  • Komble is an old Georgian cartoon, or an animated short, produced in 1979 (during Soviet Union).
Subtitles and voice editing (for better quality) by me.
Komble is a short moral story about "bullies" and and how the good triumphs in the end. It can also be interpreted as an allegory of the "thief in law" system of the Soviet Union where mafia figures (with underlying support from authorities) would do whatever they wanted (take Komble's cow for example) and get away with it.
    NOTES:
Kombali is neither a staff nor a club, but it is a combination of both used by shepherds in Georgia. "Komble" can be interpreted as either someone who uses Kombali or a name. Chrela, name of Komble's cow, means multi-colored.
    * These are names of ethnic Georgian foods that don't have an exact English match (you can look them up on Google)
** The ending phrase literally means "Justice has eaten bread" which is an old Georgian saying with a meaning similar to "good has triumphed"
Note on Subtitle quality: I apologize but I was unable to make the subtitles more visible without adding a light black, transparent background to the entire bottom 1/5 of the video (something I don't want to do). If anyone would prefer it though, I could upload that version as well, just leave a comment or send me a message.
