This man is a gem, I love him even more now! I love everything about this, he seems very genuine and actually knows his former co-workers real names. He seems like such a nice guy. Best of luck to him in his future projects and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him, wherever that is.
Eli was this unusual character for Stargate. He was a pretty typical science fiction fan, a computer geek, and simultaneously trying hard to take care of his family and be responsible (although others didn't see that in him), while also living fairly unfulfilled, shut in away from outside life and much of the social and work scenes, because of his own personality plus his workk and play interests, plus that need to care for his family. All that in this college-age guy just starting his adult life. (And with a parallel to a few such characters like in the Last Starfighter and Real Genius.) I thought that was very good to see, this laid-back young guy as compared to the gung-ho military types and the academic or world-weary techs and engineers and scientists we usually saw in Stargate. (I've been around actual cadets in college, and the young, college-age enlisted and non-coms and new officers are a lot like the usual Stargate military characters, talented, committed, gung-ho, but new, young.) So Eli's character was really refreshing in Stargate, I thought. Very relatable.
David said the thing I've always lived by: Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you should be negative about it. There are other people who like it and your opinion is not the only one that matters. The first time I watched SGU I didn't like it. But the second time, I really grew to appreciate it.
Eli was a wonderful character and I loved David in a Christmas movie I saw him in. He seems like a very sincere and kind person. I hope to see him in more stuff soon. And not just behind the camera, lol. Many of my favorite actors go that route and I miss them. :)
When I first saw SU I felt myself following Eli more than anyone else, it could of been his superb acting and/or writing but he was the reason to tune into next week’s episode.....brilliant video cheers. Just a thought, it would be quite easy for a return, they managed to cross the universe without stopping and Eli managed to work a pod....please get them to get the show back on...
I am sure most of us still hope it will come back. But, my, what a lean Eli we will have!! I have both series and watch it over and over (almost know all the scripts now!). Yet, I see something new each time in it.
His appearance in SG-U was the first time I'd seen him acting. I really liked the character and the show, and was disappointed when SG-U didn't get renewed. If we get a new Stargate series, I'd love to see the SG-U cast appear somehow in the new series. :D I don't know if we'll get a completion to SG-U, but it would sure be cool.
I always thought that SGU was a breath of fresh air as content in my favorite Scifi franchise. I was shocked that SGU was canceled because SG-1 and Atlantis were so long lived. I hope that Brad, the rest of the writers, and the Actors understand that not all of the fans were against the change of style to SGU vs SG-1/Atlantis. All of the shows are excellent in their own way.
I don't mind reboots (especially of films) because every new production of a play (High School, College, Community Theater, etc.), is essentially a reboot. It's the new director's/producer's vision each time. And that's part of the fun in seeing the same play multiple times.
I too was crushed when SGU ended I had fallen in love with these ‘wrong people’ and was so confidently optimistic about their chances to not only survive but to thrive in the next galaxy/chapter SGU is my favourite of the franchise by a mile. Thanks David and to the full ensemble for taking me on Destiny’s journey with you
I definitely get why David likes how the series ends with Gauntlet leaving it up to the fans to come up with their own continuations/endings... But let's face it, a tremendous amount of creativity, talent and hard work goes into every single episode! And most of the fans just aren't that creative or imaginative, if we really were that gifted, we would likely be working in the industry... Basically, whatever we may come up with will probably not seem quite as interesting, exciting, detailed or satisfying as what we would've gotten with even one more season of SGU! I mean, in my opinion, by the end of season two, they had really finally gotten to a point (on many levels: character development, knowledge & control of the Destiny, ability to work together, understanding of how to survive, etc...) that they were in a position to really start doing some of the most incredible story telling of the entire franchise! There were still so many mysteries of the Destiny to reveal, and so many possibilities of what/who they would find out there!
