Meghan Markle vs. Beatrice Borromeo - How Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex is Ruining Christian Dior

- Meghan Markle is apparently obsessed with Christian Dior, but do the looks work? This week, we're comparing Beatrice Borromeo with Meghan Markle when it comes to Dior outfits. While Beatrice soars, Meghan generally looks rather awful in most of her Dior purchases.
From bodices that don't fit to an ugly and unflattering maternity dress, which cost $100,000, but perhaps her greatest fashion sin is purchasing and wearing board shorts from Dior in such a way that look as plain and pedestrian as something that could be picked up from Ann Taylor for a tenth of the price.
Either way, Meghan may love Christian Dior, but it doesn't love her.
In comparison, Beatrice Borromeo almost always looks stunning in Dior. From a haunting black dress to a Grecian goddess look while pregnant, Beatrice almost always knocks it out of the park. Meghan could learn a lot from Beatrice, not only how to dress, but how to actually make Dior look good.

That short outfit just looks messy. I think her body shape is challenging. She does not really have a defined waist. I agree that good tailoring is essential if you can afford it, which Meghan certainly can .Brittany, I think one problem with Meghan is that no one can tell her anything because she always knows best.:)

The worst thing you can do with that type of shape is draw attention to your waistline with belts, bows, etc. She does this often. Anything that cuts you in half at the waist is bad.

I think why you aren't liking the Dior look on her is because of her. It's not her body type or the coloring but the way she carries herself. Her head is always stooped forward and she slumps. Dior is made to be worn by a woman who has a natural regal essence, who is confident and self-assured. She buys the haute styles to try and make herself seems as if she belongs within a class of women that she doesn't fit in with.

I agree. It’s how she carries her body, her posture is not regal. Your posture is vital when wearing designer clothes.
I suspect part of the problem with her posture is the heels. Heels as high as that throw your body weight forward and it's a very difficult task to maintain an upright posture. The heels also look terrible with the shorts - they unbalance the look, as well as her.
Posture is key, but there are other issues too. IMHO, she is VOID of any sense of fit and does not seem to understand that alterations (unless they are being filmed for Netflix) and proper garment care exist. Meghan; meet an iron and a steamer. Also, she seemingly has no knowledge of proper UNDERGARMENTS, including full dress slips. And, what is her issue with strapless ill-fitting bras? Too tight garments with poor undergarments is a complete style killer, particularly when you are being photographed. Photography and flash photography will amplify everything, good and bad. Further, she has NO discernible waist and is not naturally feminine-romantic, for which it does not get much better than BB or Osma. Markle probably does look better in the "career-girl" style or So-Cal casual. I love MB 105mm BB pumps with the Toro heel (I have the 90mm and 70 mm versions), but she needed a lower heeled or flat shoe with her Bermuda shorts, Dior or not. (Note: Having said this she does not like to wear flats or lower heels, because she has overstated her height in the past. Rumors allege that she pretends to be "tall" with "legs that go on forever" and at one point put the words "super-model" on her CV.) Lastly, she wears too much makeup in EVERY setting, regardless of the event and its context. Again, IMHO, she views everything as a HW red carpet event featuring herself. (No war veteran memorials for our Megsy. It is a HW red carpet GALA starring Meghan!) Too much foundation, too much contour, too much bronzer, too much eyeshadow and eyeliner and dense lash extensions. She NEVER takes her foot off the gas with the makeup. The reason we are attracted to BB and Osma is because our human brain understands we are basically looking at the natural person (lightly enhanced by makeup) and they look pretty. Markle's love of heavy-duty Insta makeup makes her look dirty and greasy as well as cheap. And don't get me started on the scraped back hair that seemingly is now starting to cause baldness around her face.
She's the only woman to turn a Dior into a Walmart's sale.

