@Random Clips What do you mean? Their point was that at the rate they were doing endings there would be a monumental amount by the end of the series. The 18th and final ending, Adventure World, ended on episode 278. The endings lasted on average 15.4 episodes. If they had continued at that rate, we'd have 60 endings to One Piece as of now, and the series still has years until it's over. One Piece's openings run for a longer time than most anime openings that go for a cour, which is like 12 or 13 episodes. The average One Piece opening runs for 42.5 episodes.
@@unclegreen6051 Do you know what an arc is? Thriller bark, and Punk Hazard are arcs. There's no way he'd be able to tie all the loose ends in something that small. Punk Hazard to the end of Wano is a saga so there's probably still 400-500 chapters more to go, not including that we haven't even finished Wano.
I don't agree with "dark" for the anime series as a whole. Maybe for the Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island film and the Sabaody Archipelago arc that went into slavery and human trafficking and the racism in the Fishman Island arc. Otherwise, it's still a shounen anime at heart. 😊

Your list probably contextualizes a lot of little moments in the show, when listed this way, it might make it seem like when a new viewer watches this show, it will be like watching Attack on Titan or Vinland Saga but episode by episode, One Piece has more comedy and straightforward action. I am not saying what you're saying isn't in the show, it's just not that prevalent. "Tragic" and "Dark" are two different things depending on the context.
As a dude who has seen most of the long running shonen series, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Hunter x Hunter, MHA, Black Clover, Dragon Ball, and most of Yu Yu Hakusho, One Piece is easily the best in my opinion. It is a story that is long af, but was designed to be long af from its inception and fully takes advantage of that length. BTW this is all my humble opinion, if u disagree, please dont hate.

@@nsl7913 but gintama has its story eventho its pretty vague and its still just as meaningful as one piece story..the plot progress just as one piece meeting new people and making connection..we get a piece of the puzzle each time to uncover the past just like one piece with its mystery and secrets..one piece is more grand in content while gintama make mundane and everyday stuff interesting..people should not downplayed its value just because its a comedy because the value it caries is about the same weight..they go about their business with different approach but the friendship, victory and hardship is just the same
For the last two openings, they did change the art style and not just for the openings but also for the anime. Also the reason for that is cause the director of this arc is the same guy who directed the broly movie.
but it is almost #1 in amount of content, the longest running series with 20 minute episodes is an anime with 1488 episodes in total. so it isn't _that_ far behind
One Piece has the best world-bulding in all anime/manga, and the characters are incredible (they do not forget old ones for the sake of the main character). Furthermore, the actual story and comedy are a masterpiece, I really sugest you two to give it a shot

Reason why the Openings are long is because there are no outros. Also, there aren’t that many fillers let alone flashbacks. One piece is the epitome of story telling and adventure. Hands down one of the best shows out there. If the fact that it’s one of the most popular shows and longest (still airing), isn’t indicative of that. I don’t know what is.

Believe me, its not because we pass "our whole life watching", and this is not the longest anime, there's a reason for it to be so long even without the pacing issues. Alot of people start to watch it in the past years and even this year.. they really enjoy the show, I aways love to see people underestimating it and eventually falling in love with that, u should give it a shot, a least for the manga! Yeah, I never stick with a series for anything other than enjoyment. I dropped naruto during the war, bleach after aizen and a lot of seasonal animes, for one piece I never felt anything other than excitement to read the next chapter or watch the next ep it especially since the current manga arc is fire.
But the depressing high school, suicidal rock song opening was their favorite. It’s just their taste. Probably a sign they need a Luffy in their life tho lol

The One Piece anime debut in 1999, not the 80's lol. The overall goal is to find the legendary treasure "One Piece" left by the King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger. But the story itself focuses moreso on the journey, rather then the destination. It's a wild ride...

