Definitely around the windows is where the water is coming in those 70's GM G bodys are notorious for that. Gotta make sure the doors are closed tight. She's looking good Lee ! 👍😉✌
Go with the buckets and a console. You could cover the shifter hole with a small aluminum plate. Cover the top of the other door and spray the visors black. Sometimes its the little things that sell a car in my experience. 100% I agree change the steering wheel. Nice cheap build series.
So true about the little details making a big difference and often for little outlay. Makes a car , gets the sale and gives you satisfaction at the same time 👍
Love the cars and enjoy the fact you finish your cars or talk about it for 3 episodes and turn the wrench on the 4th and talk about it again for another 3 best of luck for future videos and stuff
Lee, Just leave bench seat in you can just get a bench cover for the bottom cushion and let the rest go, They can redo the seat when they buy it from you.
That old seat is awesome. If you don't keep it in there, it should either go with the car, so the new owner can get it redone, or you should keep it for another project.
The car’s looking great as usual. I’d leave the bench seat. Get the adjuster to work so it can be moved back and forth then throw a Mexican blanket over it and call it a day. Shoot I might even rhino liner the floor and leave that with no carpet for now as well. Anyway, whatever you decide I’m sure will be great as usual. Keep up the great work!
Try the POR patch . Same as you been using but a gel great for a trunk gutter under trunk lid seal if it has pin hole in it. Can run tape on bottom side dries hard as a rock then glue trunk lid seal in
Paint the mirrors black fix the passenger door to look like driver door . I would also use the vinyl fabric spray paint black on the lower door panel plastic . Mexican blanket on seat 👍🏻
I think it’s definitely worth going with the bucket seats and doing that passenger side door top to match the driver side, even if you only spray it satin black
Hi ya, I don't know if you have the same problem I had, my windscreen leaked at the top and bottom plus my cowl rotted out so rain drained passed my heater into passenger side which then drained to behind the passenger seat, could be just your door seals , probably best to do a series of elimination tests starting with the door seals, I taped a piece of plastic over each piece of body and glass until I found the problem, good luck
I say Tac weld the buckets in there, replace the top of the passenger door panel. I hate when people paint the roof body color or gloss black where the vinyl was. Rhino lining the roof looks great.
Your cowl could have some rust holes in it and water is getting in through there, also you can get water coming in through the drip rails on some cars. Not sure how the drip rails are attached to a 76 El Camino, but in my 71 Mach 1 Mustang I have a leak that comes in through the drip rail molding. The drip rail in the Mustangs is screwed into the door and roof frame, it is factory sealed with a foam gasket that just breaks down through the years. It's an easy fix with just some silicone sealer.
I am really jealous! You have all kinds of help at your home on your projects. The orange kitties are particularly interested! My cats don't help at all. 🚗🚙
I was thinking about your weather stripping problem on the el Camino. A friend of mine used some RTV to fix his, but leave the windows down till it drys. My buddy made that mistake and had to do it twice.
Leave the bench in it. Repair the passenger door panel top. Buff it out and sell it. If you can get the weather stripping cheap enough, replace it. Forget about the wheels. If you can’t pick up used mags for $50 or less a wheel, forget about it. Let the next guy buy what he wants for it.
If the moisture barrier is missing behind door panel and it’s not turned back into door shell so water runs back in door so it can drain back out the bottom it will run out behind door panel into the car. I use roofing paper
I reckon if you want a thicker rubber Matt look for the floor you could try Schutz gun it , that’s pretty cheap l bought six litres of schutz and a gun off eBay recently for just under £40
I would go with the bucket seats.i really dig the 1976 body.. since I grew up then maybe is why..I've seen guys use bed truck linear in a can with a paint roller and it looks great even give the look of vinyl top . awesome work brother....
I know you're not looking to spend money, but how about covering the visors and the upper right side of the passenger door with your black vinyl so they match the left side door. Even if you don't do anything with the seats, that would look a little
Might just as well put the original seat in it and let the new owner decide what they want. That way, they have the correct seat to redo if they want. Put a blanket over it and call it a day. The buyer you'll likely attract probably won't be all that fussy. Just someone looking for something cool and cheap. You won't be drawing any collectors.
It's the small stuff that sells cars and a bit more attention to the things you know need doing will bring a quicker sale at a better price in my opinion. Like the way the door turned out you have to do that on the passenger door too! Paint the visors and put the buckets and the console in - you can block off the shifter in 30 minutes! Look forward to seeing how that paint buffs out and what the rig looks like with a new set of old wheels. Nice job so far, but "don't let the ship sink for a h'peth of tar", as we say in England - do those small things to reap the rewards!
What about the front seat/seats out of that black and primer car that sits next to the fifth wheel camper that shows up at 33:22? Its pretty much the same car only not an el Camino.
@@clunkersandclassics yeah mate l get you, what about the old f body trick and putting something behind the existing rubber to pack it out a bit? I’ve seen that work pretty well before apart from one numbskull who used newspaper lol
im a new sub so i dont know but cant you use parts off that 76-77 2 dr chevelle i saw on your property? or is that a future project? or is it already parted out inside..lol
isnt that the same as a malibu?? maybe there's an Iraqi Taxi with some nice seats and maybe the weatherstripping is cheaper. just like a alternator for a Cadillac is double than a chev but same alternator . ( old days )
The elcimeno looks great!!!!
Thanks!
Definitely fit those bucket seats and a console, will look way better.
Definitely around the windows is where the water is coming in those 70's GM G bodys are notorious for that. Gotta make sure the doors are closed tight. She's looking good Lee ! 👍😉✌

Put the bucket seats in it looks better then old bench seat don’t worry about a council
Yes to the buckets i think they will look good
It's starting to come together brother 🙏.
Definitely do the top of the passenger door to match the drivers side it looks good.

