    One of the best logo design videos I’ve seen on TH-cam because she actually explains it instead of rushing through plus you get to see her actual sketches and even bits on illustrator that didn’t work. Would love more of these with this designer as learnt a lot.

    I think you’re one of the most insightful designers I’ve seen on TH-cam when explaining your direction with the fictional brand when gathering and analyzing other people’s work. It shows in the mood board you gathered and I can see you have it in you. But things started to unravel for me during your logo sketching phase. There’s not enough variety. Every sketch looked like the next one and it really wasn’t adhering to any specific issues the brand might encounter when standing out from other brands on a shelf. The first thing a designer needs to think about when branding a company is not “Pinterest visual inspo.” It is problems. Every company has them. In this case, a startup has: less money, more problems. Think like a UX designer and think like a business owner. The first thing you tackle in UX and business are pain points and how does design fit around that, not the other way around. - AD with 20+yrs in the field.

      I like the way you have articulated graphic design process should start from the point of solving the existing problems. More like starting with a Problem statement, then finding the perfect design that will fill the gap. I would love to have a look at some of your work. Can I get a link?

    Although the explanation is very elaborative and given with logic, will it be possible to explain the 4 areas of the strategy? and how the logo colour is chosen? like when the moodboard is made, what aspects from the strategy did you keep in mind? the colours, why did you choose those colours?

  • @AstonJay
    @AstonJay 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    With regards to the color section, I sometimes feel that certain shapes, within the context of the overall logo, does not work with certain colors. So choosing a color that works with the shape of the logo as well is something to be considered too. But I could be wrong🤷‍♂️ it's just how my intuition feels when I'm designing logos.

  • @franklyrahat

    I had a question for very long time regarding Contract.
    Say that I took online signature on online contract form. But what is the point of it? How it's legally helpful? I just designed it and taking signature from him. If he does anything with my files, like not giving payment, how the contract paper will help then? If he is overseas, or in local places, how a self designed contract paper will help me get justice?
    Make a video on contract if possible 🥺
    Thank you!

    • @rachelhurry3449

    Why wasn't the sketching on the iPad a vector based illustration?

    • @rachelhurry3449
      @rachelhurry3449 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question - it’s mostly because I use the iPad to replace a normal sketchbook and I prefer the looseness and freedom of sketching freehand without worrying about being perfect in a vector based program :) I’d rather refine later in the process :)

    It might be an idea to mention what a brand is - people's perception of you/your company. And because of that, branding is largely impossible. You can influence it in positive and negative ways. But there are as many impressions of you/your company out there as people.

      Could you elaborate on why Branding is impossible?, there’s an entire industry around branding that makes it possible.

    • @SveinWisnaes
      @SveinWisnaes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Fostit There is a whole industry using the word wrong. A logo is a logo. A corporate design guideline is just that.
      A brand is what your customer thinks about you and your product. It is in their head. You can not design that. You can influence it. But that is not branding. people say they are going to design a brand. And they mean a logo.
      You can influence your brand in a good way by doing good things. Behave well. Or you can do like VW did - try to cheat on tests and really hurt your brand.
      A brand is closer to a reputation. It would not make sense to say that you are going to design a reputation? But as customers don't really know what a brand is, they hear the buzzword and are to intimidated to ask. The person claiming to do branding really must know what they are talking about, right?

    • @Fostit
      @Fostit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SveinWisnaes I understand your points but I don't agree; Yes you can design a brand by taking in consideration company values, and the target audience for the company. That's the point of the whole process. Is designing something for a specific persona and this will influence on how they percieve your brand.
      Branding is creating a way to communicate your values and make people feel empowered and related to it.
      Can you design a valuable brand overnight? No, that I must say it's impossible, you have to build it, but you need the tools to achieve that goal and designing a branding concept is the first step.

    It's funny how some of the names are associated with the same industry, even if they come from different sources. In the 2000s there was a Benjys London sandwich shop. It was very successful at the time until it was sold for £40 million. It eventually collapsed in 2007. It sounds a little different, but still. There's a Benjies deli in New York. I haven't seen a flower shop or a locksmith called Benji yet)) And now even imaginary customers want a deli called Benjies.

One question, when I ungroup text and outline it, when I tried to move multiple letters it wouldn’t work. I did what I saw you saw and click and drag a box over to select them all, but when I clicked to move them it just grabbed one of the letters OR it would do a weird thing where some of the anchor points stayed out and everything skewed? But I always come across clients who's gonna say "we don't only sell carrot items, it highlights carrot a lot, can we remove the carrot and make something else". How would you defend this. On the other hand as a designer, I would def want to give a hint of local items on logo, and it looks good I know..however I want to learn to defend designs..