Manish Kumar I don’t know I just got through it lol. I binge watched it through my holiday when I didn’t have school. And I also had a filler guide even if there wasn’t as much filler as naruto but still some fillers so that helped me.
At some point in time the anime ditches the endings so they make the openings longer (paused to explain, I’ll continue to watch now...) Edit; Thanks for the reaction. Was long but fun! You caught a lot more than other reactors I saw...the few “weak” openings just grow on you as you watch along (some of them become the fans favorite) the style really changes. It bring the same animator as the movie brooly. It’s a nice style update. And the fillers are not bad in one piece...it’s more of a problem of pacing. At some point they strat to stretch a one chapter per episode...but there a version called “one pace” that fixes that...and even with the bad pacing you can still enjoy it(it’s more jarring for week to week watch. The episodes need to be watched in arcs and than you won’t feel the problems with the pacing at all). Of course the reading is way more fun. It’s a show you would definitely will enjoy. It starts as a “what the hell...” and goes to “hell yeah!” To a phase like a junky “when is the next episode/chapter!”
I can give confirmation that the show looks exactly like opening 22 and 23 now. One Piece is the greatest manga experience I’ve ever had in my life. Seriously, the foreshadowing, plot lines, characters, world building and the art style (manga not the anime) are just 10/10. It’s a long long running shounen but it’s still getting better and better in 2020.
Well I have watched one piece since the beginning first the dreaded 4 kids dub like blah. But then watched it like 4 years later when funimation got it and seen the sub later. I have gotten a lot of plot and the world building is quite insane I agree the anime is actually really well made I have never had really an issue with its pacing or story maybe some cover stories they havent done which I just read afterwords yes that helps but the anime is nothing to talk down about. Most people complain about the dragging out an episode for the most part. When they have been close to the manga so they literally have to so not to over due to the filler arcs people complain about when one piece fillers are some of the best made. And also are plot points oda created but didnt finish or have time to. See I dont have an issue with that I tired to read the manga I and didnt get as much as an emotional vibe or experience. I think the maga is good but there are times the anime does it better. Doctor Hiluluk, water seven, luffys first fight with kaido I saw the chapter on that it was one panel. The anime made luffy go out to no avile then getting one shot which made a better impact on how strong kaido is to me same with big mama how see one hit ko'ed luffy I known that was a filler secen but it showed her being able to over power luffy and Germa just saying. But yea.
@@dracophoenixttv you got it the wrong way around. The anime dragged Luffy vs Kaido for so long that the viewer thought Luffy had actual chances. Luffy managed to block some hits too, which is completely absurd. In the manga Luffy just got 3 attacks in without blocking anything and then you turned the page and he was absolutely WRECKED by a single, speed-blitz attack. The anime changed the entire meaning of the scene.
At around 27 minutes you guys were talking about the OPs and EDs being longer. That's not the case. One Piece completely got rid of EDs and used that extra time to make the OPs around double in length.
You have figures of Naruto and Goku and you haven't seen One Piece? Cringe bruh?? Nah jk. 😂 Lots of people get intimidated by the length of series when thinking about starting One Piece, but it's easily its strength and weakness. One Piece isn't long because the creator wants it to be, it's long because the series needs to be. In fact when the creator started the series he planned finishing it within 5 years and since then, he knows how he'll end the series. The amount of detail he put into it made him love the series more than anyone else. You guys should give it a shot. I haven't seen anyone watched/read the series and regret it after catching up. Except those salty anime fans that dives into the series with a close mind and puts some certain series at the top of their list and constantly compares their faves with One Piece. PS. The art and animation in the last 2 latest openings were consistent within the anime. So.. haha. One Piece Plot Summary: "Gold Roger was known as the Pirate King, the strongest and most infamous being to have sailed the Grand Line. The capture and death of Roger by the World Government brought a change throughout the world. His last words before his death revealed the location of the greatest treasure in the world, One Piece. It was this revelation that brought about the Grand Age of Pirates, men who dreamed of finding One Piece (which promises an unlimited amount of riches and fame), and quite possibly the most coveted of titles for the person who found it, the title of the Pirate King. Enter Monkey D. Luffy, a 17-year-old boy that defies your standard definition of a pirate. Rather than the popular persona of a wicked, hardened, toothless pirate who ransacks villages for fun, Luffy’s reason for being a pirate is one of pure wonder; the thought of an exciting adventure and meeting new and intriguing people, along with finding One Piece, are his reasons of becoming a pirate. Following in the footsteps of his childhood hero, Luffy and his crew travel across the Grand Line, experiencing crazy adventures, unveiling dark mysteries and battling strong enemies, all in order to reach One Piece."
Oh and you forgot, that Luffy doesn't want to find one piece for the treasure or for earning just like a title, he says that by becoming a pirate king means u are the most free person in the world, he doesn't do it for fame
@@onlyflames3487 You don't have to tell tgem that, maybe they will watch it someday and then they will get to that point where they learn about Luffy's reason to become Pirate King

