    I don't watch the movies of today because the oldies are absolutely the BEST..I love everything about them especially that they there's no vulgarity that you find in almost all movies of today. I've loved them since I was a kid. These movies can be watched by any age. Keep them coming Pizza Flix. I live the variety. You're number one by a long shot👍👍👍

    I love all these amazing films, fantastic actors, stunning scripts, no foul language, no cgi, no violence, just a brilliant film. I do not understand why these days we put these actors on pedestals?? They can’t act, they rely on photo shots, plastic surgery, and cgi. Thank you, thank you, thank you for downloading these wonderful films 💓

    Turhan Bey as Ram Singh and Miles Mander as Tom Armitage. Mander was a man of many talents - character actor, also a film director and producer, and a playwright and novelist. His first wife was Pratibha Devi, a princess of Cooch Behar. She was the daughter of Maharaja Nripendra Narayanand Maharani Suniti Devi of Cooch Behar and paternal aunt of Gayatri Devi, Maharani of Jaipur.
    Turhan Bey was an Austrian-born actor of Turkish and Czech-Jewish origins. Turhan was active in Hollywood from 1941 to 1953. He was dubbed "The Turkish Delight" by his fans.

    One of the actresses in this film, Heather Angel, is perhaps best-known for her portrayal of British nanny "Miss Faversham" in the television series "Family Affair." That character was usually seen in scenes of that TV series wherein the "Davis" twins ("Buffy" & "Jody," portrayed, respectively, by Anissa Jones & Johnny Whitaker)) were accompanied on their daily outings to the park (presumably New York's Central Park) by gentleman's gentleman "Giles French" (and, for a brief period during the illness of Cabot, by John Williams as "Nigel French"), as portrayed by Sebastian Cabot. The "Misters French" were, effectively, male nannies to the "Davis" children, in addition to their cook and valet roles for bachelor "William Davis" (Brian Keith), who presided over his own civil engineering business.
    The scenes with Miss Angel as "Miss Faversham" were usually in the park when she and the other nannies of children, (including whichever "Mr. French") would be seated on a park bench as their respective charges played, "Faversham" and "French" generally chatting away amiably. Though never completely realized to fruition, there had always been a hint of romance between "Giles French" and "Miss Faversham," the latter who also resided for a time with her employing family in the same building as the "Davis" family.
    Many years after her death, the New York-based alternative rock band Sonic Youth recorded a tribute song to Heather Angel, who had also been a film star in mysteries (including the lead role in the original "The Hound of the Baskervilles," Alfred Hitchcock's "Lifeboat," and some of the "Bulldog Drummond" and "Charlie Chan" detective series') during the 1930s and '40s.
    There was also a sad footnote to Miss Angel's career, when she witnessed the stabbing death (by a deranged UCLA - Santa Barbara graduate student) of her third husband, film & stage director Robert Sinclair, in their California home in 1970.

      gymnastix Perhaps that's true of American audiences and younger ones, but I love her in the Bulldog Drummand movies!!!

    • @gymnastix
      @gymnastix 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Perhaps what is "true of American audiences and younger ones?"
      By the way, I mentioned the "Bulldog Drummond" series (your stated favorites of Heather Angel's roles) in my original post, as well Miss Angel's roles in "The Hound of the Baskervilles" (1931, the first, British version) and "Lifeboat" (1944, directed by Alfred Hitchcock), all high-profile films but one ("Baskervilles") of which were produced by film companies based in the United States of America. So whatever your implication about "American audiences" should take that into account.
      As for "younger ones," I am not sure your implication there either. By inference, I take you are considering anyone born after the initial releases of the "Drummond" films to be "younger," and that you were born at such a time as to have been cognizant of the "Drummond' films when such were newly-released features in cinemas, meaning you were at least a child in the 1940s (and about 75 years of age now). If that is not the case, you are also part of the "younger ones" who would only know of the "Drummond' films from the perspective of hindsight, meaning you first watched them on either television or as home video re-releases.
      If there was any major oversight in my previous post about Miss Angel, it is my neglect to mention she was the voice of "Mary Darling" in Walt Disney's "Peter Pan" (1953), which would be a major point in any actor or actress' film biography, as Disney films then were a worldwide phenomena.
      I should also have mentioned Miss Angel portrayed a recurring character (1964-65) in the ABC prime-time soap opera "Peyton Place," based on the novel by Grace Metalious, the series effectively launched the careers of actress Mia Farrow and actor Ryan O'Neal.
      Miss Angel also portrayed Margaret Gates Wallace, mother in-law of President Harry S. Truman, in the 1979 NBC television mini-series "Backstairs at the White House." It was the final role of Miss Angel, also her last high-profile role, since Miss Angel's final cinematic releases ("Gone with the West" and "Premature Burial") were not widely seen; "West" never distributed in theaters, "Burial" an American International Picture (AIP) release directed by cult auteur Roger Corman and seen mainly in drive-in and smaller cinematic venues.

    • @dawnklug6986
      @dawnklug6986 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Which character did Ms Angel play in "Premature Burial"? Was it the "sister"? I have watched most all of the old AI movies with Price, Rathbone, Lorre in them. I do remember "Mrs Faversham" as I was a pre-teen during FA's run.

    POSSIBLE SPOILERS: I thought when the writer picked up the knife, he was setting himself up as a suspect by putting his fingerprints on it. And why did he pick it up anyway? Who does that? And I have to say I hated, I mean hated, the ending. So many movies of this period wussed out at the end. Edward G Robinson's The Woman in the Window another example.

      Yes, endings like that were made more popular by "Wizard of Oz", imo.

    She didn't care whose fault it was, she was tired of the maid's insolence and she will be out the following morning - maybe that extra night inside is why the maid is bothering to p.u. the broken dishes. Of course the lowly servant couldn't specifically mention the man's name because he was her better.

    I loved the spinster recounting romantic poetry while an Indian intruder is being stabbed in the back. Odd humor.