i have written a few very detailed pieces of info on this series, my creative writing stems from explaining how things worked in the series as well as deep diving on how things worked or made sense to the overall story. the problem i have is almost nobody engages within what i have to write about, i mean i will get the occasional like or that sounds amazing! but it's rare i ever get an audience with what i have to write, so i often stick with theory's that i come up with based off of what happened with the show that explore into deeper details as i write them and think about the information that's going on in the show. and sometimes i accidently create conflict with ppl who don't ever try to look passed certain story lines that are known in the story that are either not explained at all or very poorly explained which leads me to try and explain what other possibilities could exist given what i know of the series and the elements that exist within the universe. and your right, there are so many more possibilities within an series like this, but either no one wants to explore these other possibilities or they just want the story to stay as is because they don't want to dig any deeper into the universe, which saddens me, because i try really hard to dig deep into the lore of the universe as well as write up reasons why such a thing could be explained or possible in the series. but if nobody's interested, than what am i doing here? talking to myself in an very well in depth passionate way i guess. i like to role play what other possible scenarios that could exist within the series and possibly add to what's been talked about to further enrich the series, and possibly bring it back to life.
@@5226-p1e I love your interest & enthusiasm! And I'd love to check out some of your thoughts if you'd like to point me in the right direction. I can offer at least one potential reason for the luke warm reception you've described. (Of course, I'm not familiar with your ideas so this is obviously non-specific & not at all personal, and might not apply at all.). What comes to mind is some lingering hope that some aspect of the sorry might be addressed/continued at some point. In that light, I can certainly imagine a reluctance to engage with anything that might contradict future canon. Also, I think that people are becoming more lazy, in general, and less motivated to engage in a creative process; I find many younger people satisfied to leave that process to others.
@@DJJonPattrsn22 well a lot of my stuff i have posted in random comment sections while on youtube and that's where i typically get the most engagement, but i have also posted on this website within the discussion tab of the fandom wiki, and i wish more folks would at least engage in feed back or be willing to see what i see and further talk about that topic. i usually write the long and drawn out pieces of info. i don't like engaging in the more simple things like vote for this or this or posts on memes, that kind of stuff isn't really appealing to me, i mean i like memes when they are good, but many are just lack luster, how about i just send you to the discussion board that i have used, and maybe you will discover my posts. stargate.fandom.com/f
@@DJJonPattrsn22 some of my posts were a little off, and normally i would try to edit my posts, but the wiki has some weird bug where you can't edit old posts which makes that process of posting them there, that much more frustrating. idk if i should join another group that has more activity or if i should invite more ppl into the wiki. but it would be nice to have some interaction and engagement within the chat. i do take issue with the novels and folks calling them cannon, but i have no conflicts with something if it's written as fan fiction. and that's probably my biggest pet peve, but i'm very interested in theory's and concepts and fanfictions. not into crossovers all that much.
It is so delightful to have David here and to listen to this interview. Eli has always been my favorite character if the series, although TJ is a close 2nd and in truth many of them were my favorite at one point or another, as well as my least favorite! I really loved learning that David was already a fan who had watched all the episodes of the previous series. There's nothing I enjoy learning about an actor in stargate than that! LOL
You know, the way that SGU ended too leads to this great opportunity to be able to revisit it in real time. Kind of like they've done with Picard. Imagine coming back to it, and finding Eli older and fitter (David, you look amazing brother!), it's an easy out but any actors that can't return could be killed off or be left in stasis for the stories sake. I also think it could be part of moving the whole franchise forward.
One of my most favorite things about this show is learning how truly wonderful virtually all of people are that are involved with this franchise! Of course, that really starts with you, the host, David! You have such a calming & friendly demeanor and such a genuine interest in your guests and a passion for the franchise and the industry. You create the perfect atmosphere and setting for a delightful & engaging conversation! And of course, I love hearing through your guests just how lovely the other actors, writers and producers are. I have loved Ming Na so much ever since The Joy Luck Club, and I REALLY loved her in SGU! She did such an amazing job with her character... Truly stellar performances in so many episodes. It was such a joy to learn what an awesome person she is; not that it wasn't already obvious with her recent interactions with the Star Wars franchise. But still, I really enjoyed hearing from you guys as well!