i love how people exagerate this show so much. if you binge it only takes 4 months of binging. like wtf. the manga started 1997 and anime 1999 and this dude is saying EARLY 80. no thats JOJO
yeah I've read one piece like 4 times and watched it twice. It seems like a lot on paper but if you just sit down and watch a couple episodes every day it doesn't take long. the biggest comitment is staying up to date. I'm 21 and I've been watching since I was like 16 and they've only completed 2 arcs in that time.
people vastly overestimate the length it'll take to watch/read something If peole can wait 10 years for Game of Thrones to have a shitty ending, they can fucking give one peice a chance
Funny thing, you asked at 49:17 "Is that the name of the ship? Break the romance dawn?". Romance Dawn is the name of the 1 shot story Oda wrote before One Piece, and the start of One Piece is inspired in Romance Dawn.
1 thing that I think the unique about one piece is that the consistency of the series. Theres a lot other long running show like detective conan, dragon ball, bleach, and naruto and jojo. One piece starts slow and unknown. but over the years with each arc, it keeps getting better and better. like when it came out I say this is best arc. But when the next arc came out, nah this is the best arc ,even until now. I think thats why one piece never dies even after 23 years of manga weekly series. and sold over 400 million copies volume. The anime not so bad but read the manga if you dont wanna spend months watching it.
One Piece was the first anime I officially started watching when I was about 11. And I remember not caring much about the technical stuff (visual quality, framerate, animation etc.) and the amount of filler because I got to be with the straw hat pirates on this adventure. I just wanted to be with them without judging anything about the writing and stuff. And I still don't want to care because stories have to be felt instead of judged. And boy did I feel this story. It felt like I was literally there alongside them and I was always depressed when I came back into the real world. That's how you make a good story. One where the audience gets lost in the world and experiences everything as if it was real.
The reason why opening 22 and 23 looks like the Broly movie is because it went over to One Piece and the anime has got a huge upgrade in art and animation since then.
I'm just going to be straight, One Piece is so much better in manga, unfortunately the anime doesn't make it justice. Well, Toei Animation is putting a lot of effort in this present arc Wano, but the pacing is still the problem.
I disagree. When I first saw the manga back in middle school, circa 2006-7, I wrote the whole thing off as just another dopey shonen "villain-of-the-week" story. Years later, it was the anime that brought me back, especially the pacing; every little detail was covered that, upon looking into the manga later, I'd found little to nothing was cut. In that sense, the slow build acted as a catalyst to the show's big plot reveals and the shock afforded to them. It's a similar concept on why the newer HunterxHunter anime adaptation is so well liked: the narrator's key role in the Chimaera ant arc adds to the overall suspense and relishment of key moments.
i read the manga, and watch the anime, and to no suprise, both of the first eps/chapters got me hooked just as easily. i think the sounds and ost's in the anime really support the feeling of the story, but now and then i like to take a break and just read!
@@joshuagross3151 well you can't really compare hunter x hunters chimera ant arc narration with toei's take on one piece adaption. they are making it way dragged out in many ways. many pointless eye stares and akward standstill moments etc. where nothing happens and it just drags the episodes out. the show could have been like 800 something episodes in if all that shit was cut. instead of 900+ pacing 100% better in the manga.
@@Ramhams1337 Problem is, that's not how animation works. Manga are still images that require the animation to fill the blanks. Tense pauses and the furtive glares are as much a part of the story as it's most brutal fight so unless you want a picture show or moments of pause mentioned in the story to be cut, the animation is necessary. The perception of the reader is difficult to translate to animation, especially when we can perceive and comprehend certain actions much faster than what an animation studio of _ANY_ calibre can manage. And I definitely _can_ use HunterxHunter in comparison, since the narration is used to cover exposition from the manga that couldn't be explained through dialogue or regular world-building. That similar esthetic can be construed from OP's tendency for pauses in building tension for major choices and the consequences possible. That sort of gradual consideration carries weight in a serious or tragic story and is one of the reasons the series shines as a whole.
"since the 80s." Nah, not that long. The manga started in 97. But yeah if you do indeed decide to check out One Piece, I do recommend reading the manga. The anime does do some parts better, but overall the manga is of a more solid quality. And there are things in the manga that the anime _does not have_ so with the anime you're not getting the full story. And if you read it as the tankobon-volumes instead of an online chapter-by-chapter publication, yo get to enjoy Oda's reader question corners in all their canon-expanding madness.
34:40 "What am I going to fill 2 and a half minutes with, without spoiling the whole arc" ....who wants to be the one to tell him? Also when she said she was sad that they got a new ship when she noticed the Merry was missing.... I felt that
I wish he hadn’t started talking during the opening where sabo came up wit ace behind him transparent, I love when the reactions are “that’s the blonde guy from when they were kids!” Or “wait did zoro lose an eye?” I like when they put little things together
26:33 Just to clarify, One Piece doesn’t have a filler issue (they have very few compared to other long-running Shonen anime), instead they have a pacing issue. The approach the animation studio took to prevent the anime from catching up too soon to the manga is adapt 1 chapter per 1 episode. More recently, they’ve slowed down even more, adapting less than a chapter per 1 episode. The result is that everything tends to get stretched out to fill an entire episode. Technically it’s not filler, but pacing. Still worth it though... obviously the manga is better but the anime is still amazing.
They have their basic outfits which is the one that represents them, but they also have new outfits in every arc and yes there's were a time skip( and sorry but im not that good speaking english)
"Holy fuck what am i gonna fill 2 and a half minutes without spoiling literally the entire arc" Opening 22 and 23: Literally spoiling what happens in each released episode.
Don't know if you knew this Carson but Kishimoto and Oda were pretty big rivals at the time the Big 3 were airing. The Big 3 being One Piece, Naruto and Bleach.
1- Theres dozens of longer anime, including some still ongoing like Detective Conan, Sasae-san etc, those are also harder to follow as they are episodic while one piece is a saga so its easier to keep going 2- Its from the late 90s not 80s 3- only people who complain about the lenght are the ones who havent seen it yet, the pacing is very good which is why you only see meme attemps from people who havent tried it, in comparision, DBZ had less episodes but the pacing became worse 4- long anime are very common and include a ton of classics, if you avoid them due prejudice you will miss out a ton of gold

