Taking this Clio from my work from my dealership for a test drive, this car was actually for sale and it drives like new, first time ever for me driving this legendary French car.

Had this as my first car. Absolutely loved it, drives smoothly and was very reliable. Had really comfortable seats as well, The 1.4 version is quite nippy. Would recommended as a first car

Back to 2002.....my first new car......i had bought a new one, 1.2 16v 3 doors.
Great handling with very good comfort.
Also great value for money.
After 69.000 Km, i sold it at 2009.
No problem with motor, electrical, etc....!!!
This 1.2 16v engine likes to rev high...lovely engine. And reliable. There is a reason why it was still produced till 2014. Just keep in mind that this car has an engine that never fails.. Just never but a fuel pump and electronic throttle that fails constantly...
its a small engine and make high rev?? i felt like this is really slow car......
@@HS-sr9ww Ehh depends, i own one. Its not the quickest at overtaking i will admit, but the damn thing refuses to take a upshift until your past 3000rpm, which is also were you finally get some acceleration, which for me, makes it a fun car to drive.

shit engine, mines cam fell off and broke the piston
This is my first car(I still have it) I got it from my Grandmother she had only been driving around 30.000 kilometers in it(She got it from new) and i remember she allways said:'' That it was 1,2 and that is enough, we dont need more''. I love that car it drives well.
I had a the same car as my first, mk2 ph2 Clio 1.2 16v, great car. They're reliable, not actually that slow (although obviously not quick) and good on fuel. Great little cars. I even have a Clio 182 now and it really shows how good the chassis is in these little cheap cars.
I have the same Clio, in silver color and black-blue interior. Love it! I was watching this video waaaay before I bought it and I really fell in love with Clio.
Love my MK2 Clio Campus. 2006 model, and she's still going strong at 223,000 Kms although the interior is completely tatty now. Brilliant, cheap cars

This was my first car. Very reliable, simply a great car for beginners. (Now I've sold it and bought a Renault Clio V.)
Have it since 2013... I really like it.
I still have one. It's my first car and I own it for like two and a half years now. Mine is 1.2 8V, though. It's not a powerhouse by any means, but it does the job very good. Fuel consumption is very low, and parts for it are very cheap. It's definitely a good and cheap starter car even today.

Pour en avoir eu une, ce moteur c’était pas un foudre de guerre, mais alors qu’est ce que c’était costaud et l’entretien ça coûtait quasi rien dessus. C’est une voiture qui m’as laissé de bons souvenirs

I had the MY2001 1.2 75 hp Privilege and now I've a MY2004 1.6 107 hp Initiale. The 1.2 consumes a lot if you crush it, the 1.6 was a nice discovery because driving normal consumes like a 1.2 and while having fun it doesn't consume much more than '' pulled '' the 1.2 ;)
Ah le bon vieux voyant airbag des renault du début 2000. J'ai eu le même aujourd'hui sur ma clio 2 1.4 16v, il m'a suffit de renfoncer un peu le connecteur sous le siège passager pour résoudre le problème.
Je confirme pour le voyant de l'air bag. Même chose sur ma clio expression 1.2 16V de 2002, et je l'ai fait disparaître de la même manière.
Moi aussi j'ai eu se fameux voyant service airbag sur ma renault megane 2 pack authentique 1.5 dci 80 de 2005,en ayant fait de même que vous plus de voyant d'airbag.
Je ne l'ai jamais eu de problème d'airbag sur ma Laguna 2.

Que lastima que en Argentina no tuvimos ese tablero (o salpicadero como dicen en España). Aqui siguieron con el mismo diseño de la Fase 1 desde el 2000 hasta que se dejó de fabricar en 2015 con poquitos cambios.

J'attendais depuis longtemps une revue comme celle la cependant c'est un peu dommage de passer les rapports aussi bas dans les tours ça encrasse le moteur🤔

J’ai pensé la même chose ! Mais sinon oui une bonne revue
T'encrasseras jamais un essence atmo. Tout ce que tu risques en passant les vitesses aussi bas, c'est de surconsommer par manque de couple, et encore, si t'es sur route plate et bien dégagée, tu peux te permettre le luxe de rouler à très bas régime sans problème.
Ce moteur est très souple.

