Anchorageite here! 🙋 You didn't miss much by not going to the top of Flat Top. It looks like the surface of the Moon and really isn't that pretty. The whole reason people go up there is to see the amazing view of the Inlet and the rest of Anchorage from up high. Since it was so cloudy, you wouldn't have been able to see that. Also, it's a pretty rough hike up to the top and even tougher going down especially when you can't see. I have seen people fall and it's pretty terrifying. You got to see some of the best of Anchorage scenery while you were here so you definitely lucked out! Hope you come back soon and get to see more of it! I have always said Alaska doesn't know how to be ugly. Sounds like you found that out first hand! 💙
I like you and your vlogs. I enjoy but would like to see more of the cities you stay in. You seem to really appreciate the opportunities your career affords you. And I find you personable and genuine. Good luck with all your endeavors.
I'm happy you were safe and made such a wise choice regarding your hike! Your attitude is inspiring. Thanks for sharing about what happened with the excursion, and how you made the most out of a disappointing experience! I find your content super hopeful and encouraging!
Sorry about the lost money for The tour that you were unable to cancel. On another note I absolutely positively enjoyed this video I watched it like three times now! The scenery is just beautiful. I grew up in Michigan now living in Texas so I miss the fall colors. So I really enjoyed the colors in the video from the trees. I’m going to make it to Alaska one of these days.❤
As someone who lives here (on the hillside below Hilltop) - you highlighted something that so many visitors to this state mistaken when planning something. Time and travel. This is a big state. Guessing that boat ride you were going to do was out of Whittier. Even their time estimates cannot anticipate rockslides on the Seward highway, or a wreck, or other factor that can make that drive between here and there even longer. There is a very good chance indeed that you would probably have not made it back in time. Having said that, if you get a long enough lay over? Do it. You will not regret seeing the glaciers, maybe some whales or other wildlife.
Just now seeing this video! I'm so happy you could come to Anchorage, Alaska! I've lived here since 1971. I'm sorry to hear about your cancelled boat trip. It is a very fun, beautiful excursion. I try to take out of state family on that boat ride. I have more to tell you but will do so later today, 10-29-22. 🙂🤗🌺💕✌
Julia, I love golden retrievers! They are the friendliest dogs in the world, to me! I had had one that someone dropped off when I lived in a rural area! It was a female and pregnant! I remember ( this was several years ago) that she had 14 cute little puppies! I had to give all of them away!! Mother dog died of heart worms , so we had to get rid of the puppies because of limited space! The pictures of Alaska were great!
Julia, it might be helpful to dispute the charge on your credit card...good chance you'll get it back! Also, I say as a mountain climber, knowing when to turn back is invaluable and comes with experience and intelligence. Good for you for deciding to turn around! Beautiful scenery!
We went to Anchorage with our 4 boys. I made us all turn around at that same spot. They still give me a hard time. There are several routes to take to the top- but that one involves a rock scramble. You can see it on other TH-cam videos- adventures of A&K did a good one earlier this year. You still might send an email to trip advisor. Never hurts to try!
Hi Julia. Welcome to my home. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself. You made a wise decision to turn around and not push on just to reach the mountain summit. You can always try again sometime. Alaska has so much to offer for an outdoors person like yourself and I hope you return many times to explore. I was born here in Alaska and in my 68 years I've traveled much of the state. Either by flying myself, or river boats, snow mobile, and hundreds of miles just walking. There is always something new to see that just takes your breath away. Come back again soon.
Beautiful up there in Anchorage!! As always, thank you for taking us along!! ALSO!!! I couldn’t help but notice that you hit the 125k subscriber mark! 🙂❤️ That is so awesome!! Just watched another TH-camr as he did a live broadcast when he hit the 10M subscriber mark. He was bawling! I was bawling! It was so freaking awesome!! I know you’ve mentioned that you don’t necessarily watch your subscriber numbers. Buy I just want to say that I’m SO HAPPY for you!! It’s been a pleasure to watch your channel grow. I’ve been a subscriber for well over a year and you’re one of my absolute favorite FA vlogers to watch because I know it’s authentic and real. And of course, Luna always brings a smile!! Have a blessed week!! ❤️✈️
Looks like you’ve definitely earned a hearty and fabulous dinner !!! And I couldn’t be more jealous !! Your living what I should’ve became 30 years ago and I’m so happy I can see it threw your eyes !! Thanks for taking us along !!!!
I encourage you being safe in Alaska! Hope you had fun! Nice trip!! At video time 4:33, you look very nice as flight attendant 👩✈️. I could join your flight one day, but my brother couldn’t handle it. Heart my comment
I LOVE Anchorage. My Alaska trip was wonderful. I bought some beautiful native art pieces at a gallery there and love seeing them every day. The gallery was even more special because all the art is done by those in recovery from drugs, alcohol, or both. Wonderful talents.