I noticed they were discussing on how long each opening is and what they would even fill up some of the openings with that weren't spoilers for the anime! Fun fact, a lot of the openings will actually have cover pages to certain chapters in the manga animated for these openings.
Since it's in literally episode one or two. Can't remember which. I wouldn't categorize it as a spoiler but the guy with the red hair and the scar on his face is shanks. He is the one who inspired Luffy when he was a little kid to become a pirate in the first place. That hat luffy is wearing since the first episode was originally shanks's hat but he gave it to Luffy which has an enormous amount of sentimental value to Luffy since it belonged to his childhood hero. Just in case anyone tries to outcry that this is a spoiler in the comments. It is not. It is literally in episode one or two.
I don't think Naruto is trash ,I'm glad I watched it but I love one piece far more despite growing up with dbz and Naruto, Naruto is just very rushed especially the war arc which was dogshit
Speaking of characters singing, Bleach has a few CDs with characters singing stuff. It's entertaining. There's one crazy guy who sounds crazy even when he sings, and there's another one that sings completely out of character.
I'm sure it's been said a long time ago by now, but in case anyone is still curious, One Piece intros eventually got about 60 seconds longer because they cut out the endings all together. Usually, an opening and an ending of an anime together is about 3mins, so this gives the different channels that air One Piece on broadcast TV in Japan an extra 30 seconds or so... to fill with commercials! Toei did this experiment with One Piece, I'm not sure if similar shows with high ratings do something similar, but it seems like not many other anime shows do as much. (and versus, America, they do almost the opposite, speed up the broadcast show endings and cut out any sort of theme song or introduction for more time to fill with ads) Sometimes it does have a lot of recap, especially on the more complicated story plots... but it's related to the intro being so much longer (which it really only done to hide more ads). I guess it also allows One Piece to get bigger named pop stars to do openings since they are only licensing one song now instead of two... but I guess that is another way in which they are trying to save money and maximize profits.
They're not wasting time with the openings. When they doubled the time of the openings, they removed endings, so it's actually the same time on the episodes, but that way they didn't end up with too many endings There was already 18 endings by the time they reached the point where they sopped doing them
Despite being a very long anime/manga, One Piece gets better each arcs (not really uniform increase but still increasing). One could say the most recent arc is the best arc in the whole One Piece.

