Thank you for a great movie. You have made this old sub tender sailor very happy. I worked on those old diesel electric boats on USS BUSHNELL AS15 many years ago. Keep them coming.
Power was also a Marine Corp pilot flying C-46 transports in the pacific island campaigns. After the war he served in Marine Corp Reserves as a Major while continuing his post-war acting career. He was buried with full military honors.
I always thought Tyrone Power was just “ok” as an actor but I gained a tremendous amount of respect for the man when I saw that “U.S.M.C.R.” under his name in the intro.
Did anybody notice that when Power picked the boy up initially from the rescued boat that the boy had on a life jacket but when the U Boat was seen, the next scene depicts the boy without a life jacket however when Power puts the boy back into the boat, the boy has the life jacket on again?
Tyrone Powers what a class of actor... he made dozens of high budget movies... and die so young... a real american... a poorly recognized... The History of Eddi Duchin, a masterclass movie
I can't understand why the US Navy Captain ordered the submarine to surface when he has not yet thoroughly verified that the ship is a harmless commercial vessel.
Imagine being alive at this time, before the end of our civilization, to witness these beauties like Anne Baxter, Gene Tierney, Linda Darnell and oh so many more, in the flesh. Weep for what was taken from us.
were those Torpedoes the ones that used to fail which cost many men's lives and which the Navy Department hid the truth until years after the war, due to the procurement officer.
Just got back from a world convention held in Washington D.C. and the hotel we stayed at was the Mayflower. I believe it opened in 1928 and had so many doors it quickly became the place to meet up for an affair.
I’ve not watched any older films for decades but I thoroughly enjoyed this & will be watching more of them on this channel from now on!
When it comes to these older movies, remember, Old School is the ONLY school.
At least they can act, in the old movies ❤ loved thanks 👍👍👍

Third time seeing this. A+++ movie.
Did anyone notice the US flag only had 48 stars? Alaska and Hawaii didn't become states until 1959. Great movie.

The entire US MILITARY is called U-2..the us navy us army us marines us coast guard.
04:45. That's one long submarine when the first and third depth charges dropped by a pt boat doing 30 knots both explode next to it.
A real PR movie for those war years.

Tell your president to stop the war!!
@sjefhendrickx2257 Israel is fighting for its very existence leave them be if you don’t want them to survive. I’m of the opposite opinion though.
Why do they always take what could be a good war movie and ruin it with women and romance?
I can't understand why the US Navy Captain ordered the submarine to surface when he has not yet thoroughly verified that the ship is a harmless commercial vessel.
Amazing movie... The greatest generation
A great 1940's movie...in color!
My first time seeing it.
I no I was on an air craft carrier but must of seen a million times
Cigarettes won the War .
Sir Walter Raleigh thank you 🇺🇸
one bit of trivia. No sailor is ever ordered to a submarine. Sub sailors are all volunteers.
He was already sub qualified so he'd volunteered already haha
I will just say I enjoyed the movie what can I say I am ex- Navy! Anchors Away my boy anchors away.
If you were ex-Navy, you would surely know it is 'Anchors Aweigh". Not "away".

Great movie, be sure and buy your war bonds, in the lobby of this theater.

Color doesn't add to the story, but any excuse to watch this again.
The landing party would never of got back to the submarine. After the sub fired her fish.

A world convention?
From what?
MacDonnalds?
The last I knew you had to volunteer for sub service.
He was already sub qualified so he had already volunteered haha
Good movie. America always wins 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yeah the Nazis couldn’t shoot straight .
Fun fact. USA lost that war and WW1. Look around you today, this hellish dystopia is a direct result of those defeats
Hahaha you are funny! Ach keep on dreaming!!

Smoking in a sub under attack?. I doubt it.
37:11 there were no African-American sailors serving on USN Submarines in WW2.
NOT TRUE See hamptonroadsnavalmuseum.blogspot.com/2023/06/african-american-sailors-in-silent.html
หนังเรื่องนี้ผมยังไม่เกิดเกิด1944ครับ
No to ja 2 lata po tobie....
All the men who are going to do the dirty work when the Sub surfaces, have darkened their faces. All except the Captain. Not Good practice.
Too much romance. I'd expected more sub action given the title of the film. But still a good film.
Great movie funny 1/8/25
Son of the seas NAVY 🫡🫡🫡
Great film spoiled by the cringe ending. Sort of expected it though. 😂
Guess what happens about every six minutes
