- ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst joins the Dan Patrick Show and breaks down the possibilities for the next Los Angeles Lakers head coach, including JJ Redick, as well as how much influence LeBron James will have on the coaching hire
I don't understand what JJ calling the NBA finals has to do with Him getting the Lakers job. I don't see why he couldn't get the job and just keep calling the final games.
Because of tampering, he can't talk about other players if he's a coach.

Oh Lakers can hire him at any time. The Warriors hired Mark Jackson in 2011 on June 6th while the NBA Finals were still going on (The NBA FInals ended on June 12 just an FYI) but he couldn't officially start his HC duties until he finished covering the NBA Finals. It's going to be the same with JJ. Lakers will have their scouting department (which includes Jesse Buss, great scout) and the South Bay Lakers (which Jeanie and Jesse's brother Joey runs) will help with draft workouts, interviews, etc.

Disagree. JJ is smart, and probably the one coach that can get on players and call them out without feeling scared

Nobody's calling the Lakers for the coaching vacancy. J.J wants the challenge, current experienced coaches will only take the job for the money, knowing they will get fired. J.J. has a burning desire to do this and, he will do a great job 😀👍🏀

Yeah Windy who has made his career following Lebron since high school… he totally doesn’t have to maintain a relationship with Lebron… always question how your getting your information. Otherwise Epstein is just a business man and Boeing’s employees just seem to get sick.

Even with David Blatt, Raja Bell went to Lebron and made some comments about how Blatt was in danger of losing his job and LeBron said "alright I'll make sure the locker room doesn't turn on him" and they went to the Finals even through that.. Bron has never been about people getting fired

Byron Scott suggested it best. LeBron, as much as I appreciate him as a player, wants to be able to blame somebody else when things don’t go well. if he actually wanted to elevate his kingdom, if you will, he should say yes I am anointing this coach, they win the finals, and then he becomes the GOAT. But he won’t do that because he wants the insurance