Julia I recommend Matanuska Glacier Tour out of Anchorage. It is an 8 hour day tour for $299. You get to walk on it with 2 guides using crampons. Matanuska Glacier is one of the most scenic in all of Alaska!!! Btw…thank you for always expressing your humbleness for your explanations! 🙏 Julia, you can do no wrong in my book!
What an awesome Trip julia. 🥰 the views from your hike of the Autumn colours was Breathtaking gorgeous ❤ Yes very wise decision to turn back, that mist might have cleared but then not beter to be safe 🙏 Thats so annoying you couldn’t get your money back 😮 ( indeed the excursion company should have made the details much much clearer) yes we all make mistakes nothing wrong in that ,we sure learn. How was your cruise with Eric ? Have a Great week. Give Luna a Cuddle 🥰
Hatcher Pass Alaska has lots of trails to hike on. And there is an old gold mine town that has been semi-preserved. It's less than an hour and a half from Anchorage, in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. I take my Labrador Retriever up there all the time in the summer. Note: This is a summer only destination.
You make a good point about excursions. It’s all about what they don’t tell you. My favorite part was the hike. It was so insanely beautiful. Great Vlog as always!❤️👍✈️
Cool coffee mug. Ahhh your at the Sheraton,,,, lol probably drove past u when u opened the window was coming from Jber government hill bout that time. Well enjoyed ur tour. It snowed yesterday here in anchorage,,, it’s 32 today ,,,,,, So you mentioned places to go next time in anchorage, just outside of anchorage there’s a place called the bird fall it’s a short drive 20 minutes going north past eagle river. The hike there is 15-20 minutes then there’s a path downwards to bottom of falls or stay up high on ext board walk. If you drive out past Palmer along highway there are many beautiful views , could possibly walk on glacier. The other direction is south on Seward highway there’s a wild animal rehabilitation center and close to Whittier where it takes you through mountain , tunnel time ,,,,, glacier and mountain scenery , there’s also a hike 30 minutes each way to a glacier /waterfall. Bummer on your $300 lose. I know the feeling has happened to me. I just breathed and tried not thinking bout it. 😂.
What a breathtaking hike, the colors of the flora and fauna were absolutely stunning, but I must admit, the grandfather in me was worried that you were in the middle of nowhere all by yourself, glad you decided to turn around, you certainly are one fortunate young lady to experience so many wonderful places.
I loved ANC and FAI layovers. What type of aircraft does AA fly from DFW and ANC? I agree, the area is so unbelievable. Glad you had a good time. Kudos Julia.
I live in Anchorage and have done the Flat Top Trail and you are completely correct on how tough of a hike it is. I totally don't blame you for turning around where you did. It can actually get pretty dangerous, especially if you're tired and the clouds are out. Glad you got a chance to get out and see some of the beauty that surrounds us here.
Hi Julia, Anchorage looked so beautiful and enjoyed seeing all the scenery. The first hike you went on looked difficult, and you took the shorter hike as well.
How a gorgeous scenery !!..I wish I could be there. I love cold and autumn with an open air. Alaska is the best place undisputed where the riot of colors also fascinates me with wonderful unique animals.🍁
First time on your channel very enjoyable you have a very relaxing way your voice is very smooth do you have a beautiful presentation about yourself I look forward to your next video. God bless you☕️🇺🇸
Great vlog as always, Julia. What a beautiful layover, all the beautiful scenery, it was breathtaking. I don't blame you at all for turning back on your hike because with the weather possibly turning bad which it did, like the saying goes, better safe then sorry. It was too bad you go on the excursion, but you had a great attitude about it and now you and us know better when we are planning things to do on trips or layovers
A like the turning back for safety sake, the risk was higher than the reward given the visibility it looked like. The city view from the hotel in the morning looked great. We are grateful too, I wouldn't get to see any of Alaska if it wasn't for this. If you want to test your cold tolerance, Barrow would be a good place to do so it looks like.
OMG I was so excited to watch this video. Alaska is on my bucketlist. Seeing all the beautiful scenery through you're eyes, definitely makes me want to go to Alaska even more. Not sure about the hiking but just being there would be all the more special and wonderful. Thank you for an awesome video.
Hi Julia! I just discovered your channel & I think it's not just fun to watch all these exciting places you visit but very informative as well. I have a family member who works in the recruiting department of a major Northwest airline. I love the free flying with standby. (OK most of the time). My first adventure was to Anchorage. Like you I was blown away by the mountains & scenery. Next Summer I plan to go back since there is so much to see. Denali National Park is next on my list & Thank you for the Elderberry Park idea! Take care, Safe travels & Thank you again for all your wonderful travel videos!
