Haha yep, they are very efficient at missing the pointy end of the hook and swimming away with your bait lol. Probably because of their tiny little mouths!
That area around the Murray is soo cool. It’s not what I would call beautiful, in the traditional sense, but it really is like another world, such a rugged landscape. Cool vid, thanks for sharing,
Nice catches Rohan!! I am also surprised you did not catch any Carp after switching to corn. Those Silvers are pretty. It was really cool you saw a subscriber out there! That has happened to me once and it was a euphoric experience. Take care man!!
Thanks mate! It seems to be happening to me more and more lately, I think I was recognized 4 times last week lol. I thought I would have caught a carp or 2 as well
Hey mate used to live in Balranald on the Murrumbidgee river as a young fella. The river scenery is always spectacular I love that part of the country. You and Robbies fishing should do more videos as you guys are down to earth and funny buggers. Keep up the good work.
That's awesome mate, I've never been to the Murrumbidgee, I'll have to fix that lol. I grew up on the Murray so it always feels like home to me there. Robbie and I should be doing some fishing together very soon after cod season opens, stay tuned! Thanks heaps for watching and commenting Andrew.
Ah The Mighty Murray Cod I never did catch those Murrumbidgee or the Murray River will be back one day soon. I miss the Redfin and trout the most and the Murray Cod which eluded me. Any fish is better than no fish though. Can’t wait for that video it’ll be a 🤣🤣 one
Well done man those feisty little bait stealers you would think they would get hooked every time but no somehow they manage to get the bait without getting hooked
yeah silvers are masters of pinching bait! But it is a good sign there is plenty of them around, rumor has it they love carp eggs. Very spiky too and they hurt! Gill rakes on the large ones are super sharp too! Also they are really not perch but grunters and they do grunt. Love your work we shall catch up soon I have January off so plenty of fishing to be done! Cheers
Haha yeah I copped a few spikings from them that day, I find the small ones get me more than the big ones because they are more in my hand. Thanks Les!
Hey Rowan. Went there a few days ago and got lots of bites. I guess the sinker and the hooks were too big. Was forced out of there by hoons parked nearby throwing Mcchuckers rubbish out the windows. Will deffo be going back with lighter gear.
Downsizing definitely helped me catch a few fish. I was expecting to get a couple of tiny carp, I was wrapped with the silvers. I don't understand why people drive out to a beautiful spot on the river to eat their lunch, and then ruin it by littering! Makes me angry lol
Sorry for the late watch this week mate..this kinda fishing is always so much fun and that was awesome when the kids said they watch your videos. Awesome as always mate
@@RKJFishing hahaha it was nice to see the silver perch as well what size hooks are you using mate I've got a few things I've been putting together to send you soon and I've got some micro hooks in there for you as well.
@@asgardianadventures132 I honestly couldn't tell you the size of the hooks, whenever I buy stuff it gets thrown in my tackle trays with no information LOL. I can measure one for you if you would like? I'd love to receive a package from the UK I've never had one from that side of the world before! One of these days me and you are going to be fishing side by side my friend, and I can't wait!
G'day mate. Nice little session there, 👍 I can't thankyou enough for what you did for my nephew. He was so excited, he rang me this morning before school!!! You're a bloody legend brother . ✌👍👊🇦🇺🤠🍻
Man the Murray is such a peculiar river to fish. The current is a pain and the boats make it even worse, and those pesky little perch go round steal bait left and right! Great job RKJ murray aint easy!
It's just starting to turn nice again now, we had a couple of weeks of shocking winds and an arctic blast which wasn't nice considering how close we are to summer lol. I always enjoy fishing, catching is just a bonus hehe
I reckon SP work in teams - one pulls on the line and the others share out the worms that fall off when you strike! Pretty little fish though and in really good condition bodes well for the future! Fans all over the place too!
Thanks heaps Frank. I used to think corn was only good for carp, but now I've caught murray cod, trout cod, and silver perch on it as well! I've never tried but I think it also works for trout
Hmmm, they look a little similar to our white perch, but not exactly the same. Good idea downsizing the hooks. I've been known to do that too when getting robbed constantly.😂👍💯
@@RKJFishing Not if you use the right bait. Little pieces of cut bait works great and it's hard to get off the hook because the skin's tough. Just make sure you stick the hook through the skin and you're good. I use tiny pieces like the size of a pinky fingernail. I don't know if your silver perch will eat cut fish or not.
I didn't feel much like getting my feet wet that day lol. The water is about 1 inch deep along the whole sandbar so I did the best I could for them, at least they swam away nice and healthy
@@RKJFishing @RKJ Fishing We've been a keen follower of your videos for a while now. We got into fishing worms because we love to fish. Go to the contact page on our website, shoot us your details and we'll send you up a couple of tubs of our worms to try out, cheers.
I reckon if I stuck with the 2 rods I would have lost all the worms twice as fast, and caught no fish lol. Silver perch certainly are a pretty fish, they are so shiny!
Hi mate yeah that was the paddlesteamers going off, the noisy buggers lol. Definitely a tourist spot and a popular swimming hole once it heats up. Thanks Mick!
LOL they sure are! They are the craftiest bait stealing fish I've ever tangled with. I can usually pick it when there's a silver around based on the type of bites I'm getting hahaha
Those Silver are crafty everytime I watch you guys fishing for them they make you work for it
Haha yep, they are very efficient at missing the pointy end of the hook and swimming away with your bait lol. Probably because of their tiny little mouths!