Sorry, but I’ve seen plenty of people wearing Walmart who really looked nice. If you know your body type and stick with colors that you know you look good wearing you don’t have to spend a fortune. Splurging on a look you can repeat or basic item of higher quality is one thing but to spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of plain navy shorts you can pickup anywhere is ridiculous. Catherine has shown repeatedly that it’s not what you pay for something but what look you’re trying to achieve. I’m all about throwing down the money for a special event or for a particular look but these regular clothes can be bought anywhere. Just buy for your body type and learn how to use accessories correctly. She buys by label and price tag which is never a good idea and then clearly buys expensive shoes & purses and she’s done. I thought she looked terrible. Whenever she gains a pound it’s in her middle where she already has no shape so she slaps on that outfit? Does she own a mirror? Look at the picture of her from the side. It looks like the same one taken of her in the navy skirt and white blouse when she was supposedly ‘pregnant’ with Archie? She has that same look here. A box.
Proper fit and appropriate material choice are key. Unfortunately, it seems like Meghan is picking things for an exclusive designer name or price tag, rather than what's best for her body, the weather, and the occasion. There's been too many recent occasions where she's been just so disheveled, which is sad knowing that given the costly accessories that she was wearing meant that she could indeed afford a tailor or professional stylist to help her.
Meghan seems to purchase pieces based on the price tag and/or the designer attached to them. "Look at me; look what I can afford. Aren't I grand?"

Beatrice Borromeo would look elegant in a burlap dress. She really does know how to dress elegantly, unfortunately Meghan doesn't understand her body shape or know how to dress it. I think she's the type of person that thinks the more expensive the clothes the greater the look.
Yes, Ms Borromeo is very elegant and beautiful. She definitely wears the clothes as you say. Some, like MM, believe clothes will alter their figure which of course, they cannot. Clothes are used to cover the body for the sake of modesty and decency while also providing protection from the elements. In order for any clothing or fabric to enhance a person’s look they must be appropriately fit to their body. Some people do not understand this basic truth.

Once I was at an amazing yard sale, at a rural ranch in the Canadian Rockies. Just like "Green Acres", the couple had relocated there several years before from NYC and finally were parting with their city finery. There was every designer label you could dream of and all so small. I bought several items for my daughter and one for me. I picked a CD suit, silk, in a grey and black plaid. It was summer weight and so comfy! The woman who had owned it had the suit customized at CD and there was a tiny size label made just for her with the custom measurements for the suit. Luckily, we are the same height and frame...but it looked much better when I lost some lbs. 😁. Okay so I mention all of this because perhaps none of MM's wardrobe is actually custom fitted, and that they are standard model sizes, gifted, then resold, as some online comments report? They are either way too large, or tight, or cut for a taller person. And the styles and colors just don't flatter her. Her wedding dress looked like a maternity dress, perhaps intentionally to get some gossip going? Love your channel, from a new subscriber. 😊

