Hello Ramy! When it comes to the battery and electronics latch, you could have considered a redundant design where it opens in the opposite direction, thus meaning a failure of the latch wouldn't lead to it flipping open mid flight as the air flowing over it would keep it more-or-less closed. Just my thoughts. Fantastic build regardless!

    • @jovanblackman2608

@@fanflv This guy has skills that I can only dream of as a large-scale scratch-builder, so I assume that he had a good reason for hinging that access panel at the back. But nothing about that board/battery tray would need to be hinged at the rear for access purposes, even if he was planning on modelling a cockpit.
I'd love to hear from the man himself, (and I doubt I will) but I would guess that it was to increase the width between the hinges for strength? I need to know, because ths really seems like a nonsensical choice.

I 'm not an RC plane hobbyist or in aviation and I thought the same. My guess for the aft hinge is because if it opened forward it might get in the way while doing work in the plane. I think a front hinge with the ability to easily remove the entire hatch when doing extensive work inside would have been a good compromise.

I love that plane. True story. I made hundreds of tailcones for real C-17s. Because it's very tough but flexible material, as well as thin walled, and cone shaped it was very difficult to hold for standard braised carbide cutting. It has to be held from the inside because the machine is outside. It chattered, and tended to break expensive carbide cutters. $80 each in 1992. It would break 1 sometimes 2 per cone. Often it would chatter loose, and have to be reset.
It was a loss leader in the industry so the contractor could maintain contact with Boeing for the big contracts. Competing contractors underbid on the cone contract but we got it for a price of $60 each. But it is a hot potato in the aviation industry. Contractors do it for a while then let some other contractor take the loss for a while. Same with us. Other contractors tried ultrasound, lasers, and high pressure water jets. Couldn't do it for a profit.
Before I started making them we put only the most experienced machinists on them. They used $80 880 braised carbide. Pain in the ass. Came loose, broke carbides. They gripped about it all the time. Never gave me the job because I was the new guy.
Been there a while I tell the shop foreman, who often had to do the job himself, over lunch "I'm tired of hearing you guys gripping about those tailcones." "Give it to me I'll figure it out. As far as you're concerned it's my favorite job, and you'll never hear a gripe about it again.
He said "You're on.", and it was a pain in the ass. I did the job for 3 months before I figured it out.
I invented a mod of the fixture. I was able to double production. I was able to use a $60 660 braised carbide, and made 10 cones with one tool before repeated sharpening wore it down to a nub, and even then nub would cut. Our cost there alone went from $80 each when one carbide usually broke, and $160 if 2 did to my cost of $6 each in carbide cost, and half the overhead. For the first time in aviation history I delivered on the contract at a profit.
It made the job much easier for me too. It really did become my favorite job. That even became the company's nickname for the job. "My Favorite Job.". Whenever a load of tailcones came in the foreman said " 'Your Favorite Job' is here.". I asked him once if he was joking with me that it was a pain in the ass for everybody else, and that it really is my favorite job. He said he knows it's my favorite job because I so good at it. The thing I made works. A little prodding got him to say I was making it at a profit, and the owners appreciated it. He only put someone else on the job when he had a hotter job for me.
One of which was a big Boeing contract we were hoping for. The 777 fuselage turning fixture. Boeing requested I be assigned the job. No customer had ever requested a particular machinist before in the company. It was my work on the tailcones that got us the job, and me requested.
Boeing had become skeptical that we were producing good parts because we consistently won the contract with the lowest bid. They suspected the invention I used, and had to check the cones. So Boeing bought a $12,000 1'x4'x4' flat standard. Precision ground from granite to check the geometry against. I heard there was a bet. If my cones failed inspection we would pay for the flat, and keep it. But if my cones passed Boeing paid for it, and we keep it.
The inspector shows up one day. I say "So we just grab one at random right?". He sad "That sounds like a good idea.". I know I got him eating out of my hand already. But I plop it down on the flat, he grabs the height micrometer, and starts to measure the length. I say "you have to...". He cuts me off saying "I want to check this first.". I say "Ok". Right away he's saying "It's off. I tell him it's off because it's cone shaped, and thin walled like a Dixie cup, a water cooler cup. If you squeeze it out of round that end becomes rounded. The cone is out of round and it's rocking on the flat, and I showed him the rocking. He asks what we do about it. I point out we're not responsible for it being round, and no tailcone ever will be. But if the mating part is flat it will push the cone flat, and round. That eased his mind. We just have to push it against the flat to get a rock solid measurement. He said I'll buy that.".
