I am trying to get out of the TH-cam impressions jail by flooding the zone. I talked about censorship in a previous video and was foolish enough to answer one of their creator surveys and they quit showing my thumbnails and sending video notifications. My impressions dropped by 95% after that video and people have told me they haven't been getting my video notifications. I thought it was 2024 but it seems more like 1984.
Thanks. I used the powder yesterday at the farm and took the Frederic Dunn approach. I just plunged the Instavap directly into the OA. I am a huge fan of the tablets.
The EPA paper for the product says 2 grams per deep box it doesn't differentiate between 8 frame or 10 frame so you could use 4 grams for those double deeps. Technically folks have used more in a research setting and had good results. Having 8 frame equipment we kinda get to float in that gray area and get a more effective dose legally with 4 grams since we have about 4 frames less than 10 frame hives have. Good video! I just finished our 3rd round of OA this week and saw a fair amount of dead Varroa. Thanks for sharing!
Vaporization while cap brood is present has been shown to be quite ineffective since the majority of varroa is under the cappings of the brood. Effective OA vaporization occurs when the hive does not have capped brood. This was presented by Bob Binnie and KAMON Reynolds at a conference a few weeks ago….
@@BugFarmerBeesyes they spoke to that type of weekly treatment and it was seen to have very limited efficacy…. It has a very short duration of a mite kill and they get right back into the cells…. Hence why they have started using the extended release OA sponges now available called Varroxsan…. Which has its short comings too…. They over stressed OA vaporization is truly only effective during low capped brood time or times of no capped brood….
I have the same vaporizer and I agree, a game changer. It makes it so easy and fast. When drilling holes in the rear I drill through the bottom board since I may do a few box reversals and use a golf tee in the hole after I am done. Using powder and 4 g per deep the temp drops to 395 to 405 and takes a little longer. Wish I had a 9 amp hour battery but my two 5 amp hour still gets it done. Have a good week.
Interesting. And convenient. Question. How are you plugging those holes you are making in the hives? Ii would like to do that> And about the OAV, I love the tabs, yet are you aware that they new recommended dosage is 3-4 grams per deep box? they are finding that 1-2 grams are not doing a great job. And as far as the machines, do you know of any that work well that are under $300? Great video
You heard correctly. Actually I should have used 3 because I am running a deep/medium combo on most of the hives. The reason I used two is because all of the double stacked hives are 8 fram and not 10 so I am confident a 2 gram dose was enough.
Love it, thanks
I appreciate you stopping in to have a look.
I bought my Lorobees last year and it has been the best thing I’ve bought yet!!
Excellent. I am happy to have it. Money well spent.
Great video BF. Hit them 4 more times
Another round tomorrow :-)
Seems to be working pretty well.
Thanks for spoiling us with two videos this week.

@@BugFarmerBees I am not getting a lot of notifications, which is why I was slow with commenting on your video posted yesterday.
Great video, great thing about those battery powered OA machines is you can do a bunch of hives on one battery.
And it will let me treat a remote bee yard where there is no electricity.
Been told from a suppler that the FDA just approved MIKe parlmer strips
Mike has done his homework for sure.
Varroxsan extended release OA is now available for use…. Just received mine today….
Dont u mean Randy.
The EPA is who approves treatments.
@@framcesmooreyou are correct…. Randy Oliver…. seems many are not keeping up with the studies, researchers, dosing and efficacy of treatments
The powder has a 2 gram measuring spoon included. 1/2 teaspoon OA is 2 grams.

@@BugFarmerBees I use a golf tee to plug those holes.

Thanks for the insight Brian. Appreciated.

agreed but that is why when we treat this time of year we treat every week for four weeks so we can treat all staged of the brood cycle.

Ha I have been doing some this week as well just to keep them knocked back I used 4 per box.
I gave the home bee yard a 2nd treatment yesterday and the farm the first.

I bought the big batteries because I have 29 hives at the other bee yard and I wanted t make sure I have the juice to get it done.

I plug the holes with 1/4" dowel cut into 1" sections. I have heard of other people using golf tees.
If those tablets are 1 gram you should have put 4 in at a time, or did i hear it wrong?

@@BugFarmerBees ahh I gotcha
OA is the Way!🐝
It's here :-)
Hi i dont think you push the plugger on the big hive at 5:12
No nee to push the plunger with the tablets. If I were using the powder I would have to use the plunger.
Where did you get your vaporizer from?
I bought it from Lorobees. Here is the link: lorobbees.com/products/instantvap-18v
@@BugFarmerBees thank you
Hat why don't you treat the hives from the front ? Make a adaptor to fit at the entrance. So you don't have to drill holes in the hives.
If I didn't have the guardian entrances on the hives I would have gone through the front.
never mind sorry youre just drop them in
