It's easy to understand mechs like the Osiris when you read and hear that the devs spend alot of time playing COD and other FPS "run and gun" type shooters. this game used to be about more than that but not in a long time.
your game play, game breakdown, mech recommendations, mech breakdowns and game logic are second to none. you're not afraid to speak honestly and candidly about what is wrong with the game and who's to blame and you give credit when it's due.
honestly, not a better player to learn from and you're a credit to the community.

The Osiris is a light (so it's still rather fragile) though, and before this year's buff it was probably considered a pretty bad one at that. The buffs maaaaybe gave it too much small laser quirks, but other than that it's not too different from VPR-F or VPR-C except smaller, and to perform well on it you do need to actually be a good player, unlike your average damage farming assault with UAC spam.
Also, just turn off your arm lock if you can't hit a flying Osiris, it's not the Osiris fault that most people have been trained like dogs/only knows to follow netbuilds that leans on using torso mounted weapons heavily to maximize firepower by dropping arm armor or that they can't get over the skill floor hurdle of playing with arm lock off+aiming a target solely using the lock-on red square UI when the cockpit's model obscures the target.

@@stranger7131 People really overstate how much of a "good player" you have to be for lights. But it's really no less true for assaults. Sure, just by virtue of having a ton of guns the average (aka terrible) player does some damage but I see what the scoreboards look like. Entire lances of assaults only doing 200-300 damage each. Sure, we often see lights doing ZERO damage or 50-100 damage and that makes people think lights take so much more skill to play. But nothing under 70 tons should be doing less than 600 damage a game. Really, GOOD players should be doing even more because again, the average player in the average game is barely cracking 400 a lot of the time... in assaults.
Now if the average player was actually half decent and pulled their weight then there wouldn't be enough damage for a couple people to do over 800 damage a game so easily because it would be spread around, there's only a finite amount of armor and structure damage to be done between 12 people. 500-600 damage games would actually be solid in that case. But seriously its the bare minimum you should be doing in heavies and assaults with the type of playerbase MWO has if you're actually any good. I do not see that nearly often enough to believe assaults are any easier to play than lights.

@@stranger7131 uh-huh, I don''t play with arm lock on. if a gimped mobility assault being circle strafed by a 150 kph light with more dpm is able to hit what he sees on the screen, more often than not that's not where the hitboxes are and did I mention hit registration? if I wanted to run around a map and engage 1v1 at hyper speed I'd play a different game. different mechs have different roles which fit into a tactical and strategic gameplay, going to the middle of the map and running around shooting negates this.

@@williampounds5191 Well why are you using raw damage numbers instead of hp percentages then? 300 damage against an assault and 300 damage against lights are different things, it's a bad metric for that reason. When put into percentages it's probably the difference between "taking out half of a mech's durability" and "taking out an entire mech" and for lights, munching on assaults is probably one of their actually good matchups hence why they have higher raw damage metrics.

What a mouthful for what can just be summarized as: "Bring /*THREE*\ 4BLC Chargers (Yes, the CGR-3K can alpha 4BLC with HSL+2 now while moving at 70kph, you can also just run 4LPL or something I guess) or two 6ERLL Stalker/Battlemaster and you'll still have 25 (Charger deck) or 95 (ERLL deck) free tonnage on the drop deck"
For the 25t on the Charger deck you could slot in an SRM stealth Commando (got buffed this year by the way) for generator bombing, or a Flea.
As for the 95t, well you can stick in two mediums or a heavy+light of your choice, or even a third assault (Bullshark).
Also yeah, the Bullshark is stupid, it's literally the Annihilator level of firepower except with actual engine range, agility, AND more armor quirks. With only main downside being arguably worse hitbox.

I tell you what, for sure the 4 Binary is fun but the 4LPL have the benefit of being cool, fast, and if you're hitting them from 375-400 mtrs 50% of the time they don't notice because the sonic and visual cues from the LPL are so negligible.

He went into much more detail then your comment, instead of just saying bring this mech, he explained the process for how he chooses mechs, and went into much more detail with it.
I imagine it would be way more beneficial for a new player and probably a lot of longer time players as well.

Excellent video, packed with useful information and ways of thinking about faction play to adjust your decks, and he calls out various BS. Best MWO vid I've watched in the last month. Shout out @ 23:20 I really had no idea about the bugged JJ animation hit effects.

Oh, so there's a little more to this mode than solo dropping quick play and following every one to the middle of the map to get shot?

I've only started recently, didn't try out all playstyles yet, did not get basic layout of the most maps yet, don't know most mechs beyond basics...
"oh hey the faction play event, I want to play it to get extra MC"
...I have no idea how to adapt mechs for maps, esp since I dont know the maps to begin with. So, I guess I will try comprehending the guide as much as I can? Some side things you mention (like importance of decel for peaking) are useful even outside the FP context.

You nailed it. In this event you see often the usual QP light jockey, trying to start first wave with his light... In Attack. They are not only handicaping their first wave not sharing armor, but compromising further waves, where speed will be the key. To not speak about the nasty turrets, often forgotten, and the stubborn fact that , in general, fp players can take aim...
One of the most tricky goals for me in FP is learn when play agressive or not. I drop solo in QP, so i can´t rely that much in the support of my team. Yes, FP players are quite few and almost all know each other... But specially if you drop with units, they tend to do their thing and consider you expendable. Not strange.
Harsh, but really fun. And the hard school.
A pity that FP don´t have more love from PGI. Is the funniest and deepest part of the game. Maybe this is the problem. Too much complicated for the casuals, and can´t blame them...
