I moved from Thailand with my Mum and sister about 13 years ago my family and I are originally from Zimbabwe now I live in an area called sheffield Beach its about a 10 minute drive from Ballito.
I used to live in the Scottsbrgh area and moved to Cape Town 24 years ago. In the late 80s my company did a weekend team building exercise there at place called LA Montagne. I must say that it's a beautiful place with lovely warm beaches. Here in Cape Town 24 years later and I have not taken a dip in the sea although I lived for few years just a km from the beach. Fishing I do but not swimming, the Atlantic water is just too cold.
The water is so nice near Durban! When we are at Atlantic beaches we just have to mentally prepare and run in. If we don’t fully commit, one of us will turn around when we get to the water lol thanks so much for sharing! We love hearing about peoples adventures
Love Thompson beach! Do you ever go over to the other side of the hole in the wall to swim? Hopefully next summer we can explore some more beaches in the area
@SavagesAdventures yes we have swum there a couple times....but we prefer to swim on the main beach where the lifeguards are 😅 and in the tidal pool when it's high tide.....the waves splash over in an incredible way
The beaches north of Durban suck. The southern beaches are waaay better. The south was built up many years before the north as holiday spots as the beaches are safer to swim at. Too rocky and beaches not as wide u north, next time go to Toti or even down to Margate.
Umhlanga ❤️

Did you find the nudist beach a bit further north from Umhlanga nature reserve?
No and I’m glad I didn’t 🤣 🤣
Very Cool!
It was so much fun!
FYI: the arch at Thomson's Bay is not natural. It was opened up several decades ago to gain access to the southern beaches.
Ah. I still can’t find much of any history of the beach. Do you know when it was made?
No one said it was. They said "cut out"
used to be nice, gone to shit now. Need to travel further now
Most of these ballito bexhes are good the first 1 is terrible tho
Virgina Beach would have been WAY better experience.

ahhh yes the southern beaches , for when you want to marinate in the poopookaka E coli special🤣.
