    These engines are very under-rated. Superbly reliable and just as fast as any other 5hp engine. Not much aftermarket support but hopefully that changes.

    Your awesome man. I found one of these engines on the side of the road. It’s missing carbaurator. Air filter and gas tank.

    I have the same engine on my BillyGoat blower. I had just repaired the blower diverter and the engine was running loud before just stopping. I was thinking a valve lifter broke but when I took the valve cover off I found the cam lifter wheel on the topside had imploded into the engine. Lots of hours on the engine and wondered whether to repair or just replace

      Yeah that's how I typically see them fail, luckily the engines are cheap to replace.

    The flywheel nut torque setting is 52 Newton Metres, don't torque the crap out of it or else you'll crack it since it's made out of Aluminium !

    Great video but I'm disappointed you didn't mess with the valves. I have this motor and the intake valve is stuck. I was watching this video to see if how to change it.................

    • @MechannibalGarage65
      @MechannibalGarage65  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine were fine so I didn't need to take them out, but the only way to access them is by removing the piston. They aren't as accessible as a traditional style engine and a normal valve compressing tool won't work so you will have to great creative with a way to compress the spring enough to remove the valve keepers.

    Just found one of these engines and I'm looking to restore it though the one thing holding me back from opening it up is that brownish tube underneath the air filter and to the side of the gas tank. For mine it just hangs there not connected to anything and I wondered if that's how it is or it may be broken for me?
    Edit: I just found my answer it's a tube attached to the carb but from what it seems like it hangs there so I should be all good 👍

      They're similar but not the same, there's a lot of small changes to allow oil to move around right as well different machining to the blocks.

    I see that you put the Honda 5HP overhead Cam on a minibike with a mikuni style carb and a header pipe, looks great, what did you do with the GOVERNOR. My brother has a cool minibike with very little room for an engine , but the Honda OHC 5HP fits perfect, I plan on setting it up just like the blue minibike in your video.
    How did you make the header fit, where did you get the intake manifold for the Carb, and do we remove the Governor?
    I liked the video, very informative, thanks.

    • @MechannibalGarage65
      @MechannibalGarage65  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the fine details are in the ARCO minibike episode but the governor is just bypassed, I left the components in the motor and then just removed the external parts. Intake is just a normal predator one I made fit, and I had to custom make the header.

    • @MechannibalGarage65
      @MechannibalGarage65  ปีที่แล้ว

      The last option to try to get it off is risky so be careful. Break the mounting nut loose and then thread the nut back onto the crank a few thread, place a pry bar between the engine and flywheel and apply a little pressure while simultaneously hitting the nut with a hammer. The nut will be sacrificial so make sure you're hitting it and not the crank for flywheel itself.

    3:16 "5/8" output shaft size" ??? I think you mean 3/4" or more specifically 19.05 mm diameter and 58.5 mm length per Honda specifications.

    • @MechannibalGarage65
      @MechannibalGarage65  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd have to measure it to know if it's within spec, a very small amount is okay but I'd say the case/crank bushings are worn out. I don't recall if they're replaceable or not though.

    • @jamesgibson5876
      @jamesgibson5876 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's called end play . If all else is good and the end play is a huge problem shim it ? It's even possible to take a punch and dimple the part of the bearing or case that the crank rides up against and dimple it just litte in several places. Pushing out a bit of material .. to take out some of the slack .. back yard po boy method ... we used to knurl worn out parts to expand the surfaces a bit and reuse them .. .

    Do you know of the different bore sizes for the crankshaft part numbers? I've found #06131-Z8A-W00 and also #06131-Z8A-W30. You said the -W00 is a 5/8" bore, and I am looking for a crankshaft with a 3/4" bore for a #420 chain/mini-bike clutch. Thanks!

    • @MechannibalGarage65
      @MechannibalGarage65  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I might have mis-spoke on the diameter, the one I bought was a 3/4 output shaft and the part number is 06131-Z8A-W00. It looks like the W30 is the weird tapered shaft one so don't buy that one.

    How many times can this particular engine be rebuilt? What are the maximum hours the engine can handle?

    • @MechannibalGarage65
      @MechannibalGarage65  ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't know how many hours but the cylinder bore isn't really machinable so once the stock rings are done then that's about it, can't just re-hone and install new rings/piston

    i have the same engine as you but my output shaft has a measurement of 3/4 inch by 2 inches long might be a little more due to me measuring until the end of the keyway slot. do you know if i can find a clutch for the size or is it a weird one? thanks for posting and ride safe. and i forgot to mention, my engine is a Honda GC160 QHC model like the one on your mini bike.

      @@MechannibalGarage65 you’re right, I did notice that the clutch isn’t hard to find. But however, when I checked out the engine to try to start it I noticed that the camshaft is broken and that’s as far as I got. I know now that I’ll need to order the camshaft and the timing belt, thanks for the feedback and ride safe.