SGU was definitely an acquired taste. I tried watching it when it first came out and didn't get past more than a couple of episodes. Just a few years back I finally decided to give it another shot and couldn't believe that it only went 2 seasons. Once you get about halfway through the first season, you're hooked. It's more of a BSG vibe than a traditional Stargate series. We got burned on two Stargate Series ending before their time.
@pete M3rlin it really makes me sad that we have very low chance of getting season 3, but I still have hope in 4th Stargate series that was supposed to include at least a part of SGU's future.?
I started rewatching the shows when I heard the Amazon news. It had been about a year ro so since I'd last binge-watched any Stargate. So I watched the first episodes of SG-1, SG-A, consecutively, and need to watch the SG-U pilot. What struck me about SG-A versus SG-U is, in SG-A, the team all want very much to reach Atlantis and then the Athenian refugees have to reach Atlantis for shelter. Versus, in SG-U, the Destiny team all wanted to reach that first site, but then disaster hits, and they are all forced to go somewhere they don't know, didn't want to go, and then they are stuck, marooned there with no way to get back and very unsure if they can survive. So you have one group who want or need to be in their setting, versus another similar group who are in the wrong place, wrong time, wrong reasons, who have to pull together while everything, including themselves, is/are trying to pull them apart. As dark as SG-U started out, as much conflict as they had, I also thought it was compelling, and it was a welcome escape from reality for me when it aired.
Absolutely amazing! I have enjoyed this interview so much, David Blue is a really passionate guy on what he did and what he does. You guys give me so many happy moments while watching these interviews, while revisiting our beloved stargate. Thank you!!
I'll be honest, I wasn't a Stargate fan. I saw both SG-1 and Atlantis though, because my mother is a huge fan and she always watched the reruns. :D So I saw those, and they were entertaining, but still didn't made me a fan. Then when I first saw the pilot for SGU, I thought, wow, this is something else! I loved the character dynamics, that there's a darker atmosphere, more ambiguity in morals. Rush was the most interesting for me, but Eli was my favourite. I was so pissed the series got cancelled. I mean, come on, the other shows had 10 and 5 seasons, and they cancel the one I'm a fan of after 2? :D I hope someday there's gonna be a continuation like... years have passed and they just come out of their stasis. It's the perfect setup because it really has been years we last saw them. It would be great.
I identified with Eli. Like I identified with Wesley Crusher in Star Trek. The super smart kid. Adults and peers could be intimidated. They don't know how to handle a kid who has the intellect of an adult. Where they understand more than most people. When you sometimes find the answers or notice the flaws in the work of adults. Yet many don't want to listen.
@ 42:00 YES! Thank you for saying that in such a succinct way. Unfortunately, I fear that many of the (UN) fans who really need to hear & digest & accept that bit of wisdom & truth are, to put it bluntly, haters. And they don't care about that and they certainly don't care about any of the true fans or the franchise itself. But I truly hope & pray that I am proven wrong when that 4th series finally comes to fruition. And BTW, I say this because of comments & interactions that these people are still putting out on this site and elsewhere. And I just find it really sad and kind if depressing, and as a real fan of anything that is and will ever become part of the stargate franchise I am angry, disappointed and hurt by their selfishness most of all, but of course by their rudeness. But I certainly would live to be wrong about this!
hi Ellie or David I have been trying to contact you for a year now. ever since i watched SGU it has been my favorite TV sires and when I found out they weren't making any more I cried my eyes out. please get your friends and help get back our universe. WE ARE HERE remember that. please please please we are all dyeing to know how it ends. if it doe sent happen I will probably cry my heart out. please make this happen and thanks for Elie goodbye
When I first heard about SGU coming out and seen a promotional photo, I was upset, because I thought it would be cheesy, because it sounded like it was going to be teenagers, like they were trying to do another Stargate SG-1 or Atlantis with preteens, which usually equals cheesy. But being a Stargate fan, I had to watch, and it's a good thing I did, because it was nothing like what I thought they were promoting it to be. (I think they were promoting it heavily to a very young audience, which did not seem right, or necessary, because they did not do that when SG-1 came out and the actors were quite young, and young people love Stargate no matter the age of the characters, younger generations love SG-1, even though it's not new. But the actors ended up being cut from the same type of cloth as the actors from the previous series', and I can't imagine anyone different playing the characters, they did a great job hiring the actors. Even though SGU is different, it still has the heart & soul of the "original".
