- Blanka in Super Street Fighter II Turbo is not really the best character in the game, but this AMAZING top Japanese player named Hao played him so well that we went down to the wire. He almost looked like a top tier! It was extremely impressive. What do you guys think of his Blanka?

This Blanka went through a whole underdog anime arc throughout the matches. Getting smoked the first few fights, but suddenly starts picking up the pace.

One thing i saw while being in fightcade is the level of reading those guys have at the top level. It's amazing how they predict your strengths.

Whenever someone picks blanka, I think oh shit this guy knows what he's doing.

Cannonball spinning and landing right in front of the opponent then into a face bite is undoubtedly one of the greatest techniques in fighting game history.
That's the beauty of Super turbo, even low tier characters are legitimately viable picks that still have a chance of winning matches and in the hands of expert players low tier characters can become almost seemingly invincible...!
Initially Hao blanka was getting taken out as expected with regards to the tier list but,,, he was able to turn it around making Blanka look like the more dangerous and threatening character...
Justin's Old Sagat is extremely strong at zoning and we know just how lethal the tiger uppercut is, but Sagat appears weak at landing jumping combos...
Hao Blanka appeared weak constantly getting hit by tiger shots and jumping into anti air standing roundhouse straight punches and tiger uppercut,,, however when Blanka successfully landed a combo it took a lot of energy and often rendered the opponent dazed...
Blanka appeared lethal when he was able to successfully go on the offensive and when he landed a combo the results were devastating ,especially as Blanka's combos have an extraordinarily high dazing potential...
A great match played by 2 highly skilled players...! ☺️👍

Yo, this had it all. At first i thought it was a clickbait cause it seemed this guy was getting washed, then it slowly became a hype set, and by the end i was fully vested in knowing who was gonna win lol. Great stuff.
I knew about this hao player just randomly coming by him in figthcade. When I saw him here I knew the vid was gonna be interesting.
I subbed to your channel as a fellow 80s baby that spent many Saturdays at Alladins Castle and Putt Putt Golf N Games binging on Street Fighter II and Hyper Fighting, taking on all comers. When I saw the vintage Champion Edition cabinet in the background, it brought back so many memories. Great match, great channel.

I'm not surprise that Blanka won. I main him myself and the character is pretty balanced. He a shoto killer if played right, and can also take on footsie or rush down character. Many people hates playing against Blanka, but I find him truly a unique character.
As a T Hawk and Zangief player I agree. I destroy shotos all day, but Blankas always give me trouble.
He's a tricky guy. Lots of movement options. Big hitboxes to watch out for.
I never root for Blanka because he's the bane of my SF playing existence, but Hao made him look so sick that I had to give it up for him by the end!

people always told me Blanka sucked, and I would wipe the floor with them. i didnt lose with Blanka until I was already an adult. I ran into a buzzsaw Chun Li and got floored. His hard kick jump is great vs projectiles. And Zangief. His biggest downside is if someone can out aerial maneuver him.

I must say, even as someone that used Old Sagat as one of their three main characters in ST (I used Claw, Ryu, and Old Sagat), I never felt comfortable fighting Blanka with him, because of how fast Blanka jumps, because of his slide, and because of how quickly Blanka can ruin your day if he can get in on you.

What a great set! Was looking one sided, but felt the intensity lift around 3:53 with Hao stepping up the aggression and a bit unlucky not to take that round.

As a 12 year old in the mid-90s I thought Blanka was like the most busted, free-win character in the game. Simply because I beat the arcade with him on a single quarter at some arcade one time.
Lol He was totally learning you patterns. I also can see that you held back a little. You played for the lols. But blanka has some nasty combos, a third of your life bar disappeared and stun you good.
I thought exactly the same. Very interesting to watch but Justin I think played one or two rounds with only one hand.

Honda’s might actually be worse. It’s so bad the two headbutts don’t even combo together sometimes.
Yes. it's the worst super in the game... I always demonstrate by showing people... I don't care what button comes out, and i just place my palm on all 6 buttons no matter what character i'm playing, and whatever button comes out will either trade or beat it clean. When I'm playing for real though i just mash a rapid fire normal and that will beat it clean.

Honda's is better because it has some more utility, he can go through fireballs, he has a store so he can walk up and still activate it... the good players will know the range where honda's super combos, but even if people don't figure it out and honda's super never combos, it still much better than blanka's
Blanka's super seems a lot more useful in Ultra SF 2, actually.
Idk, but that's just me from what I've experienced.... Experienced getting my ass handed because it's not stopped by fireballs or attacks from anyone but Akuma lol
It’s invincible against jumping opponents only hits once though and it’s best used for chip on really low life. In certain situations when a person jumps over you while you’re spinning you will automatically re direct yourself toward your opponent. As a Blanka main I always save it for last ditch effort to catch a rushing opponent off guard or to chip them out. But in short, yes it’s a horrible super.
