    Definitely NOT “a silly video”. As you know by now, there’s not many ppl commenting on what they are which is sad because there are so many gorgeous buttons out there that tell so much art and history, but no good videos on them. I wonder if people are holding out info on YT vids. Prob not. ppl usually love to share info.
    I hope someone makes vids about them soon. The ppl that do make vids have military buttons and are such brainiacs about them that it’s impossible to learn enough from them to do us any good! 🤪
    I wish you well though
    Please share what you learn because a LOT of us WILL watch. 👍🏼

    I hope this is a resurgence of this channel. I enjoy watching people thrift and jewelry, like you tend to thrift for, is one of my interests. I first saw you when you did your collaboration with Jocelyn from her Crazy Lamp Lady channel. That lead me to your Hoover Boys channel, then this one. Keep an eye out for marbles while you’re out digging or thrifting. Like buttons, there’s money to be made there. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it.

      @@threefortytwo23 you should check that the black buttons aren't a substance called jet it's looks and feels like Coal but it's actually fossilised monkey puzzle trees that were predominantly found in the East Coast of England and is worth a good bit of money because it is harder to come by as it has been mined so much so the larger the item isthe more it's worth because they will reshape it to things that are more popular

      I did around 2.5K in sales and then switched gears. I need to get through the Mother of Pearl and the rest of the brass buttons. There's another grand to be made. I think the best price I got for one button was probably $50-75. Thanks Chance

  • @BlessedBaubles
    @BlessedBaubles 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh ya… I can tell you this much but you prob already know… jet buttons are old and made from petrified wood etc. I hope that helps.
    And, “all mother of pearl”? Or are some made of bone?
    The Bakelite pink ball-type are to die for!!! A lot of jewelry makers can make gorgeous jewelry with them.
    Are you selling the pink ones? If so, how can I contact you? I’ll check your info too.
    Never mind I just realized thus is a 2019 vid. Ugh.

    THANKYOU firstly for sharing, I am not a “professional button person” although what you have shown as far as the black glass metal backed pieces you showed I only have a few very small ones, how much was your auction lot to purchase? And I do love my buttons is there a market for some of mine do ya think. I have tried research but it’s so blooming complicated. Thanking you in advance for any little help thanks again for bothering to read.

    • @threefortytwo23
      @threefortytwo23  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think I paid between $200-300. It was a few years ago. I still have a lot of the mother of pearl buttons, but the rest I sold on eBay and did very well. I would recommend eBay to try to find similar buttons to evaluate your collection. Values go up and down.

    Hey Brad, I had no idea that you have your own channel until Kurt mention it in a Hoover boys video. You sir are a man with many layers. Vintage buttons are like little works of art to me. They put a lot of work and time into creating them. It is unfortunate that manufactures don't produce this kind of quality buttons anymore. Your wedding band looks exactly like the one Kurt dug up in 2016. Could that be the same ring? Happen hunting. I subscribed too.

  • @arizona6494
    @arizona6494 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What happened with these buttons? Where is the button stash now? Were the Military Buttons the most valuable?

    • @threefortytwo23
      @threefortytwo23  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most found new homes all over the world. I have a few left, but most of the value was sold. Most valuable were the lots of cut steels or anything unique. Bigger the better. Insects, spiders, exotic animals do best. The micro mosaic inlay did around $100 I think. Military was middle of the road in terms of value. You really need to have relatively obscure civil war era buttons or older to command good value.