Great video, Julia! That hike was beautiful - on my last trip to Alaska, I took the drive down the Kenai Peninsula from Anchorage to Seward & back - really stunning scenery. It was pretty much a full day trip in a rental car, but well worth it - I highly recommend it. On my first trip to Alaska, which was a fam trip (I work in travel), they took us up to Kotzebue and Nome in the Arctic, but up there it's mostly spongy tundra with no trees, so I wouldn't recommend that until you had seen all the beauty in other parts of the state. We did, one morning, get to meet one of the founders of the Iditarod race - he was training his Husky puppies on the shores of the Bering Sea outside Nome - those puppies were soooo cute! BTW, I love Luna, and you are such a good Mama to her; she's always so excited when you come home.
Fantastic vlog as always julia! Great to see miss Luna! I always sleep on the bed closest to the window if im staying in a hotel room. I hate to be too warm at night, plus i love to wake up and see what's going on around me. 🤣 Alaska looked so awsome somewhere id definitely love to go so thank you for taking us along. Hope you've had a fantastic week! The cruise looked amazing too! 😍🛳
Thank you Adam! Alaska was incredible and quite a contrast from the cruise, can’t e is trot those videos to go live too! It’s gonna be a great month ☺️ thank you as always for watching!
Welcome to Anchorage, Alaska , Julia . It’s very beautiful here all year long doesn’t matter what season it is. I hope you have lots of fun while staying here with us. Stay warm and stay safe ❤
I “failed” the incline in Manitou Springs. I’ve hiked a lot in Colorado but I’m pretty sure my heart would have blown up on that endeavor. “Flatlander mistake”: we just laughed and bought the dang t- shirt. The Incline is the real deal. Props to the locals who do it. FYI: son in law was Air Force in Anchorage and loved it.
Alaska the wilderness! Nice hike, good thing there were no wild creatures stirring around mountain lions etc. Glad you were able to make the hike successfully..I like your head scarf that Eric gave you nice touch.
I really enjoy watching your videos . I’ve seen other flight attendant videos and yours is by far the best. You provide awesome content and watching your videos makes me feel like I’m really there . Thank your u for sharing your life with the rest of the world. I want to go to Alaska . Hopefully soon .
Its getting close to the First Snow Fall. The majority of the Tourists have left. These are the best days to be there; just before the snowfall and the mountains and hills become unaccessable. I can imagine some of the pics you have taken. Sounds like you really enjoyed yourself. I'm surprised there are still non stop flights from the Lower 48 to Alaska.
Hi Julia. You are absolutely right about not going up there. I’ll tell you I live in Colorado and do a lot of hikes. However most of them are with plenty of people so I know I have people to call for help. You made a great decision and you should feel very accomplishing. Great work!
Hi Julia! It’s my first time coming across your channel/videos, and I’m actually from Barrow, Alaska! I have lived in the state all my life (minus the two years I’d gone to Montana State), and really enjoyed seeing you take in Anchorage’s beauty! It’s very fun to see your life as a flight attendant, and I will be following from now on (: . I live in anchorage now, and here are some things I’d recommend: the Rabbit Creek hike is so beautiful and not as challenging as flattop! - also, my fav place to eat dinner is the chicken shack (: if you are not vegetarian, of course! ( although the salads there are pretty damn good as well ) - the museum shows a great deal of Alaska’s history and things us native people have had to endure throughout our legacy, and it is also a lot of fun! - there is also an aviation museum that is just as interesting as the one I’d mentioned above(: I hope you get to come and witness Alaska’s beauty again soon! ❤
Glad you had a great trip and hike! Wow, that mountain's elevation is over 12,000ft, so challenging is right! Coming down is as important as climbing up a mountain, so glad you made the right decision! Sorry the glacier excursion couldn't be refunded, especially since they didn't provide clear information, but as you say, at least it didn't turn into a bigger problem if you'd have found out day of. Safe travels!
Thank you SO much, Julia. What a BEAUTIFUL journey/hike. You are right - you don't h ave to complete something to enjoy it. Just the memories that you wwer able to make will be carried with you for a LONG time. I'm always humbled by the fact that you're willing to share all of these experiences with us. You could just keep it to yourselfr,, but you chooseto let us in, and for that I'm thankful. Hope things are going well for you. Takecare!
