I still remember Ryan Reynolds as his character on the Canadian children's show "The Odyssey" which depicted a world in which no one is older than 15. He played Macro, the despotic leader in control. But they memory is a good example of how our impressions of people, especially celebrities who we see in such a narrow light, can be inaccurate. Ryan Reynolds is no more a young despot than I am the character I played in our middle school 's production of the Christmas Carol. This video is a good chance for us to reflect on the general inaccuracies in our perceptions
honestly with the charitable background that hank has and the engagement he had with our generation on things like scishow and now tiktok, he would stand a decent chance of being elected.

He continues surprise me with his knowledge and involvement in internet culture and subcultures. Although online/modern education is something he loves so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
Probably because he frequently forgets to be awesome and has been wildly inconsistent in reducing worldsuck.
Kind of makes you wonder what other notable people are watching these videos without us realizing.... Are there members of Congress who consider themselves Nerdfighters? Is there a President or Prime Minister of a country out there who does?
@@tomhudson8405 Yeah, but.... haven't we all?
@@NickGreyden Yeah but... not all of us have the resources that he has to reduce worldsuck on a much larger scale.
I would listen to “Cool Sounds With John Green.” I feel like it would be a little like “The Empty Bowl” - really chill and relaxing and great to listen to at bedtime.
"Hope you enjoyed the waves~" might be how I end emails and presentations from now on. Thanks, John!
I am crying. You made me cry. It was a huge journey JOHN. He picked Hank.😂😂
Sometimes, random sh*t is EXACTLY what you need to get you through your Tuesday. This was a delight.
"Cool sounds with John Green" is my favorite podcast.
Aww, JOHHHN, that was such a sweet closing! I love you guys!
I'm really grateful for this video - its silly, improvised nature is refreshing. Thank you, John
please make “cool sounds with john green” a regular segment
Also, possibly a thing to add into one of your podcasts, John?
I see Ansel Elgort crooning & playing piano as POTUS Reynolds & FLOTUS Lively take the dance floor for the Inaugural Ball.
I like to imagine listening to this in a decade or so after Hank Green starts running for president.
Nooooo!! the beginning with the bad mic and camera had me so nostalgic! I loved it so much and then you tore it away from me. You tore it away from me, John.
It has been torn.
I dunno, after watching Obama in the role, it does seem like the hardest job in the world. Being responsible for choosing between terrible options and being blamed for things that are completely outside one’s control… Hank would nail the ethics and communication aspects though. I wouldn’t wish the job on anyone I care about, unfortunately.
I'm so here for this journey. Great video to watch after listening to the 538 podcast
I saw John at a Daniel Biss event years ago. It was such a refreshing conversation. It gave me just a tiny bit of hope that smart, compassionate politicians do exist.
Always good to hear your voice, my dude.
Omg the sarcastic opening had me freaking rolling 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man Hank making vlog brothers videos as president would be genuinely a work of art
That's funny because my answer to this question is usually John Green
This was a very unhinged video and I loved every second of it. Very brotherhood 2.0 in the best possible way
Please make “Cool Sounds with John Green” a real thing. Even if it’s just like, I don’t know, a single 10 hour video.
This feels like it's aching for a Lo Fi Beats style looping animation as like a P4A reward or something, peppered with Easter egg references to other P4A content
This is a really cool video, One of my most common icebreakers is asking people who’s their favorite green brother
Anyone else find watching the palm trees swaying claiming and satisfying to watch?
I found myself watching them so intently I almost forgot what he was talking about in the video.
I was sad to not have two new Dear Hank and Johns WITH Hank and John these last two weeks but now that I know you’re on vacation Im like “groovy dudes get that sun, hit those waves, sit in that sand, enjoy that vacation!”
John can go on vacation whenever he wants if the result is us getting an episode of 99 percent invisible inside of Dear Hank and John
This was a really cute video and you guys are really bringing me back to old vlog brothers vibes.
I've always said I found the green brothers to be so rational and passionate and just. Kind. that I would trust them to run a country! and the fact that they would never even consider doing so is, as john said, one of their character assets
I'm so happy you provided this perspective on famous people. I have never wanted to be famous or an internet personality for exactly that "middle school people are watching me" feeling. I've never been famous but I try to make sure people know how hard it is and that they are people too, and the stress of almost always being perceived is extremely stressful. Even if you are just a small internet personality that's still more people perceiving you than would be just living life.
Indeed, the waves were very enjoyable. Thanks John!
Cool sounds with John Green is gonna become a complexly podcast I’m calling it right now.
There hasn’t been a proper fireball-level click bait Vlogbrothers video in a while, and I liked this one.
Hank can totally still make vlogbrothers videos as president!! I say he should definitely run. I’d vote for him in a heartbeat
laura dern being a lovely person makes SO MUCH SENSE. her portrayal of marmie in little women means so much to me after reading that book as a kid with my mum (as does the rest of that BEAUTIFUL movie) and it's so nice to know that she really is just as lovely in real life.
The perfect way to start my day!! Really brightened it up. Thank you!! ☺️💛
Sooo true. I'd vote for hank in a heartbeat
I like Vlogbrothers on vacation. Feels like I'm on vacation, for the four-minute duration of a video.
honestly with the charitable background that hank has and the engagement he had with our generation on things like scishow and now tiktok, he would stand a decent chance of being elected.
I see a Hank Green for president shirt coming out in the future!
The title of this video made me almost skip it but the incongruous background made me curious. I'm so glad I watched, this was entertaining and thought provoking.
