I once saw a photo of Andrew's bed with all the cuddly toys. I remembered thinking at the time what's a grown man doing with cuddly toys on his bed and so many? I can't say for this case specifically, since it never went through as a criminal case, the investigation and all that it entails. But speaking generally, do you really think victims of sex crimes are only those that are chained? You are forgetting: there is a flight, fight and freeze response (the latter often gets missed). Victims for example of DV may feel like they need to stay in abusive relationships out of fear - so no physical chain but an emotional one.. Also about their age, it is known that the brain isn't fully formed until 23ish. Everyone is different, some may have more insecurities (maybe because of the life they lived and people around them), a predator knows to look for vulnerable people and knows how to exploit that vulnerability. Either the defendant or the accuser cant afford it OR its just cheaper to settle than go through years of lawyers pay checks. But speaking generally, do you really think victims of sex crimes are only those that are chained? You are forgetting: there is a flight, fight and freeze response (the latter often gets missed).
Victims for example of DV may feel like they need to stay in abusive relationships out of fear - so no physical chain but an emotional one.. Also about their age, it is known that the brain isn't fully formed until 23ish. Everyone is different, some may have more insecurities (maybe because of the life they lived and people around them), a predator knows to look for vulnerable people and knows how to exploit that vulnerability.
