  • Jeremiah Ward was a Hugo, Colorado hometown man who loved to ride bucking horses. After he passed away due to a tragic accident the community organized an annual memorial bronc riding event in honor of his life passion. #BroncRiding #SaddleBroncs #Rodeo
    Wade Kramer of the Gypsy Joe Rodeo Company provided the bucking horses for this event and the Colorado Championship Ranch Rodeo being held on the same weekend. This event was presented on Saturday afternoon.

    I visited with Wade Kramer the morning of this event because all the broncs had busted out of their large pen and we had to get them rounded up before they wound up on the highway close by. Wade told me this was going to be a wild show because all the rides would be on young rookie broncs who had not figured out the best way to get rid of riders yet. Let me know if you would like me to cover this event next year!

      One reason why I enjoy having the opportunity to document western equine sports! The next plan is to spend more time documenting the riders and their mounts. I hope you will stay tuned for that and pass along some tips as to who and where they are along with contact info you can provide on my website Contact Us tab. My right rotator cuff is damaged so I can Identify with you a bit.

      I agree! I believe the #WRCA is doing a good thing to endorse Junior Ranch Rodeos these days. I documented st least four last year and may wind up with at least that many this year despite the lockdowns. They included steer riding and mini-broncs or donkeys. We have a good turnout for mutton busters in my region any time it is on the schedule so I have high hopes for the youngsters keeping the traditions alive.

    I've never seen so many good looking bucking horses losing their footing like that, and even falling. Was there something about the footing in that arena? Or just their experience level? Those guys sure did great!

    • @DustyReinsStories
      @DustyReinsStories  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      All the horses were bred by the livestock contractor. He told me this was their first rodeo. So they haven't learned how to keep their feet under them yet. And they were not used to that much weight flopping around on their back. Note how the riderless memorial horse at the end jumped much higher and maintained control better. And the buckaroos did a good job of hanging on!

    • @DustyReinsStories
      @DustyReinsStories  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same sport, just different rules, and equipment. Ranch bronc riding rules require a ranch saddle with the roping horn. Pro riding rules allow the use of a saddle with no horn for saddle broncs, and bareback riders use what is called a rigging cinched on the horse that has a handle to hang on to.

      That can happen when a rider inserts his fingers into the weave of the rope for better grip. Note that he was trying to release but his fingers were still in the rope. Note that Dale Brisby does the same thing. I have never done it because I don't want any of my fingers pulled off!

    • @zachaddingtonZ2A