David (Read), I think it would be amazing if you did a room tour and told us the stories behind some of the Stargate items you have. Id love to know where you got the Destiny.
I'll show the house some time later this year. It's full of Stargate goodies. The story of this particular Destiny model is in the 2021 Q1 News Updates episode. I got it from Tom at working-props.com.
I am rather angry at MGM and their practices, I know logically its not SGU's fault that SGA was cancelled but my heart is slow to accept that, like I will rewatch SGSG1 and SGA from start to finish every few years but cannot watch SGU again x) Danm you MGM Have to say this episode made me give SGU another go, he is great.
part of the problem was MGM was on the verge of going bankrupt and they thought if they created another series that was just as popular or hyped that it could be saved, but a lot of ppl didn't like the writing of SGU, i didn't much like the personal conflicts that tended to branch into more conflicts, but i do recognize that it was realistic for how the story was written and needed to be believable and realistic while the crew discovered things. but the average stargate fan doesn't like the conflicts that exist between the crew which was completely different from what they knew from the previous shows, as these shows were much more structured and more based on exploration of the universe and the conflicts that existed outside their own petty conflicts. not to say some crew conflicts didn't happen in sg1 or sga, but it happen far less and it was more focused on the story and adventure, other than the personal conflicts that branched into more conflicts for SGU. the funny thing about SGU is i liked the aspect that it was more about survival and dealing with the current circumstances, and i liked when the crew got along and worked together through their struggles and exploration and adventure became the norm. i wish they made an official video game that was just like SGU when it came to resource management and exploring the ship and and fixing the ship and the tech of the ancient alterans, i wished they used the chair more in the show, but because of the damn conflict of telling the story through more conflicts, the chair never had an real chance until that gin character and the time when Dr. Rush used it to find something within his own memories as well as use the chair to figure out problems on the ship. i was kind of sad when they turned off that program in the ship that was wargaming in their dreams in how to figure out strategy's, that was an very interesting integrated system in the ship to have. but because it screwed with their dreams too much, they turned it off and never went back to using it like a tool for learning or figuring out how they could use it for other issues within the ship. i would have loved to see them explore the ship a bit more and repair other parts within the ship with that robot they found, the ship is millions of years old and i believe that it once had more robots working through out the ship keeping the ship in good repair, but my theory is that these robots were ambushed on the planets they would stop by and collect resources and the destiny created an program to when they should return, and if they didn't return, then the destiny would jump into FTL on to the next destination while compensating these damaged areas and locking them out of being used just in the case someone where to gate to the ship. but the story the crew worried about conflicts more than their own survival which was probably why in the end they were unprepared and so helpless to cross that gap across the galaxy into the next galaxy. can you imagine if they were able to at the very least repair most of the essential systems within the ship, that they would be able to make that last trip with not as dire issues causing them to have such an hopeless ending of the show? anyway, i have probably made this an wall of text my now, so i will stop here, and if you read this far into my random ramblings on this show. well you deserve a prize, and the only thing i can deliver is more walls of text as this is what i'm good at.
@The high ground huh, i didn't know about the exchange rate thing. i remember hearing by one of the producers i think it was brad wright that it was cheaper to film in Vancouver Canada than anywhere else, i have since this show seen many other shows being filmed there. i remember them talking about the Smallville guys were filming just down the street from them lol. and since then have seen shows like Riverdale being filmed there as well. so ppl still film there, and i don't know if the rates improved at all but shows are still being filmed there apparently.
With the way the overall Stargate Series ended in all 3, Fanfictions are able to pick up the loose ends. There's one Fanfiction that i think the story itself is fantastic, despite the writing being from a new writer.