Welcome to Anchorage, Alaska! Sorry the weather was so dreary when you were here, we've had cloud cover + rain for the better part of 2 months. Less than 1 sunny day per week this fall. Flat top is NO JOKE! Glad you were able to get out and enjoy it! I would caution any hiker to be extremely well prepared and have bear spray with them this time of year (at the minimum) especially if you're going to be out and about by yourself. Bears around here are looking to beef up before winter hibernation and they're not scared of ... anything. Also, I hope the clip of the moose you shared was from farther away than it seemed. This time of year isn't sooo worrisome with moose, as there aren't really mothers out there protecting their baby calf's - but much like bears, the moose aren't afraid and can/will charge you. An amazing walking trail here in Anchorage is the 11 mile long Coastal Trail. It's almost completely on the "coast" with part of the trail boardwalk. It's accessible from downtown, and no matter the time of year, it a pretty walk. If you ever would like to plan to be around a little longer - Talkeetna, Homer, Glennallen, & Palmer all have fun things to see and would afford a day (or, more likely more than) of amazing adventures. Palmer has a neat little downtown area with amazing shops and restaurants. In Anchorage, you can't go wrong with a fish dinner at Humpies, check out Alaska Wild Berry, and various little hole in the wall type of shops that you'll find gifts from local artisans vs. something "Alaska" that came from another country.
This was one of the most enjoyable videos that I ve seen . You are in such amazing shape to navigate that trail...I really needed this pick me up today because I buried my brother yesterday. Thanks again. You are the best. BTW. if you call your cc company you can easily dispute that charge because they weren't clear with the iteniary....and time it takes. I worked for a bank and there is a better than even chance you will win. Many times the bank will eat the charge to keep u happy. Regards. Jb
Thanks for sharing this amazing trip to Anchorage, Alaska. I really enjoyed it. Love your adorable dog. 🐕🦺 My best wishes and regards from Berlin, Germany. 🙋♀️🍀😊
Hi there Julia!👋 Thank you for sharing beautiful Alaska with us! Omg! So glad you didn’t get on that boat lol! Can you imagine the STRESS you would have gone through?😱 See ya next time!🙋♀️😘

There's nothing like spending the night in a nice comfy hotel room. Its true.

You're the best and I love you
Another awesome vid! Have fun
Thank you!! Alaska was amazing!
@@JettingJulia absolutely! Dad and I used to fish Halibut up there, every year! Formerly from wa. State
Love your videos.
Yessss this is my home
Vessi’s are the best
Thanks for recommendation and discount
Enjoy your channel
Fantastic vlog as always julia! Great to see miss Luna! I always sleep on the bed closest to the window if im staying in a hotel room. I hate to be too warm at night, plus i love to wake up and see what's going on around me. 🤣 Alaska looked so awsome somewhere id definitely love to go so thank you for taking us along. Hope you've had a fantastic week! The cruise looked amazing too! 😍🛳
Thank you Adam! Alaska was incredible and quite a contrast from the cruise, can’t e is trot those videos to go live too! It’s gonna be a great month ☺️ thank you as always for watching!
ur airlines should be so happy to have a great attendant n proud
Welcome to Anchorage, Alaska , Julia . It’s very beautiful here all year long doesn’t matter what season it is. I hope you have lots of fun while staying here with us. Stay warm and stay safe ❤
The music in the video was great, very relaxing.
That hike looked stunning! What a fun layover ❄
It really was!!
Julia, Turning around is common sense. Good for you for thinking correct. Love you
Excellent Video THanks
Thank you for watching!
Hi, Julia and Happy October!😊😊😊😊😊😎☀💙💙💙💙💙🇺🇸🌈💖💖💖💖💖🛫💖🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🎃👍
I really enjoy watching your videos . I’ve seen other flight attendant videos and yours is by far the best. You provide awesome content and watching your videos makes me feel like I’m really there . Thank your u for sharing your life with the rest of the world. I want to go to Alaska . Hopefully soon .
I don't travel too far anymore but I like to see your videos. Thanks.
I loved alaska, can’t wait to go back!! It was incredible seeing all the colors change for fall. Absolutely beautiful place
I always love going to Anchorage on my layovers I hope you enjoyed Snow City Cafe I like that place. Im happy your were able to go back to Anchorage.
I really did like snow city cafe, definitely a cute breakfast spot!!
Jetting Julia da 🐐 no 🧢
It is amazing what a beautiful world we live in
Beautiful video ♥️
Thank you!!
Welcome to Anchorage!
Great stuff Julia! Now that’s my kind of weather
Thank you, it was awesome!
@@JettingJulia I bet! Can’t wait to get up there.
Takecare!
Alaska layover looks cool 😎 but what I can’t wait for is the virgin voyage cruise 🚢 videos
Definitely quite the contrast from this trip! Lol can’t wait for those to go live too!
That’s one happy dog!
She's the best!
Regards. Jb
Thank you for the tip about calling my cc company. Oh my gosh I am so sorry to hear about your brother 😢 sending you prayers!
Thank u very much for the prayers. It has been so hard for the family. Safe travels