LMAO The bag with the initials. I had my own promotional company, I dealt with promoting yourself, your company with goods. M's tittle abbreviation bag has me bent over with laughter. That is the last thing a person with her title should do. It says, being Meghan isn't good enough, she has to use her title to elevate her in class. But in this case the use of her title done in this way is sooo wrong and does the complete opposite. Does she really think she is a brand now? How sad is that.
Boy, those shorts give me the creeps, those kind of shorts or pants were the only type my elementary/middle school forced the girls to wear, we were forbidden from wear even a simple pair of jeans. Very old fashioned and honestly didn’t like the school because of bizarre rules like this. From experience, I think I only wore mine maybe the total of 5 times because they were horrible and you could barely be a kid in them, they don’t flatter anyone, unless you’re in a wilderness trip in the middle of nowhere lol.
Also, while Beatrice has some stunning outfits, I’m not sure she is a good inspiration for someone particularly like Markle. Markle has a unique body shape, her torso is a box squarely shape, her limbs have very little shape, torso is short and she brags about her “spider long legs.” Ugh. I decided to look at the Kibbe Body Type and decided to see what I could make of Markle because she keeps styling herself from models who are much taller than her that affects the look. From what I can gather, if anyone is able to conclude something different I am open to see what other’s think, I believe Markle fits the Flamboyant Gamine body type. The KBT understands that a woman’s structure and the way the flesh rests gives a variety of looks that makes the body appear yin, yang, and a variety of mixes. The Gamine body type stands out towards the middle but they have a child like appearance. One of the common factors is studying if the head appears bigger than a regular woman’s body. Markle does have that a little bit. Another big indicator is the height cannot be taller than 5’6” or at least appear terrible tall, they stand to look on the shorter stature. The flamboyant part indicates that the structures lacks a certain softness like a romantic body type would have. In some cases, if done incorrectly, the Flamboyant Gamine could look like a body in the early development of womanhood, still carrying a certain youth look but hinting of going through puberty.
A better example to have Markle look at I would say in old glam style is ironically Audrey Hepburn. Audrey knew how to sleek certain styles to carry an elegance, something Markle had for a short while but over time seemed to disregard this. While there are differences between the two, besides the face, the one thing I do think gives Audrey some help is she does have a smaller waist frame to work with, Markle doesn’t. Because of that, I do think patterns would assist in helping breaking away that lack of waist as a distraction. There are a few solid colored dresses that looked nice on her, but most of the time the fitting was off. Some pattern can break the focus and balance her body shape a little easier. Another good example to look at imo is ironically Wallis Simpson (disturbing how they look a like in some cases.) Wallis might not have been Queen of the UK, but she was Queen of streamline fashion. Wallis also had a more edgy factor to some of the designs of her look, her jewelry collection is a testament to that. I do think some pieces inspired by the 30’s or 60’s era could fit Markle better.
Once again another long ramble, but this is something that I have been wondering about for a while and have thought of different ways Markle could have presented herself to carry some weight in the fashion area. Keep in mind, she is not an ugly woman, but she is dressing awkward for her body type and River’s channel has confirmed she gets her pieces from fashion magazines and orders them in a bulk package (I face palmed hearing that.) She keeps wearing attire that is fit for runway models, who are slim and tall. Opposite features she has, she needs to learn to embrace that, but then again, we are talking about someone who switches her race. 😬

Yes, Beatrice is blessed with fantastic shape and a model type figure, but Meghan also does or should have an army of stylists that can help her. I think OMG this is awful. Meghan has a different body type and she should switch designers and get a stylist. The first really bad choice was her wedding dress. You are right to call her out on her lack of style. Like so many other things about her, she talks a big game.
Wallis was very slender and had the tiniest of waists - the opposite of Markle who has, indeed, copied several of Wallis' looks, unsuccessfully. The white outfit she wore at the Jubilee, a direct copy of Wallis', made her look like a barrel.
Yes! I've studied Kibbe's body types for10 years and agree with you that Meghan looks like a Flamboyant Gamine. But, she's trying to wear clothes that would work for a Soft Classic or Dramatic woman. She's also clearly a Winter and needs striking colors and high contrast to look her best. She looks downright frumpy in that full-length taupe gown. She could have bought a house for a person in need with what she spent on that dress! Just unbelievable to spend THAT much money on a dress without even bothering to get the color and cut that would be right for her.

Meghan really does have such a perplexing sense of style. It’s like she’s attempting to mimic a minimalistic capsule wardrobe for a working profesional. However, she spends so much money, and shops entire outfits, never to rewear them. How many neutral colored wrinkly long slacks does a woman need??? So much effort to look plain and dowdy. It would make more sense if she didn’t go all designer, all the time. Why not just invest and promote fair and ethical clothing brands instead of “appropriating” the look of a smart-conscious working professional?