Reason why the Openings are long is because there are no outros. Also, there aren’t that many fillers let alone flashbacks. One piece is the epitome of story telling and adventure. At some point in time the anime ditches the endings so they make the openings longer (paused to explain, I’ll continue to watch now...)
Edit;
Thanks for the reaction.

Lots of people get intimidated by the length of series when thinking about starting One Piece, but it's easily its strength and weakness.
One Piece is freaking amazing
This is coming from someone who doesn't really like anime
One Piece was the first anime I officially started watching when I was about 11. And I remember not caring much about the technical stuff (visual quality, framerate, animation etc.) and the amount of filler because I got to be with the straw hat pirates on this adventure. I just wanted to be with them without judging anything about the writing and stuff. And I still don't want to care because stories have to be felt instead of judged. And boy did I feel this story. It felt like I was literally there alongside them and I was always depressed when I came back into the real world.
That's how you make a good story. One where the audience gets lost in the world and experiences everything as if it was real.
Same !!
"Zorro is just like a sword boy."
How did you know his official title?!
"I don't even watch the show and i'm sad they got a new ship"
oh you sweet summer child, if only you knew
Yes
i read the manga, and watch the anime, and to no suprise, both of the first eps/chapters got me hooked just as easily. i think the sounds and ost's in the anime really support the feeling of the story, but now and then i like to take a break and just read!
"I'm sad they got a new boat"
*PSTD flashbacks of Merry*
*sobs
"since the 80s." Nah, not that long. The manga started in 97.
But yeah if you do indeed decide to check out One Piece, I do recommend reading the manga. The anime does do some parts better, but overall the manga is of a more solid quality. And there are things in the manga that the anime _does not have_ so with the anime you're not getting the full story. And if you read it as the tankobon-volumes instead of an online chapter-by-chapter publication, yo get to enjoy Oda's reader question corners in all their canon-expanding madness.

2- Its from the late 90s not 80s

the first op repeating wasnt a mistake! the voice of the singers are the straw hat crew :’) they sang it and used it in some point of the series again
When you're caught up with one piece you'll instantly go to reaction videos lol
Man, it feels painful when people misunderstand and underestimate the show, its so fucking good man. And there's no ED
Every youtuber that listen to op 7 :
WTF is that ?
Every viewer :
Here we go again
The thing is that you guys are getting spoiled, but I would say that the series is still worth reacting, it's probably the most popular series and with the most loyal fans
And one of The MOST TOXIC FANBASE
@@nevergonnagiveupuntilibeco5690 lol, not really.
I noticed they were discussing on how long each opening is and what they would even fill up some of the openings with that weren't spoilers for the anime! Fun fact, a lot of the openings will actually have cover pages to certain chapters in the manga animated for these openings.
This video is their most popular... just lol
Btw, op > naruto
Since it's in literally episode one or two. Can't remember which. I wouldn't categorize it as a spoiler but the guy with the red hair and the scar on his face is shanks. He is the one who inspired Luffy when he was a little kid to become a pirate in the first place. That hat luffy is wearing since the first episode was originally shanks's hat but he gave it to Luffy which has an enormous amount of sentimental value to Luffy since it belonged to his childhood hero. Just in case anyone tries to outcry that this is a spoiler in the comments. It is not. It is literally in episode one or two.
Man whenever i see luffy's smile it makes me smile😁
Finish Naruto first, cause once you watch One Piece it makes Naruto look like trash
Lmao. True.
I don't think Naruto is trash ,I'm glad I watched it but I love one piece far more despite growing up with dbz and Naruto, Naruto is just very rushed especially the war arc which was dogshit
@@ibeattofeet6938 Naruto was great (fillers not inclued) but Shippuden wasn't (filler not inclued either even if that make half of the series)
Trueee
Poopy bumhole I just don’t like the end bc it was rush ya know lol
And now they cut short the new openings by 30 seconds
They're not wasting time with the openings.
When they doubled the time of the openings, they removed endings, so it's actually the same time on the episodes, but that way they didn't end up with too many endings
There was already 18 endings by the time they reached the point where they sopped doing them
+1 sub, good quality on your videos
The last 2 openings showcase the current arc which started the One Piece anime direction of Tatsuya Nagamine, same director of the Broly movie.
Despite being a very long anime/manga, One Piece gets better each arcs (not really uniform increase but still increasing). One could say the most recent arc is the best arc in the whole One Piece.
