Diagbox for Citroen (and how to get swindled)

- For those that don’t know, Diagbox is the software the PSA group created to diagnose and control the computer brain, or ECU, of the Citroens and Peugeots they produced. Diagbox replaced both Lexia, the specific program for Citroens and PP 2000, or Planet Peugeot 2000 for, you guessed it, Peugeots.
This video was supposed to be a how-to video to help Citroen C5 owners or anyone else with a compatible car use Diagbox and change some vehicle settings, but it ended up being a cautionary tale of taking care when ordering OEM parts, using the example of someone who has years of experience buying online still managing to get swindled and ending up with 65 euros-worth of useless crap.
DON'T connect to the internet.
DO use a pre-made virtual machine.
You can be up and running in 10 minutes.
I've got one of these knock-off cables and it works fine.
In my experience,
- Don't use Windows 10...use Windows 7 or XP instead. In the successful example at 4:00 you can see the person's using XP.
- Don't use your everyday laptop. You don't want to infect it with a virus. So get a second laptop or use a virtual machine if necessary.
- Don't use a 64-bit operating system...use a 32-bit version. The cable drivers and the software seem to prefer this.
- Disable any antivirus software
- Reboot after installing Diagbox, and again after every update you install.
- Try again 🙂

Or just use VMware or VirtualBox with your normal Laptop and you're safe
@@jacquesleroux530 Hello Jacques, the whole point of the video was that I DON'T know where to get the correct cable and software. I wish I could be more help.
It's only the latest versions of Diagbox that can use windows 7 onwards.
As stated the earlier ones need XP or they don't work and it must be 32-bit as no version will work on 64-bit systems.
i need to buy a lappy for this purpose would anyone know what spec I need? I heard diagbox needs more ram than lexia?
You paid Chinese price but want official dealer diagnostic that cost thousands mmmmm
Do you really think PSA would sell official licensed software online for 65 with all the hardware?
Come on, you knew what you were getting for that price.
Next time, spin up a VM (or ask any one to do it for you) and this way you'll have the software neatly partitioned from your own OS and are able to control everything within.

I have one of these cables and mine works fine on win 10 64bit, I downloaded a free to use version 9 of the software, although antivirus and firewall don't like it and best to use it offline
does this work to program the radio ?

I had the same problem, trying to install on Windows 10, then on Windows 7. Until I discovered that it actualiy only works on windows XP. So I have a dedicated Windows XP laptop (an old one) for diagbox now and that works great.
I get the error "adaptive cruise control failure" and "collision risk detection system failure". Is it the same as your problem? Can it be fixed with lexia3?
I think the front ACC radar sensor needs to be calibrated. Is this possible with lexia3?
If possible I will buy lexia3 v9.91
Is adaptive cruise control and automatic cruise control different?

I first bought a cheap crap that never worked, I installed windows 7 32 or 64 windows 10 32 or 64 most of the versions available, vm machine and nothing. Ended up requesting refund and buying the expensive one that I should have bought first, the expensive one works like a charm! Do not waste your time in clones as only a few will work and not worth the time spent on it buying and waiting for it then setting up for it not to work. All I got was vci is not connected.

PSA is such a pain in the ass. VAG group when it comes to ECUs is much better with the VCDS
My best advice. Go and buy the software again, but this time buy a version that is within a virtual machine, Vmware. This means all the installation has been done for you. You just run the VM all done. Should cost about 10-15 Quid. Another advantage you can easily move it to another PC

@@rushymoto You'd still have to install VMware or virtual box on your computer, to run the VM off a stick or from hard drive(easier and faster). You could then remove it after
The VM´s are available for free from PSA forums. no need to buy them.

I just want to turn my cruise control on my 2009 C2 I installed my knock off copy on a sub laptop (net book) and it seems to work but it dose not get beyond selecting the car type.
I need this for a DS4 what is it called? What can I buy? Must be a decent seller around?!
And here "I" am, seeing all this and thinking.... "lucky me, I got if from a chinese in UK, and never had a problem with anything, except the last update to 7.81, the only glich of which was that I had to change the instalation language manualy, ending up to reinstall everything again, only up to update 7.66, because it covered my version and I was too lazy to chage language manualy".
I'm pretty sure you'll be fine with the 7.66 too.
Wanna try and send you the relevant folder with torrent? I don't remember having a problem with any codes for updating up to 7.66. It worked with the initial "scary001", if I remember correctly.
For the 7.81 it asked for a code, which was "maitresox"...I think, but I didn' t deal with it anyway. 7.66 is perfectly fine for your AND my versions.
Hey there! That's very kind of you! I would love to try it! My worry is that the cable I have doesn't have the proper chip, and there's no way of knowing (and that's why I didn't include it in the video). Anyway, how do you send it? Is there a DM function within YT?
@@comcarclub .....ahm....yes, about that.....I was thinking about making a torrent file and sending it to you via e-mail. However....some torrent files I made in the past didn't work, due to wrong trackers. I try to have trackers that work, but sometimes they don't work.
That's why I suggested "trying" to send it via torrent. And even if it does work and we connect, my upload speed is about 100 - 110kB/s, and the whole folder with the initial installation subfolder and another one with the updates, is 2.2GB, so it'll take some time.
Alternatly, we can try sending the first version, the 7.01 I think, and if the torrent works, and if it arrives there, AND if it installs correctly, we can try the rest.
The way I see it, we don't have anything to lose. I'll try to make the torrent file this evening. I suppose you have your e-mail in your channel, I'll check, if you don't, I have mine in my channel, so we'll manage somehow. No worries.
@@comcarclub ...and one more thing: since you have your doubts about the hardware, you can install the basic version, 7.01, and try to connect with the car, to see if it works or not. I've tried that version before updating further, and it works with mine, which is a 2011 model, so I guess it covers your's too, since it's older.
No problems here and I have installed it so many times in different machines that I have lost count. There are a lot of things that can go wrong especially as from what I can see your laptop is online during the installation which is a definite NO. Easiest way is to install it in a Virtual WinXP or Win7 machine and make sure you install the correct ACTIA USB drivers as otherwise it will not connect to the car. There is no problem with your hardware.

Turn Internet off Windows 7 ultimate lots of video to install got mine to work but a pain pp2000 best works on vista any other platform may not work I have one laptop only vista old shity laptop works fine other laptop for diabox windows 7 ultimately
You show in several screenshots that you are 'updating from the internet'. You are not suopposed to have internet on!! Only update from the files supplied on the CD.
You weren't robbed but you need to go through the instructions fully.

Your „Spain“ version is the China version. Can be seen from the picture. It’s a tricky installation, feels like 90s again.

I once encoutered citroen with broken OBD2 port, but in that case, just no connection with lexia vci. Also did you tried taking the vci apart?

HI I to down load with cable for some reason WiFi kept missing bits out and took forever,
there are people out there like softwares enginners to install for you any software you need . how you think you are qualified to install such complicated software my dear friend . anyway if anyone needs on windows 10 or 11 or any other let me know . by the way that version you are trying is way too old . all the best people
