RECOMENDATION: Be aware in Pino Suarez and Zocalo Linea 2 (blue) these stations are very crowd and is dangerous for pockets. So keep cell phones and wallets in backpack never in pockets. Cause everyone national o foreigners have a high risk to be pickpocketed. I recomend always travel with backpack in front you never back.

Hi Brittany, I have gone on the metro from the airport to the main plaza and back a few times. One thing to remember. Mexico is home to millions of people. The Metro is cheap and so everyone uses it. During the morning hours when they are going to work/school and in the late afternoon when returning home, the trains become a sea of people. It's best to avoid being a "sardine" and just use the metro at the other times of the day.
Glad I could be of help. 😀
      See you in Mexico!

You will have so much fun, I am jealous. I am going to San Miguel in September and flying into the Queretaro airport. I read that it is very quiet compared to Mexico City. I will get to explore Queretaro and San Miguel, but I really love CDMX. They have the architecture and museums like nowhere else in Mexico. I liked the subway too, but did not ride it with my suitcases.

Hey Mike, thanks for posting this video! I've been to Mexico City before and am familiar with the metro system but was having a devil of a time trying to find super detailed instructions on how to access the Terminal Aerea station from the airport. Like others have mentioned, I would say taking the metro is totally fine if your luggage does not consist of anything larger than a carry-on. While depending on the station, there will most likely be several flights of up and down stairs if you're transferring, which, in addition to being hyper-aware of pickpockets/the ever-present crowds (more so if you are headed to the zocalo) may drive one batty, especially if you've had a long journey to get to Mexico City or if you're not too keen on lugging bags up and down stairs.

So I had to figure it out (asking people, etc), then shoot the video to make it seem like I knew where I was going. I love adventures like this ... trying to figure out where to go next. Just beware at the transfers at Pantitlán and Pino Suárez, as they are two of the busiest transfers and you can get pickpocketed due to the sheer amount of people.
I'd advise, if you are only taking the train between Zócalo and Pino Suárez, would prefer to avoid the crowd and you are in the mood to walk a little; there is a passage between the two stations that you can take and is basically a giant bookstore, but nonetheless, still keep an eye open, you can never be too cautious from pickpocketers.
    P.S. Good video.

    " Terminal aérea "
is the yellow line and in metro just follow the indications to the color of the line you need to go.

Hi Jerome, When you arrive to Terminal 2, go up the escalator and walk to the far end of the building. Turn right and then stay to the left of where you will see people entering the security area to fly out. Just follow the train icon signs. Train in Spanish is the same ... Tren. There will be security people who will want to see your ticket. After that, you just wait for the train. There is a timer clock to tell you when the next train arrives. It is pretty simple.
If you have any other questions, just let me know.

    I. Was in New York 1991 and Itook the train who goes to long Island and pass through grand Channel station
In that seccion you can see the J.F.Kennedy airport. I want to tell you something the subway system in New York is older than the system in México City. The metro is newer came from 1969 and start with the pink line. Now the brown line wich you show us es newest it was built in the the 80S. Is why I gave credit to the N.Y. subway system precisely 'cause came almost from the 20s.

Hey Traveler Man, the answer is Yes.
You can use the Uber app to get a driver to pick you up at the Mexico City Airport and take you to your hotel.
If you have not been to the MC airport before, there are two terminals. So you would have to let the Uber folks know which terminal you are arriving at.
In Terminal 1, each door to the street has a number (Puerto 1, Puerto 2, etc). If you are in T1, then let Uber know which door to meet you at.
For Terminal 2, I am guessing that you would meet the driver where the taxis are. Again, the Uber app should let you know the pickup location at T2.
      Hope this helps.
      Enjoy Mexico City!

So I was in the metro system for much longer than it would have normally taken to arrive to the city center. My best guess is that it would take about 30-40 minutes if you are not there during the morning and afternoon rush hour. I have traversed this route during the afternoon rush and would not recommend using the underground Metro at that time. It's CRAZY-PACKED with a zillion people going home. They cancelled the new beautiful X airport design. The new president cancelled the project due to problems with the land being too wet for the construction and some corrupt dealings that were supposedly done by the previous administration. The design recently won an award despite it being cancelled. I am not even Mexican and I know this because I love new airports and it would have been the most modern and biggest airport in the Americas, but that won't be the case now. Now they will be building something basic. I'm devastated as it would have been a good symbol and investment for Mexico.

      Hi Mary,
I agree. The metro/subway in Mexico City can be very confusing. That's why I created this video.
FYI - At the same time I was creating this video, it was also my very first time traveling this route from the airport to the city center. I had to figure out what train and where to go as I was filming. So it was an adventure for me.
Fortunately, the taxis and Ubers are relatively inexpensive from the airport.
      It's nice to have choices.
      See you in Mexico. 😊

      Hi Marcus,
That's a good question. Here would be my answer.
Generally, Mexican folks are courteous and helpful.
In small towns, they are happy that you took the time to visit their town.
In large cities, folks are still usually helpful and try to communicate with you even if you do not speak Spanish.
In the beach resort areas, those who work in tourism (of course) are trained to be helpful and nice. Some of the vendors (but not all) in the markets in these beach resort areas may be a bit pushy ... but they are only trying to make a living.
Overall, I would tell you that Mexico it is a very welcoming country.
Personally, one of the top reasons I keep going back to Mexico is because of the hospitality of the people.
Hope this helps. If you have any other questions about Mexico, just let me know. I will do my best to assist you.

2019 and the old airport still stands and it will forever stand because the new president had the "bright" idea to cancel the new airport project. What a stupid idea!!

The cancellation was a great idea, it was cancelled because the project was not viable due to terrain conditions. The new airport is under construction and is going to be operational before the cancelled project was expected to be ready, also the construction is going to cost way less that the original airport and you get to keep two airports because the original project contemplated the demolition of the current airport. The Mexican government is saving a lot of money and preserving existing infrastructure, it was the right decision in the end.