ничего не поняла из английского жаль . но актер дэвид очень нравится . жаль нету продолжения 3 сезона зв . вселенная . с удовольствием смотрела фильм 2 сезона . желаю удачи актеру и здоровья
Eli should be THE Icon for this pandemic, he was more socially distanced an any human ever was, at the end of the series he wasn't even in the Milky Way, and everybody else on the ship was frozen solid. He should search the ship and maybe find some rations left by the ancients and build a sex-bot, because he was a young man with needs.
build a sex bot lol! he would probably figure out how to use the ancient chair and create an program where he could interact with his girlfriend gin and do stuff with her if you know what i mean.... but who knows, maybe he would use the chair to figure out how to fix all of their problems by barrowing the information he needed to fix things on the ship and restore his mental faculty's using the chair as an tool for information such as the repository on knowledge that O'Neill used, except this version of that use was reduced and less likely to destroy his brain, they never went back to the chair after that one dude was using it and col. young demanded he get removed from the chair, which is what probably scrambled his brain in the first place, if they allowed him to use the chair without trying to pry him from it with force. he would probably been fine.
For Valentine's Day, who are your favorite Stargate Universe couples ? 1. Colonel Everett Young & Lt. (TJ) Tamara Johansen 2 Lt. Matthew Scott & Chloe Armstrong 3. Camile Wray & Sharon Walker 4. Master Sgt. Ronald Greer & Dr. Lisa Park 5. Varro & 2nd Lt. Vanessa James 6. Eli Wallace & Ginn 7. Dr. Nicholas Rush & Dr. Amanda Perry 8. Adam Brody & his whisky still
When SGU arrived... I was angry that the change was too dramatic and SGA was cut off like broken leg. Now I believe it was the best SG series (maybe I would only cut the sad reflective music endings in some episodes).
i was working Yakima comic-con as one of the venders and Conner Trinneer was such an ass i wanted to ask him about his time on SGA and he shut me down and told me to "go away" and "he didn't have time for this shit" which really made me wonder why he was even there is he was just going to be a complete disappointment to fans. hell in comparison meeting Deep Roy was amazing what an amazing person and he's so witty and down to earth he was part of the experience i was hoping to have. P.S then again he looked like he was both tired haggard and just a bit out of it
Boy got THIN!!!...WOW...now I have a storyline for the 3 episode Mini Series to end SGU!!! Eli couldnt get the Pod to work so he ended up living on the ship for 3 years with minimal power...freezing every day, made his own garden that gave him 2 potatoes and some Arugula per week...Im loving it!!! Just kidding but if the powers that be use this storyline i want to be in the credits!!! A nice fat check would be nice too!!
the funny thing if the show were ever to come back is, he would have to lose even more weight to appear malnourished because of the way things ended and how much fuel the destiny had to make it across that gap of space in between the two galaxy's, everyone else were in stasis pods, where he couldn't occupy one for himself. i didn't read the comic book, especially after hearing how they decided to end it, i just can't take it as cannon. it was just a bad written ending IMO.
In regards to our career choices i also feel that the past devotion to a single job or business is just not rewarded or recognized like it was in the past. Put in 30 years at the same place and they're not looking to help you retire, they're looking to get rid of you ASAP and fill your position with a lower paid employee.