Yes the car is very reliable but in terms of confort the mk3 clio and mk2 renault megane are thousand times better and more spacious

I tried one the other day and thoght the handling was sluggish... is this to expect of a 20yo power steering? Thought it would more snappy? Any epxeriences with the handling of this car?
I see that this copy also has this defect .In this car the model Clio 2 is very popular error airbag. From 2020 in the polish country while car review the services don't allow the car to continue driving, they order to fix this defect. The services will afraid the reaction of the police, who during the inspection may take the registration card. Many cars Clio 2 drive on the Polish with this fault.

What's better as a cheap renault bargain - this or the same vintage Twingo?
My sister had both and I can say this hands down. Much more interior space,better safety ratings and on the whole the better car for the price.
Old renaults were reliable! Today's renault clios are not!! All the people i know who have renaults regretted buying them......A lot of problems guys...I wanted to buy a renault clio because they look beautiful but no..

You can easily remove the air bag indicator light by simply tightening the connectors under the passenger's seat. Nice video.
Which connectors?
@@ralitsa17 they are located under the passenger's seat, and if you analyze with scanner, the result will refer to these connectors. So by disconnecting and reconnecting, the air bag light indicator will disappear. You can even just adjust cables and tighten connectors. It worked with my 2002 Clio 1.2 16V. Good luck
@@hichambenaissa3163 will that fix the actual fault of the airbags? I don't want it to just remove the airbags warning light but rather know of the airbags actually still works in the case of an accident

The car is good for a starter but if you want a confortable car the megane is thousand times better
But for the city clio is good
I learned to drive in a later MK2 Campus Sport although im not keen on Renault's it wasnt a bad little car to drive
60 km/h in 5th gear? That poor little engine....
My dad's 2001 Honda HRV has the same short gear setup, and it's a 1.6 petrol with AWD. Needless to say, if you want to go outside the city your wallet better get ready, because the constant 3000rpm at just 100km/h in 5th gear on the motorway hurt it as bad as it hurt my soul. It's why I prefer diesel or at least a 6th gear. But I think it's more acceptable in this case since it's only a 1.2.
I have the 8v version with roughly 15hp less (58hp) and without this gearing the engine would struggle a lot. Anyway, even though it's loud at high speeds, it doesn't take that much fuel: what kills this engine is acceleration. If you drive at constant speeds for a long time it'll consume nothing.
Mine can go 150 km/h in 5-th gear
the engine is 1,2. too it depends the driver, I have a clio 1.2. I do gear in 2,5 to 3,5 rpm, in 5th gear I go in 80 or 100km. really the engine is a litlle poor but depend the rpm. excuse me my English

Benim anlamadığım şey o ekranda hızlı şekilde yanıp sönen ışık ne anlama geliyor.Akü normaldir. Sorumu anladığım dilde yazmaya çalıştım. Lütfen acil şekilde cevaplarsanız çok sevinirim kolay gelsin.
Renault'nuzda bir arıza olabilir, bir Clio'da nadiren olur. Bunun için bir tamirciye gitmen gerektiğini düşünüyorum.

I can spot the common problem on your car too... Service and airbag alarm ON.. Never found a solution. Just got used to it.some days it goes off but randomly returns...
There's an electrical connection for airbag under passenger seat. Clean it and spray some fluid for electrical connectors. In 99% of cases that solves problem.

I added s full body kit to mine, 17inch black alloys , performance exhaust and Racoro Sports seats. This was a while ago though and I no longer own the car. I recently met tbe guy who owns it now and car still looks in really good condition

Sick 3000 rpm's already at 100 km/h. My cruiser (Mercedes E200 d touring from 2013 with 136 ps), goes 200 km/h at 3000 rpm..
