The Shade Tree Fix-it Man Yes these things were made to last, there's no damage the the aluminium body at all, it's stood up to the test of time very well. Thanks for watching🙂👍

I've inherited a very old Hayterette and was hoping that this video would show me how to start it. Sadly not. In which direction do I move the handlebar lever to start it from cold? Apart from moving that lever to the correct position is there anything else to do?

Nice job mate......got a good mower there now :)

MalcOfLincoln Yes it's a nice old mower and it seems to start within 2 pulls every time, unfortunately it will probably have to go as I've just got to much stuff, I do have another ones of these which has a more modern engine on it, I do plan to keep that one. Some people turn their noses up at old mowers like this and opt to buy a £100 cheepy from B&Q, they have no idea how well made these are, built to last. Thanks for watching🙂👍

Gregs Mowing Yes they weren't to worried about DB's in the 70s. I like it makes it seem a bigger engine than it is. Thanks for watching🙂👍

    Nice old mowers those are.

retrorestore Yes they were built in the days when things were made to last, if looked after it could still have another 20 years left in it. Even pulling the engine over it feels stronger, surprisingly they do a decent job of a lawn. Thanks for watching🙂👍

What did you do before starting by the air filter? I have one of these from 1976, runs smooth, but requires air filter off and easy start to get it running

I pumped the primer, it had a newer style carb fitted to make it start much quicker👍