i looked up the game Starcom Nexus, and i saw the gameplay, and it looks nothing like what i wanted to be a space game, much less like SGU, my idea of an game like SGU would be that you get to explore the vessel from within just like in the show where the vessel is automated but in bad shape but the vessel also knows what the ship needs so it's programmed to look for resources to gate to and grab the resources and head back to the ship and to restore what the ship needs, i like resource management as well as exploration, space battles not so much, or at least not early on in the game, i prefer building my foundation first or at least repairing my vessel first while figuring things out. even if the game were an simulator type of game, where i'm apart of an crew and my actions matter but so do my crew members actions as well as what's going on outside the star ship. i would actually prefer the game to be within the vessel most of the time while building it up to par so that it could explore more things within the universe, i would also like to explore the massive ancient ship and learning about it's previous creators and learn from these situations to better operate the ship, like SGU except without the interpersonal drama and conflicts. conflict is good for the story, but not conflicts between the crew and so constantly as it was on the show. but i liked the variety of conflict when it came to maintaining the ships systems as well as going to other planets for resource management and the potential of running into an alien species that may or may not be in conflict with you, and you are rewarded with other skills like an speech system where you can talk or negotiate yourself out of conflict or get some kind of trade going on between your faction and the other, and if all needs be take care of the conflict if no negotiate happen bringing an possible story to the overall game sometime later in the series. you see, i loved these aspects of SGU as an series, but i didn't like the personal conflicts that were so damn constant between the crew, i would prefer an crew that works together and works to get passed their issues with each other than what the show provided, but i get it. i understand why the show was written this way, but the writers had to understand the issues of writing an series like this would cause the fans to not be as interested in the show so much if the conflicts lasted for more than an season. was it realistic given the circumstances they were in, yes it was realistic, but it made for bad writing because you can't keep your audience in perpetual conflict with each other for too long like what was written in the show. i still loved the series and wish that it was either continued or at the very least, resolved in an manner where they discovered what cosmic microwave radiation was and what they could do with that information.
SGU continues... The travel took too too long to get to the next galaxy. Eli died alone. Even in stasis, everyone has grown older when they wake up. The journey continues....
I'm glad he lost the weight, I just wish he had done it throughout the first and second season of SGU. It would have been a realistic representation of their struggles for food. How does only one guy on the show stay fat?
SINCE THE U.S. MILITARY IS NOW CONFIRMING THE ALIEN ""VAL"" ... IS TRUE... DO ANY OF THE ACTORS HAVE STORIES FROM MILITARY REGARDING ALIENS?? AS FOR BOOKS READ... ASK IF THEY HAVE READ VAUGHAN HEPPNERS "" THE LOST STARSHIP"" & ""EXTINCTION"" SERIES & IF THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM ON FILM
SGU is good, really good on its own, but you can’t produce 15 years of O’Neil making irreverent comments, Rodney and Shepard verbally sparring and turn it into BSG without warning and be surprised when you get blowback. Shanks gets it even if Maliozza(sp?) doesn’t. Maybe if they had warned people up front, it would have gone down differently. NB: the case of SGU (which is a good show) is not like the cases of other SF franchises (and we’ll skip that discussion).
Oh yes, I absolutely concur! There are a number of things that could've been done differently that I believe would've improved the success & acceptance of SGU. On the part of the network for sure, but especially the writers. It would've helped tremendously if the had not cut out the dialogue in Atlantis about finding the 9 chevron address in the data base. And if they had actually included passing mention of it in multiple episodes! Just getting the fans thinking about it, coming up with their own ideas & theories.... That alone would've certainly helped! I also think that it would've been helpful if they had been a bit more open about the series leading up to its premiere. There was probably more out there than I encountered. But I remember having a hard time learning anything about the series, only finding very vague & fairly short trailers. But ultimately the show's demise was really the result of bankruptcy... But the network has to be held largely responsible for the poor ratings especially during the second season! I remember them moving the show's time slot multiple times without much warning. I was having a hard time figuring out when you tune in. And on one occasion there was a wrestling match that run longer than the time allotted and into the premiere of an episode of SGU, and instead of pushing SGU back, they just picked up in the middle of the episode and never even played any information about how/when the full episode could be viewed. I was absolutely livid and never even attempted to watch the series again on TV! I was able to find high quality torrents of the episodes with the commercials removed within hours of their premiere. They were also readily available on various streaming platforms. There was very little regulation or control of all that in those days and I'm convinced that there were many other fans fans who resorted to similar tactics. It was actually one of my friends that suggested that solution to me, and in fact all of my friends who were stargate fans were getting SGU from alternate sources.
This man is a gem, I love him even more now! I love everything about this, he seems very genuine and actually knows his former co-workers real names. He seems like such a nice guy. Best of luck to him in his future projects and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him, wherever that is.
I can't believe there isn't a stargate game, with these next gen consoles the game could/would be so ridiculously awesome.
