“ DZIEKUJĄ ALE JA NIE LUBI TAŃCZYĆ MAZUR!” Freely translated this is,

“Thank you for asking me to dance but I do not like to dance the Mazur.”
Can you imagine that the young woman below did not want to join in the vivacious Mazur Dance? Well, it is a movie! And her refusal is part of the story line of the movie.

The movie in question was the Polish film, ZNACHOR which premiered in 1937. What a great surprise are the Social Ballroom scenes of the Mazur Dance in this film! It is a perfect encapsulation of the upper-middle class Dance Form with decided elements of the Mazurek variant. (Somehow, I missed this in my earlier research.) Of equal importance is the communal -conviviality, the social atmosphere, of the participants! It is such a joy! You want to be there!
