff Springer thanks buddy
Does TCL pre-install malware on it?
Is it waterproof?
Sadly not, having a physical keyboard prevents adding water resistance.
it would make the phone big and ugly lol no need for waterproof
I want blackberry passport silver in android. Yesterday, I bought iPhone 12 mini but I missed my blackberry hub. I am planning to return and buy blackberry key 2 silver. I miss you blackberry :(
What about the sound quality?
And speaker quality?
aside from the price, i like everything about keytwo
I love this video so much🧡❤️
Thanks!
BlackBerry screwed up with the navigation buttons. BlackBerry is wasting screen space with these navigation buttons. Other than that it sounds like a good phone.
But what implementation would you prefer? If you have on screen buttons it wastes usable work space.
Jeff Springer on screen buttons can be hidden when not being used in a app like they are on the Samsung S8.
Just impliment blackberry os10 gestures. Swipe gestures
Calvin Jordan BlackBerry wasted that space. This phone will only get better with the next version and I hope this design flaw is addressed.
That would probably have a lot of other compromises you don't want.
I miss passport. Not spending on this. Sorry B.B.
Where are my keys ?
(the question has another meaning now)
😃
Andy Spark Yeah and you just KNOW that Kim K is asking that question every day when it comes to her device. 😆😆😆
It has IP 67 certificate water resistant and dust resistant
They should update the software on the keyOne to work as a SPEED KEY
The keyboard is the main draw for me to upgrade..... However, I am not willing to throw down $300+ for a Key2.... And refuse to get an LE (no capacitive keyboard).
Lol the KEY2 is easily worth $300 or more, it's the latest (and best) keyboard phone you can get. And it's not like there are tons of options out there...
Oh god, lock the screen before you turn the phone around
My Keyone started off great(I've had it for 14 months) and now it has connectivity issues, doesn't load certain apps, websites, Wi-Fi works only sometimes. This is after I did a reset because it had even worse issues, thinking it would help. It didn't. This is a known issue between BlackBerry and Sprint, and neither have released a fix for it. So I'm stuck with a phone that only works when it wants.
Do not buy these phones!
The Key two is hard to find
Depends where you are
Alguien que tenga estos dos modelos me puede decir por favor, en cual se sienten las teclas más suaves al presionar??
