the only problem I have with the Northman is the ending... it could have been a great opportunity to show some brilliantly choreographed sword and shield combat in a metal as fuck setting but it was over quickly everything else is amazing though
There was maybe an opportunity to do some kind of grand duel ending like Dune, but I liked what they ended up going with. Did you just not like the duel in the volcano specifically?

Robert Eggers is one of the few filmmakers allowed to create uncompromising, original and startling product in a near-universally woke-trashed entertainment era. The Witch, The Lighthouse and The Northman are all cinematic triumphs for the discerning viewer. His upcoming version of Nosferatu sets to continue this trend.

I would've enjoyed it but the person I watched it with kept screaming at me like a berserker during the movie and was swinging random objects at me.
