- I am always excited to eat what I have grown, it's more exciting when you can enjoy all parts of your plants for example, not only eating pumpkin but eating the leaves too.
Hello family, I hope all is well, you are all soo welcome here. If we are meeting for the first time, I am Sarah Pedun.
In today's video, Fiona is going to share with us how to cook pumpkin leaves.
I hope you enjoy the video, kindly subscribe if you haven't already.
Kind regards.
Is Fiona your sister? I’ve heard that squash and pumpkin leaves were edible, but this is the first time I’ve heard a good lesson on how. 🙏🏻
Every part of the pumpkin is edible, including the seeds.
Fiona is my cousin, thank you for the lovely feedback,
@@aunties5798 my favorite is the seeds, roasted and salted.

Wow! Interesting! That reminds me of Pumpkin leaves (Essuunsa) in Luganda language. We used to enjoy it mixed with fresh beans with a little cow ghee and shallots. Enjoy that yummy dish. ❤

03:09 Fiona "It is very good to have this for lunch more than dinner."
Sarah "Why?"
Fiona "Aye!" (That mean why you asking such hard questions) 🤣
I just love you two! 😊
Interesting way of cooking these leaves. I might have to try cooking some leaves in peanut butter. You lost me with the okra. Our national dish 🇹🇹 callaloo is made something like this but with dasheen bush/taro leaves and okra cooked in coconut milk plus hot pepper and other seasonings onion etc. Just as how Fiona strips the stems of those leaves is how you prepare the taro leaves otherwise it causes an itchy throat. I was forced to eat okra so much as a child I never ate it again as an adult. Can't stand the slimy texture. 😝
Fiona, Fiona 😂that is exactly what she said 😂I understand you stand with okra, we shall attempt your national dish on day, I hope we do it justice. Thank you for loving us, we love you.
@@sarahpedun8769 That's sweet you want to try it. I'm sure there are dozens of recipes online. Some translations ochro=okra, chives=scallions/green onions/spring onions, celery=chinese celery. You can safely ignore any meat called for in the recipe without sacrificing flavour, but traditionally it's a 2 inch piece of pig tail or salt pork. Served with ground provisions aka root vegetables (sweet potato, cassava, yam etc.) Happy to help if you ever need more info.
Because you will get diarrhea