How can you not love David Blue? Great interview. Eli Wallace was a great character

I feel the same, SGU is the best of the whole franchise, this is a great interview.
Thanks David and to the full ensemble for taking me on Destiny’s journey with you
I was waiting for this one. Nice interview, very insightful. We need more SGU talk.
It shall be done.
Also, I think that people are becoming more lazy, in general, and less motivated to engage in a creative process; I find many younger people satisfied to leave that process to others.

well a lot of my stuff i have posted in random comment sections while on youtube and that's where i typically get the most engagement, but i have also posted on this website within the discussion tab of the fandom wiki, and i wish more folks would at least engage in feed back or be willing to see what i see and further talk about that topic. i usually write the long and drawn out pieces of info. i don't like engaging in the more simple things like vote for this or this or posts on memes, that kind of stuff isn't really appealing to me, i mean i like memes when they are good, but many are just lack luster, how about i just send you to the discussion board that i have used, and maybe you will discover my posts. stargate.fandom.com/f

not into crossovers all that much.
LOL
Fantastic interview. Heading over to Twitch now to sign up and follow him there.
One of the very very few interviews of all times where I really enjoyed it and gave me a whole new respect for them
Great guy (David). One of the most loveable and relatable characters (Eli). One of the best sci fi series of all time (SGU).
PS Thanks for taking the time to do all these interviews!
I want Eli to be in the 4th show they are working on!!!
Eli was easily the best character
Stargate Universe Season 3 will be about Chloe falling in love with Eli and Eli treating her as a friend. It would be hilarious!
That's perfect idea for sure!!
Is that something you came up with, or something they actually plan to write?
@@awesd7925 That's just wishful thinking! But hey, you never know!
@pete M3rlin it really makes me sad that we have very low chance of getting season 3, but I still have hope in 4th Stargate series that was supposed to include at least a part of SGU's future.?
My favorite characters: Eli, Greer, Johansen. Would have liked to see more from James and Dr. Park. I really like Jennifer Spence.
Great interview as usual. Godspeed
Glad you enjoyed it
I started rewatching the shows when I heard the Amazon news.
Thank you!!
Superb, David i've recently found your channel, being a huge Stargate fan, your content and interviews are amazing!
Waited impatiently for this one and loved it.
What a lovely fella
A new iteration ov Star Gate wood bee just tremendous!!
Great episode! I absolutely love this channel!
@ 49:00. What a fabulous dream and yet what an awful dream to wake up from!
agreed
Awesome!!
35:39 Here comes the question everyone wants to know!!!
Edit- I moved my comments to the top,
@@Scottlp2
how dare you!
why would you do such an bad thing. lol i'm kidding, but now i will never see what you had to say because of this. oh well.
i'm not sure what you mean by the UN fans. i'm out of the loop, so why are the UN fans so bad?
I missed this by 2 hours...
Eli looks great without the extra weight. I should take him as example.
Now it takes us through the uuuuniverse, stargate infinity
hi Ellie or David I have been trying to contact you for a year now. ever since i watched SGU it has been my favorite TV sires and when I found out they weren't making any more I cried my eyes out. please get your friends and help get back our universe.
Eli was me !
David played a fleshed out person from day one.
Very like Michael Shanks. I believed they where real people engaging these events.
49:47 was it a dream... or a memory suppressed with alien tech?
SGU3, to be the first tv show filmed off world?! 🤫
David Blue seems to have similar interests to myself. Such an interesting person. Would be interesting to meet.
Eli, Rush and Greer wer my favourites
I think it would be better to save/archive the Twitch Streams. What if you really enjoyed a live watch commentary and wanted to re-watch it?....
I'm a - ahem - strategy game champion and am waiting for O'Neill and Rush to come knocking my door to sign me up.
