Loved the video Paul. I’m not a shotgun guy but I can appreciate all your points. If it were me, I’d tape of the stock around the checkering and sand it lightly with 400 and hit it with some oil after. But the most important aspect is that mamas happy. 😉.

Nice review! To me there is nothing like a 28 gauge built on a gauge specific frame. The Browning is built on a 20 gauge receiver which is why you notice the extra weight. I have a beautifully built 28 gauge side by side and live in central Maine if you want to try it out!

Glad you did a review of this gun, Paul! When I watched the video of you and Lacey shooting this gun earlier in the fall, I was curious what your opinion was going to be with the weight of it. I can't say I'm surprised you both feel it's a bit on the heavy side. I'm like you, I think 5.5 to like 6.25 lbs is about right, especially if you're going to be walking for an extended period of time. I think people underestimate the difference 1 lb. can make when you're trekking through a cedar swamp after flushing a bird, or dealing with heavy brush and thick alders. Heck, even just walking down an old logging road for a mile or two, that extra weight is definitely noticeable. Hopefully when you shorten it down a bit, it'll lighten up a tad and feel a bit more comfortable for Lacey. Overall it's a great looking gun and seems to tick most of the boxes...plus it's got the "golden trigger", which for you and Lacey is where the story and memories of this gun will always begin!

Hey, glad you enjoyed it! It's a lovely gun, but you're right. A pound might not seem like much walking across the yard...but walk 5 miles and you know it! We'll see if we can shorten up the length of pull a bit for Lacey. I think she'll get many years of enjoyment out of it!

Well when Lacey sits down to have lunch and she turns around and bumps it. The gun gets a ding or a scratch. She will feel bad, but when she hands it to one of the grand kid. Well she and your kids will tell the story. Maybe it will end with a limit of birds.

Great video, I'm looking at buying an over and under but its going to be in the 1000.00 dollar range. Keep up the great content and I'll let you now what I buy. Hope your winter is going well.

Thanks Robert! Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, please let me know what you end up with. A lot of people speak highly of the Winchester Model 101 which comes in around $1300. I've never held one so I can't vouch for the quality. Good luck and keep me posted👍

Great video thanks. You remind me of a white version of Colion Noir in a good way.

I checked out a Browning Citori Hunter II. The checkering is far too aggressive for bare hands.
The Browning Citori CXS has perfect checkering.

Nice review. I know what you meant when you state “American Version”, but I believe the Citori is manufactured by Miroku Corp., in Japan. Nonetheless, they make good guns. One of my favorite
O/U’s is the Franchi Instinct SLX. Owned by Benelli, and in turn, Beretta. Italian made. Beautiful gun and the 28gauge with 28” barrels comes in at 5.2 lbs at a price point slightly under the Citori. Check it out.

Thanks! You’re right, made in Japan. I’ve recently had my eye on a Beretta. I’ll definitely check out the Franchi. Thanks for the info!👍

They look very similar, but I bet if a person handled both of them beside each other there would be some noticeable differences.

Ha! You know, I watch people everyday drive $60,000 (and up) trucks through the woods. In my opinion, I think buying good guns is definitely a better use of money.
