I just kept holding R1 shooting, watching particles,bullet shells,explosions,smoke and everything flying all over the place. And all that gun porn with weapon models. For a PS2 game definitely too short. But the design and gameplay for a 2006 game packs immense punch. PS I can imagine DSP playing this game. He would be like "How was I supposed to know enemies are gonna get harder? How the fuck can RPG have blast radius? What the fuck are secondary objectives,the game must be bugged..."
Just love the overall feel of the asylum. Not only is it really large and abandoned, but the eerie vibe that it gives and those random creeking noises, bottles rolling on the floor and whatnot really gave it a truly immersive atmosphere
You know I bought this game used over a year ago and played it a few times then life go in the way. The past week I've been playing it during most of my free time, mostly because it's my last game I haven't completed and yeah I agree it's one of my favorite FPS games I've played. Although being a little behind times I haven't really played any of the new COD and others. I really only play VGs when I don't have much to do and for this amount of play time I don't see buying a PS4 or even the 3 worth it. How does this game stack up against the newer FPSs for 3 and 4? These graphics are really good for a ps2 VG. Plus lots of shooting which I'm a fan of. Lol
30spooln lots of guys will tell you Black was ahead of its time, i finished the game many times, i still enjoy playing Black every once in awhile, way much better 1st prsn shooter experience than many of today's shooters . enjoy it.
Ramon piel IMO Counter-Strike is the best MP shooter of all time, and Half-Life has the best story mode in any FPS ever. However when talking console shooters, no game has captivated me as much as Black =) It was ridiculously hard too. I remember I completed the game at all 4 difficulties. If I recall correctly you unlocked an OP grenade launcher , after completing hard, ironically making 'Black Ops' the easier than 'hard' to complete
Iorveth i believe black ops mode was like a reward given to players after going through hell finishing the game in hard mode. when i feel like playing black i prefer to use the MP5 & AK47, its much more challenging .

I consider this and Killzone 2 to be landmarks in the FPS genre in the 21st century. P.S. Something I love to this day about the MP5 in this game is the sound. It's the very same from Predator ('87) and the original Die Hard.
And the thing is, gameplay-wise, it's very simple and straightforward--it's essentially a shooting gallery. But I think that's what helps it the most. It makes the game accessible. Anyone can pick up this game and go nuts with it. It's cathartic.

If you had used glock instead of mp5 you wouldn't had to suffer so much in the first 10 minutes. Believe me, It has high accuracy... very good to put bullets in their heads.

I had to inch my way then run for my life for pretty much all of the Asylum part on Normal. Whoever can beat this level on hard and with a controller deserves a fucking medal.
My dad completed all levels on hard black ops is where the real fight begins! I only completed 2 levels on hard first was narazen factory then vorsneka dockyard and now just finished grenzi bridge!

It's already been said, but god damn that shower hall shootout is still unmatched. It almost feels silly considering this is the same game that levels a tower in the tutorial and has you fighting on 2 giant Oil/Gas silos that you get to blow up as well.

I got the strange impression that all the enemies were military criminals/renegades/defectors...along with Black Patrol here maybe there should also be black paramedics, black fire brigade, black coastguard and black air rescue missions?
It's a pain of a mission, I'd suggest moving slowly, especially in the parts with the catwalks. There are tougher missions though. Gotta love this game!

When under pressure, your character will actually reload and switch weapons way faster.
The atmosphere of the asylum still haunts me untill nowadays, don’t know why it feels different when you plays this mission during the night time