When Gloria Steinem looked more fashionable than Meghan, it’s a huge fail for Meghan. For Meghan, it’s all about how much the outfit cost. ‘Crisp white shirt’ implies crispness, Meghan is wearing a slouchy, unbuttoned mess.
In her 40’s,despite stylists on the set, she has never learned what looks good on her body type. Tight belts at her waist just accentuate Meghan’s thick waist and blocky body. She has no shape and a different style would look better on her. People can spend much less and look much better than Meghan. I agree about the bright yellow dress she wore, one of the more flattering outfits she wore.

Sandra, your comment about your Grammy reminded me of the job I had when I was 18. I worked for a woman who owned a costume shop, made all the lovely costumes, the hoop skirts and all the fancy dresses from bygone times. She made all her own outfits, too, and one of my co-workers hired her to design her wedding dress. I knew how to sew when I started working for her, but she taught me how to design dresses and how to mix and match pieces from different patterns. I loved working for her! You're lucky to have such a skilled and creative Grammy and very fortunate to have learned from her.

I honestly did not care for the gray halter gown...maybe in another color. I do not like gray dresses or gowns on anyone. That color tends to dull all shades of skin tones. The last dress you showed was my favorite. So classic and elegant....and definitely Grace Kelly! I think of the movie "Rear Window" and her fashions in that show were fabulous. She was pure Grace in anything!

But I never get the chance to do it bc I go from looking at one thing that leads to another thing. That Dior caftan was criminally awful, particularly because of the color, but mostly because it wasn’t cut for a pregnant body. The liner and caftan worked awkwardly against each other and her belly.

Having had some couture pieces, I always had fittings that were tailored to my body. Did couture houses stop doing fittings? And "crisp" white shirts are meant to unwrinkled.

Did you notice how quickly and badly Meghan is aging? There are photos of her comparing her Stella McCartney black cape dress and a blue one she wore a couple of years ago. There you can see the difference very well.

Unfortunately i have a very similar figure to MM which ironically did get a little bit more "hourglass" after having 2 kids but I still can't just wear anything and expect it to look good like it would on Kate. at least having an example of what not to wear is helpful.

I agree with you. Meg needs to get over her Catherine obsession. Catherine is one of those few lucky women who can make anything amazing. even tracksuit bottoms! On the outside Meg is an attractive women, some of her best looks were during her brief time as working royal.
The price tag and the brand are what really matters to Meghan. She never considers the fit to her body or if the length will be too long or too short. Also, Meghan putting Duchess of Sussex on her bag is so self-absorbed it's pathetic and laughable.

If I am not much mistaken after the coat dress and the microphone incident .Dior has banned her from buying their brand because they don’t want her to represent her.She does look awful in most of the clothes she had from them.I think that MM is short between the shoulders and waist,along with the fact she has more of a boyish shape ,rather than curves.It makes it hard to dress especially with waisted clothes.She’s better off with more fitted clothes like the sheath in yellow you showed as it tends to balance her.. She does just like to buy the dearest of clothes.Yet Our beautiful Kate keeps the cost down and often buys her everyday clothes for her and her family from local stores like M&S..Obviously she wears dearer clothes for events ,but they are no way near the cost that MM wears. It really gives the local shops a boost too as the clothes she buys sell out so fast.I think that’s rather lovely.She also wears some of her clothes more than once .I think that’s very commendable too.She is a beautiful lady and looks amazing in just about everything she wears.

Short waisted and small bust, long skinny legs.... she never seems to get things to fit around the middle quite right, it's either puckered, or wrinkled, always looks like she should have had one more fitting and taken the last bit in. The worst dress she wore was that red thing that hung over her boobs, it did actually make her boobs look bigger, but it wasn't very appropriate for a 'Duchess', looked more like she thought she was a moviestart at the Golden Globe awards....

yes, thank you for not putting all European women in the same basket ! only the French has the sense of Elegance and the Italian the sense of style. But more than the outfit, what counts is the attitude, the energy, which does not come from the clothes
It’s odd that a Woman of her age appears to have no sense of what styles suit her body shape. Very few of us are tall & slim…& it’s just a fact that most clothes look best on that shape. Therefore possibly best to start all over again from scratch with solid foundation garmentsAnd some posture lessons and exercises in walking without lolloping the hips! An honest assessment of areas that need help, some tailored shapes that gloss over the short waist and broad shoulders & hemlines that don’t accentuate the lower leg for instance. Some understanding of the subtleties of colour….& really…if she’s going too wear hats…what weights/fabrics work with which outfits. She surely had access to all this when she came into the RF….