So I lead him through all the measuring tools, extensions for the fixed jaw of the micrometer, using the standards that come with it to zero the dial. Hight gauge then "miked" with an inside mike which is checked against the outside mike. I'm teaching the inspector how to inspect it, and convincing him it's the right way, and we're getting rock solid measurements. Everybody's having a good time throwing up clay pigeons to watch me shoot them all down. Last we get to the diameter of the big end of the cone. I Show him how to press the cone on the corner of the flat so 180 degrees is off the flat so it can be measured with the micrometer. He notices it's on the low side of the tolerance. I had a spec of +- .0025", .005" total. That means I cut too high on the taper. I say "No I didn't.". He's all smiles "I gotta hear it. I know you got something.". I point out on the print it says "De burr". I say "You gotta give me at least a thousandth." A human hair is 1 to 3. He says he'll buy that but it's still on the low. I say but it's a thousandth on this side, and a thousandth on the other putting it within half a thousandth of spec. Right? He gets it, and I say turn it 90 degrees to get the round, but he says we don't have to do that he's convinced I know what I'm doing. I say we're done then? Yes. I still want to measure it for myself. He asks how that could be off if all the others are right on. I explain while I measure it could be off the conical axis. That could cause the length to be correct, and at all points parallel to both ends but this diameter might not be round. It could an elliptical, conic section. He understood that. and the cone was ok. He asked how that might happen. I reminded him about how it can chatter loose, and have to be reset where it could, and likely would be a little off. Probably not significantly, and it never pulls loose on me.
He was so impressed with me Boeing requested I machine the 777 fuselage turning fixture, and tried to reverse engineer my tailcone fixture invention to modify the fixture for the tailcones of the largest jet engines ever built to this day.
I invented modifications when I made the 777. It was so good when Boeing took it to their plant to assemble it went together overnight. The Los Angeles Times ran a front page story, with a full color picture, that neighboring residents were calling police about this huge piece of machinery suddenly appearing practically in their back yards. They were reporting they thought some huge machine had crashed. One said "It popped up overnight like a mushroom.".
What I couldn't know then was the historic records the 777 would accumulate. Best selling airliner in aviation history. 2200 sold 1600 delivered. The 747 just ended its 50 year production run with 1800 delivered. The last 747 that will ever be delivered. The 777, in 29 years, with 1600 now flying it has not had a single mass fatality accident. One Malaysian Airlines was shot down, and one Malaysian Airlines was lost, disappeared by suspected hijacking. Those don't count. They're not accidents. Coincidentally or not that door plug that popped out of a 737 recently was from a fuselage of Malaysian manufacture.
Compare that safety record to other airliners that have multiple crashes, and fewer planes. Ball park of 2 to 8 years to just the first crash of all the other jumbo jets. Ball park of 60,000 lives were saved by flying on my plane that would have been lost in the same 30 years flying on other planes. My inventions can be applied throughout the aviation industry for 2 orders of magnitude increase in safety. That's 100 times safer.
When I started posting in 2008 in comments about Boeing on TH-cam l mostly wrote about the tailcones. A little about the fuselage but it didn't yet have the phenomenal history it now has. Shortly after Boeing, I suspect to distance themselves from my contributions, built a secret robot fuselage assembly plant to make the 777X without my fixture. Am I a paranoid delusional "flying saucer nut"? Secret robot assembly plant for Pete's sake. Well I'm not the one who spent billions to build a secret robot assembly plant. You can look it up. They said it was to reduce costs but it didn't. Around 20 16-17 they dismantled my 777 fixture. My fixture made 777s which passed the FAA mandated 150% over maximum expected load test with 154%. The test is also called "testing to destruction". Having so far passed the test my 777 was not tested to destruction. How much more it could have taken we may never know. I heard it's on display somewhere. The 777X built in the secret robot assembly plant failed explosively at 149% of maximum expected load. It's been reported the secret robot assembly plant has now been dismantled. Boeing missed the 2019 delivery originally scheduled for the 777X. Failure after failure has repeatedly pushed back the delivery date to now 2025.
Again, I'm not the one who spent billions on a failed secret robot assembly plant.
Boeing does not mention in advertising the 777 is so much safer, though you'd think they should, and would, because the question would arise why their other planes are not so safe. They would have to admit they don't know why. That's because they don't know how I did it.
    Pass this along.
I cannot take responsibility for the safety of the 777X unless I can inspect or remanufacture my fixture if it was scrapped.
The C-17, and the Triple Seven. I dearly love those planes.

Please before maiden can you consider few points
1- the 4 ESC needs Airflow ventilation because they will accumulate very high temperature during the flight
2- please consider installing the ESC's underwings or inside the tunnel of the engines behind the ducted fan That's my advice wish you all the best

Re comments on the hatch hinge placement, looking at the position of the wings, the access required and maintaining the CG, it had to be put that way otherwise access would be a nightmare. Hatches can be designed to not open in flight as Im sure this one will be.