I am rather angry at MGM and their practices, I know logically its not SGU's fault that SGA was cancelled but my heart is slow to accept that, like I will rewatch SGSG1 and SGA from start to finish every few years but cannot watch SGU again x)
Danm you MGM
Have to say this episode made me give SGU another go, he is great.
part of the problem was MGM was on the verge of going bankrupt and they thought if they created another series that was just as popular or hyped that it could be saved, but a lot of ppl didn't like the writing of SGU, i didn't much like the personal conflicts that tended to branch into more conflicts, but i do recognize that it was realistic for how the story was written and needed to be believable and realistic while the crew discovered things.
but the average stargate fan doesn't like the conflicts that exist between the crew which was completely different from what they knew from the previous shows, as these shows were much more structured and more based on exploration of the universe and the conflicts that existed outside their own petty conflicts.
not to say some crew conflicts didn't happen in sg1 or sga, but it happen far less and it was more focused on the story and adventure, other than the personal conflicts that branched into more conflicts for SGU.
the funny thing about SGU is i liked the aspect that it was more about survival and dealing with the current circumstances, and i liked when the crew got along and worked together through their struggles and exploration and adventure became the norm.
i wish they made an official video game that was just like SGU when it came to resource management and exploring the ship and and fixing the ship and the tech of the ancient alterans, i wished they used the chair more in the show, but because of the damn conflict of telling the story through more conflicts, the chair never had an real chance until that gin character and the time when Dr.
@The high ground
huh, i didn't know about the exchange rate thing. i remember hearing by one of the producers i think it was brad wright that it was cheaper to film in Vancouver Canada than anywhere else, i have since this show seen many other shows being filmed there.
i remember them talking about the Smallville guys were filming just down the street from them lol. and since then have seen shows like Riverdale being filmed there as well.
so ppl still film there, and i don't know if the rates improved at all but shows are still being filmed there apparently.

3. Camile Wray & Sharon Walker
4. Master Sgt. Ronald Greer & Dr. Lisa Park
5. Varro & 2nd Lt. Vanessa James
6. Eli Wallace & Ginn
7. Dr. Nicholas Rush & Dr. Amanda Perry
8. Adam Brody & his whisky still
When SGU arrived... I was angry that the change was too dramatic and SGA was cut off like broken leg. Now I believe it was the best SG series (maybe I would only cut the sad reflective music endings in some episodes).
I was wondering if David blue would be willing to write for stargate 4
After college, I still not know what I wanted to do. I was discouraged a lot by my parents.
i was working Yakima comic-con as one of the venders and Conner Trinneer was such an ass i wanted to ask him about his time on SGA and he shut me down and told me to "go away" and "he didn't have time for this shit" which really made me wonder why he was even there is he was just going to be a complete disappointment to fans. hell in comparison meeting Deep Roy was amazing what an amazing person and he's so witty and down to earth he was part of the experience i was hoping to have.
A nice fat check would be nice too!!
he looks like Kit Harrington now
I really like David Blues charakter he seems so energetic and full of joy his physique kinda threw me off though, I really liked the chubby Eli
the funny thing if the show were ever to come back is, he would have to lose even more weight to appear malnourished because of the way things ended and how much fuel the destiny had to make it across that gap of space in between the two galaxy's, everyone else were in stasis pods, where he couldn't occupy one for himself.
i didn't read the comic book, especially after hearing how they decided to end it, i just can't take it as cannon. it was just a bad written ending IMO.
Why does David Blue have a Green Screen? What is he hiding? Hmmmmm???
I'm guessing a messy room.

Good interview, but that bad green screen is so distracting! 😎
To be honest.. If I could have my way.. I rather have new Stargate shows than youtube..
Your dad was giving you good advice and you're not the first gen to ignore their parent's advice and go off on their own. ALL generations do it.
SGU continues... The travel took too too long to get to the next galaxy. Eli died alone. Even in stasis, everyone has grown older when they wake up. The journey continues....
DS9 has become my favorite Star Trek series. But TNG had always been my fav until I finally watched DS9. I enjoyed Voyager as well, but not like TNG.
DS9 is good because it copied Babylon 5! Fortunately, both turned out great!
It was actually one of my friends that suggested that solution to me, and in fact all of my friends who were stargate fans were getting SGU from alternate sources.
he lost weight
