The action and fight scenes in this movie are incredible. I always felt this movie was criminally underrated. It never gets old no matter how many times I watch it.

2:03 - The reason this is my favorite fight scene throughout the entire movie. Yazoo's and Loz's offensive coordination within this choreography is unparalleled.
I like that he is in red. And that the trees sorta resemble our current interpretation of the mind. Its a Spiritual battle. And Vincent represents the blood that Saves. In the battle of the mind against sin. (You cant tell me that FF legacy aint about Spiritual warefare. Consider FFX enemy was Sin)

I first watched the movie when I was 14 now I'm 30. Omg time flies, the action scenes are just as awesome as I remember. It's already 2022 but this 2006 animation is still top tier.
The choreography is incredible, it's almost impossible to look away! If only modern action movies took more inspiration from this kind of stuff instead of the chaotic cuts, shaky cam, and explosions.
I loved the details as well, how they took the gun from Loz' his belt, but also how Cloud stayed mid-air in the fight. It's really creative and they made use of the environment all the time too. The people who put this together did really well.
God there was a solid summer where me and my cousin would fall asleep watching this every night I would wake up to one winged angel playing on the select screen because it was a dvd. What a time to be alive.
The fact that Cloud can take on 2 enemies at once while suffering from Geostigma is a testament of how strong he really is (that and the fact that he can slash through giant boulders with ease lol).
You're actually underselling Cloud. He's fighting Loz and Yazoo in this scene. They're both aspects of Sephiroth. And Loz previously nodiffed Tifa. They may not even be half as strong as Sephiroth, but they would still be some of the strongest fighters on the planet. Probably stronger than most 1st Class SOLDIERs. And they are working together flawlessly. The fact that Cloud can even fight them at all is impressive.
Ikr Rhe complete version is thousand times better and has the most iconic scenes. I saw the incomplete version first and was confused and betrayed when I saw the complete one and got that Zack scene. Priceless

I loved FFVII as a kid, and Advent Children was an awesome follow-up story that reminded me of that same joy as I was going into adulthood. A serious career goal for me would be to one day pay homage to this fight in a film of my own.

First thing first, Phantom Menace was filmed by real actors on a real stage (albeit with CGI background obviously), whose any fantastic movement was limited by human physiology with the help of acrobatic tools such as cables and wires. Let us admit that we still felt Darth Maul was pulled by some kind of wire when he did the somersault. FFAC on the other hand, was not bound by that limit. The actors are only used for simple motion capture, but the whole movement and choreography was made from CGI without any gravity nor anatomical restriction, resulting a more fast paced, accurate, and intricate combat, like completely out of this world. Most movies nowadays uses more CGI to attain that kind of effect, but honestly still hard to top it.
Watching AC after Remake and Rebirth makes it even more obvious how strong Cloud actually is. Any of these guys would have basicly solo'd the rest of the party, but Cloud takes on all three of them while also technically being weakened.

My eyes werent use to this technical marvel when it released. A massive transition from the original game to 3d models, I couldn't adapt to how they looked as I remembered the characters (anime style) and the strange gestures they made as I wasn't use to that either (strong Japanese gestures) But now I can watch it with huge appreciation, can't believe this was made in the 2000s(?)
Fun fact: When Loz uses his super speed ability, he's animated separately at the same speed as everyone else, then sped up, integrated back into the scene and synced up with the rest of the animation. This was an entirely new technique at the time they were making this movie. The software they used to achieve the effect ended up named the "Loz Engine" after him, and it's still used in animated filmmaking to this day AND still bears his name.
This movie was supposed to show Cloud moving on from the loss of Aerith. It didn’t do justice as his relationship with Tifa who has always been there never developed. The closest we had was both of them lying in a bed of flowers and that was it.
This movie runs entirely fueles by Rule of Cool. And the rule of cool here is powerful enough to ignore physics. I love the implication thats just that how insanely strong they are. Case in point: average sized man with a sword thats as big and heavy as him lounges full force and overhead-swings a noticeable smaller man with a noticeable smaller sword. And this smaller man is able to cancel all that momentum simply by strikibg back, with such force even gravity takes half a second to affect again the deflected dude.
Also gotta rant. THEY CHANGED THIS KEY THEME IN THE COMPLETE VERSION. Man, I was so upset, yes the fight scene still plays out beautifully, but I have very strong childhood memories of this fight and its theme. The new theme just felt awkward
I wish this movie let other characters do more than they did. Most of hte screentime is spent on new characters, side-characters, or Cloud/Tifa. Red XIII even has only one line of dialogue. That's criminal. At least we can see that Vincent can easily go toe-to-toe with Cloud and the Remnants.
That was because of the original intent of the film. Originally it was just suppose to be a 20 minute long ova episode detailing clouds thoughts and feelings regarding tifa and his new family, as well as aerith and Zack. But the concept of a new ff7 project was so popular they expanded it to a big grandiose action packed movie affair rather than the more completive quiet original intention
Final fantasy is what really got me on to anime and especially this movie aswell but this fight scene really moved me especially with the cold soundtrack
I doubt it will be in FF7 Remake (if that's what you meant) as this fight isn't from the original FF7 game. However, I feel FF7Remake was in some aspects inspired by Advent Children so we might see something similar implemented as part of the OG story.