Fantastic job!
Awesome!!!
80,s camaro wheels look good on Elcaminos.
just found a set

I'll figure it out eventually
Maybe get the hose out and spray the car and see where the water is coming in and weather changing maybe clear some room to pull Nomad inside shop.
Just bought every weather strip and window felts inter an outer and back glass seal in a kit for 1991 S-10 Jegs 165.00
Lololo my company vehicle was blue and really ran great , I bitted on it for 375.00 and got it
Now in barn and resting
57 thousand miles

As some would say the hand is quicker than the eye... sweet..

Did you not have a extra Wal-Mart console. Think the buckets would look good. Thanks Lee for sharing!
Wal Mart no longer sells consoles, just like they no longer sell gallons of bondo.
Going to send some cash. But, don’t need a another bumper sticker. Just for your discretion.
@@terryeustice5399 Thanks!
I was thinking about your weather stripping problem on the el Camino. A friend of mine used some RTV to fix his, but leave the windows down till it drys. My buddy made that mistake and had to do it twice.
I just bought new stuff
Probably for the best it looked cheap but it did stop the rain from getting his seat wet
Just spray the upper right side passenger door with some black paint that'll get it close
Take those American Racing Prime wheels off The Nomad put them on the El Camino and get you a nice set of wheels like you want for the nomad..
I might
If the moisture barrier is missing behind door panel and it’s not turned back into door shell so water runs back in door so it can drain back out the bottom it will run out behind door panel into the car. I use roofing paper
could you put seat covers over it but you are doing a good job of the Chevy good Work
Thanks Lee for the video, I think you should do the other door card to match since you have the material so they can leave it like that for a while?
Time to sell it, excellent job Lee
Get those weather stripings
Looks good to ME.
Like your little cat 🐈 buddy.
That connector by the AC Compressor has, what they called, an AC thermal limiter relay already plugged into it.
I reckon if you want a thicker rubber Matt look for the floor you could try Schutz gun it , that’s pretty cheap l bought six litres of schutz and a gun off eBay recently for just under £40

Car looks good put those buckets in it they look decent
I know you're not looking to spend money, but how about covering the visors and the upper right side of the passenger door with your black vinyl so they match the left side door. Even if you don't do anything with the seats, that would look a little
I think the original seat belongs in the El. M atbe use the hillbilly repair kit (duct tape).
Are you going to be going back to the Nomad soon! Everyone on YT is doing cheap flip cars, but the Nomad is unique.
yes, working on it now
The wheels off the wagon would look good
Might just as well put the original seat in it and let the new owner decide what they want. That way, they have the correct seat to redo if they want. Put a blanket over it and call it a day. Just a Indian blanket seat cover would help
How about around the front and rear window channels for your leak??
front leaks but not enough to create that big of a puddle
Did these not have plastic behind the door panel like other cars did? Could be where the water is getting in. At least, that's what it was for me.
No, just what's in the video was behind the door panels
Would any of the SUV's you have match the bolt pattern on the El?
Leave the bench, every mismatched part you add just makes it look more worked over
Will the Benchseat from the chevy pick-up, that you took the ls motor from, fit into the El-camino??
The Benchseat from the 2001 Silverado LS Donor truck, looked nice...Part32 of the nomad video at like 3:50 time frame
it's not a bench plus it's sold
What about the front seat/seats out of that black and primer car that sits next to the fifth wheel camper that shows up at 33:22? Its pretty much the same car only not an el Camino.
it's a friends car
Is there any universal door seal rubber that’s within budget mate ? Like for rv doors and windows 👍
it has to fit exact or it'll leak
@@clunkersandclassics yeah mate l get you, what about the old f body trick and putting something behind the existing rubber to pack it out a bit?
I’ve seen that work pretty well before apart from one numbskull who used newspaper lol
Do touch up , than clear coat no buffing should come out pretty good, buffing won't last like you say.
Go with buckets
im a new sub so i dont know but cant you use parts off that 76-77 2 dr chevelle i saw on your property? or is that a future project? or is it already parted out inside..lol
it's a friends car
Hey ! Do you need a 🐈 or two ?
BUCKETS!!!!!!!
Is that a miata next to the hudai?
yes, not much left
Go cheaper, buy 2xl black t-shirts and cover seat backs, blanket for bench seat.
Well... Since it's not worth that much. Save some man hour cost and keep the bench seat. Stink should be gone by now or close to.
isnt that the same as a malibu?? maybe there's an Iraqi Taxi with some nice seats and maybe the weatherstripping is cheaper. just like a alternator for a Cadillac is double than a chev but same alternator . ( old days )
why dont you use the seat out of the primer black Malibu. your buddy's I think you said
because it's my friends car, not going to steal his seats
Awesome!!!
