THE END OF FEAR | Erwin McManus - Mosaic

  • What are we so afraid of? In this reflective conversation, Mosaic Lead Pastor Erwin McManus helps us unpack how fear impacts our lives and can paralyze us from stepping into the future we long for.
He encourages us to look at fear differently. What if our fear is not situational but simply a reality we have allowed to rule us from the inside-out? What if the things we are most afraid of are simply the objects we project our innermost fears onto? What if living courageously was a choice?
In Joshua chapter 1, God commanded Joshua and his people to be strong and courageous. This means choosing courage is not simply a suggestion God gives us, but a command. And though many of us have created lives that are tailor-made around our fears, Pastor Erwin proposes that the life God has for us will force us to walk into the center of our fears.
When Jesus died on the cross, he declared to humanity that even death was not something to be feared. When we are aware of how deeply loved we are by God, we experience a boldness that sends us into our deepest fears with a heart full of courage. As we look to the example of Jesus, we are compelled to choose a life filled to the brim with courage and strength.

Wow! "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom". "Whatever you fear has mastery over your life". That part!

I confess that I was fearful of leaving a job that I was not enjoying anymore. I was afraid of losing the comfort and flexibility that I had. I didn't want to step out of what I thought was good for me. Plus the fear of my age, mid 50s. Who would hire someone as old as me? Then I decided to let "Indeed" work for me. Not expecting anything from it. Today, I am working a job I went to school for which is wonderful in so many ways!! I believe if you allow God to work in your behalf as you battle your fears, we win!! We just need to make the first step into courage and the rest will follow.

@Joyce- Your comment could have been mine. I am leaving a company I’ve been with for 27 years, and at51 years of age.
I have enjoyed my time there immensely until the past six months as there seems to be a campaign to push me out of the company.
I cannot be very upset about it because I see God‘s hand in it. He has been telling me for quite some time to leave and begin my own business. The hours in my current role are way too long to allow time to build my business while I am there so God is challenging me to leap. And I’m not a leaper! 😳
My one small step of faith, making plans to leave, has opened up several doors. One will lead to my MS degree which will help me run my business. There is also a position at the University (where I was an Adjunct) that will allow me to have most of my college paid for (this would fulfill an old prayer from 2014) and I will leave with a rather lucrative severance package.
David Jeremiah quoted in one of his sermons, if you don’t move forward with what you know to do everything you don’t know what paralyze you, but if you do move forward with what you know to do all the next steps will become clear.
I have been clinging to that as I step out on faith for my next venture!

@@MindOfARecruiter I’m in awe on how God works! Its all about trusting the Master Planner. Why do we even doubt Him? So glad you are now following your dream and beginning the life that God has meant just for you!!!

"When is everything going to end?" I know I was lead here by the Spirit because my son just asked me this question over the weekend. I said "I don't know son but in the meantime you have plenty to be focused on, like being good!" Thank you so much for the message and affirmation.