While I agree that she needs to get things tailored better and use different undergarments to support and smooth, I don't think her problem is so easily solved. IMO, based on her own comments and behavior, I don't think she sees herself as she actually is. I can't quite remember any specific terminology, but I know that people can have a different self image of themselves that is not reality. For example, people who have eating disorders see themselves as fatter than they are. I used to have light blonde hair when I was younger, but sometimes I'm still surprised that my hair is dark blonde now. Meghan seems to see herself as tall and willowy like supermodels or Catherine, and when she puts on the clothes, she's not seeing what they look like on HER but she remembers what they looked like in the ad or on the runway.
Bravo on your first Video! I look forward to more from you. In my opinion, Megan's style is impersonal. I work in luxury fashion and the number one thing that's always bothered me about the way Megan dresses is that all of her outfits are always wrinkly. I have clients that have worked for her in the past and have been told she doesn't take professional advice and insists on things being done her way, which I believe leads to all of her ill-fitting looks. It's kind of unfortunate, good tailoring is so critical and no matter how much you pay for something if it's tailored poorly it will always look cheap. Beatrice's look in all-black is such perfection, the peek of the contrasting skirt and the soft bow on the neck for a touch of interest is the epitome of relaxed grace.
Be grateful to Meghan for making u guys relevant. Is she spending you guys money? The answer is no. So get a life and go do something productive.

This applies to anyone, I don't care if the outfit is from Walmart/Target, department store or the most expensive store out there, if the clothes don't fit right, it will look like crap on you. A seamstress can make ALL of the difference in the world. At the end of the day, each and every one of us is unique, we come in all shapes and sizes. You can take a beautiful $500 dress that looks gorgeous on the mannequin in your alleged size, and it looks like crap on you. You have to get a seamstress to take that dress and tailor it to fit YOU and accentuate YOUR best features. At the same time you can get a $50 knockoff dress and again get a seamstress to make it work for YOU and you go and wear that outfit as if it were a $500 dress and you will see that it is all in how you carry yourself, your confidence, how clothes fit on you that gives the appearance of "being put together". I personally HATE, loathe, can't stand shopping. It's not my thing. I'm not a fashionista if you will by no stretch of the imagination. I am 5ft tall, petite (yet top heavy), that means that NO blouse size M off the rack will fit, too long on the arms, too loose in the stomach, I am really more of a size Small or 4 but need a little more room up top (just not too much room, otherwise it looks horrible) . The only thing to do is buy a M and take it in. Same with slacks, I'm a small petite (hard to find). Seamstress is the only way for me to have clothes look good on me no matter how much it cost me. What I noticed is that it really didn't matter if it was an expensive brand or no brand, it was all in the tailoring. So I don't pay more than I have to these days and rather save it for the seamstress. At least I know that whatever I wear fits ME and only me. Look at clothes on the rack as a starting point, because unless you were the model used to make the template to create the clothes, there is always something that can be improved on the article of clothing to make it look even better on you. 😉
You are so correct. I also am 5’ and can never find petite slacks or jeans. I am, however, at 90 lbs so I can pretty much wear anything as long as I tailor it. Thanking my stars I can sew. The operative word for Meghan is “ thin “. She simply cannot wear any article made for a thin person. She has no waist so the item would hit at her waist and stay there. At her age she should know her size and style. I believe she does know her way around cheaper clothes, but she thinks she can wear designer clothing without a fitting or alterations.
