A Day in the Life of a Michigan State Police Trooper Recruit

  • Seventeen-hour week days, for 22 weeks.
    "The Michigan State Police 129th Trooper Recruit School started on March 27th, 2016 and it started with 60 recruits And this is one of the most diverse recruit school in state police history," Sergeant Dwayne Gill said.
    Based on military training, the school is a very specific and tough process.
    "Our academy is para military and so we will instruct them in marching and how to keep their military demeanor, whether they're squaring corners or saluting in their chain of command," Trooper Tedric Gibbs said. "A lot of their training goes into the MSP history as well in the beginning. We want them to have a firm foundation of the department that they've chosen to come in. As well first aid, throughout the school, but first aid, firearms, and obviously physical training, that starts their day and tries to prepare their mindset for the day."

    • @spencerstraka5230
      @spencerstraka5230 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Logan Klaeren not MSP recruit school. Many marines I've talked to said it's just as hard if not harder than boot camp because of the swimming and academic portion.

    • @MeineEhreheisstTreu1
      @MeineEhreheisstTreu1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spencer Straka But compared to your average recruit, vets will have an advantage with drill/ceremony, attention to detail, firearms training, as well as physical standards. That way you'll be able to focus more on the academics than stress over the other details. It's not easy by any means, but it's a huge advantage.

      A friend of mine was a boy scout for years who then became an Eagle Scout. He then joined the Marines. Following that, he became a Mich state cop.
      It's pretty interesting to read up on how many famous and driven people got their start in Boy Scouts.

      @@axelfoley1406 cool story bro.
      I dropped out of high school 2 years early to join a military academy to graduate in 6 months.
      Joined the army as an infantryman, and earned my CIB in 2011.
      But to be a cop you have to be below a certain intelligence level, they don't want people that think for themselves.
      Now I work for a industrial company making more in 6 months then a cop does in 2 years.

      @BoomerLemon What the hell: different topic?? The topic is police brutality and you sound like a cop. Whatever they do in that recruit school, it obviously doesn't include addressing brutality and overt racism. Police forces around the country seem to purposely, specifically and intentionally hire idiots who can't read or refuse to read the U.S. constitution.