I grew up on the Murray so it just feels like home to me lol. It really is a rugged forest compared to more temperate areas
Love that sand bank. Spent many hours swimming and skiing there.🍻🍻👍👍
Haha me too Julian - well the swimming part anyway, I haven't done much skiing in my time!
Gotta love a little bit of a JetSki fan photo bomb in your vlog. Awesome

Love view here beautiful river, landscape and fishing oh I love Aussies
Thanks my friend
That's a cool looking place. Kid on the Kayak was awesome!!
It's very nice there, although it does get quite busy with tourists. Haha yeah that kid made my day lol
always at the edge of the sand bar silver's go nuts
So it would seem! Here I was thinking I'd get a carp lol
LOL mate just started watching and I'm cracking up, two rods at once is awesome, not boring at all 🤣
Lol yeah they kept me busy mate!
Well done man those feisty little bait stealers you would think they would get hooked every time but no somehow they manage to get the bait without getting hooked

You're glad you caught Silver Perch! I am also happy!
I'm always glad to catch silver perch, they are a beautiful native fish that is protected due to few numbers.
Little silvers right in town 👌.
Great video mate.
Thanks Lee!

Hey mate don't apologize, life is always more important than videos! It definitely was fun, even if it did cost me about 40 worms hahaha

Great video really enjoyed the different style of fishing
Thanks Kerion I appreciate that mate!
Great fun 😊 looks so nice there.
It certainly was fun, definitely worth the 40 worms I invested haha
@@RKJFishing haha, keep the great videos coming 😊
Those fish are really good at stealing worms!! Good to see you got a few!
Haha yeah they sure are, I lost about 40 worms that day lol
Man the Murray is such a peculiar river to fish. The current is a pain and the boats make it even worse, and those pesky little perch go round steal bait left and right! Great job RKJ murray aint easy!
Haha I know right! I always struggle in the Murray mostly because of the very strong current. Thanks mate!
Hi mate, I wanted to know if it is a strong current up in Echuca/moama
Hi buddy, yes there is a very strong current there, even 3 meters out my bait was being moved along the bottom lol
RKJ Fishing 👍
Great video mate, and a fan on the jet ski LOL take care brother ATB Jim
Haha thanks Jim. That kid made my day I reckon hahaha
Cool matie they can be tricky buggers👍
Thanks heaps mate, they sure can! Especially when you don't know they are around, they steal SO much bait LOL
Nice action day the Silver perch 🐟
The important thing is the action of the fish and not the size.🙂👍
Thanks mate. I agree with you 100%, I enjoy catching small fish just as much as big fish.
@@RKJFishing So do I.
I have friends that don't understand this🤔

Nice place and fish mate, what dosent go for corn? Well done mate👍

LOL I like your theory Frank, you're probably right mate! Definitely a great sign for the future of the river, natives making a comeback!
great video 👍
corn seems to be a good all rounder bait
cheers
Thanks heaps Frank. I used to think corn was only good for carp, but now I've caught murray cod, trout cod, and silver perch on it as well! I've never tried but I think it also works for trout
at least if you dont catch any fish you can eat the bait lol
I often eat the bait when I'm using cheese to fish for cod LOL
Hmmm, they look a little similar to our white perch, but not exactly the same. Good idea downsizing the hooks. I've been known to do that too when getting robbed constantly.😂👍💯
I just looked up white perch, they actually do look quite similar don't they! Are white perch good at stealing bait as well? lol

Another great video again mate
Thanks so much James
real pretty fish to bad they are so fast great job big smiles
Thanks so much Phoebe, they sure are cunning little bait grabbers haha. Somehow they always miss the pointy end of the hook lol
Nice day for it 👍
Absolutely mate, best time of the year if you ask me. In a few weeks it will be too hot to go fishing during the day though lol
RKJ Fishing nightmare, I’ve seen all these fires north of you guys already. I guess that’s going to get worse then 😢
@@BlackCountryPiker Tomorrow is 42c with 40km winds here. Everyone is very worried. I'm in a low threat area but I am concerned for some people

Wow congrats, what a fish!
You made them work for their freedom mate ;) lol

RKJ Fishing a hard earned freedom is better than none.
They will appreciate it more this way 👍🏼😂
You know it’s a good day when you get so many bites you need to ditch a rod! 😎👍
haha absolutely! I think if I kept using both rods I would have lost all my worms twice as fast, and not caught any fish LOL
Great video, worms rule 👍
Thanks mate! Haha yeah they sure do! I was actually looking at your website this morning, I need to stock up my worm farm lol

Good video mate
Thanks JayCod
That’s what happened to me when I was fishing for catfish. They overwhelmed me on two rods. I stove one rod. Beautiful perch🙂

You ever thought about a small boat?
I'm always thinking about a boat Tim. Affording one is a different story though LOL
The one that got away.
Yep many got away that day, including about 40 of my worms lol
Catch enough of those bait stealers & you manage a decent fish fry!!
Very true, although that particular species is protected so we aren't allowed to keep em. Thanks Wes
Ripper vid
Thanks heaps Brian
I watch your youtube channel to :p nice little perch even if they do steal bait :p
haha yeah but all the cool kids yell it from a jetski LOL. They are beautiful little fish for sure.
Not too bad of a job
Thanks heaps mate
