      I'd say he's startled more than anything. After all, he's so high he doesn't even seem to realise there's an audience around =)
      This - of course - doesn't change the fact, that Jimmy Page is God.

      Cutthroat Pranks I often wondered why that is and I have an idea and it's supported by Page and a lot of Brits.
      After WW2 and severe rationing in England, parents wanted their kids to have every opportunity for the good life(Ian Anderson says this very thing in an interview. It mightbe on the DELUXE Aqualung album??) And for many this meant music lessons and learning an or multiple instruments. Now, Page was also a studio musician and he says it forced him to learn a lot of different techniques because if he couldnt they'd just get someone else. And he wanted that consistent paycheck.
      So MANY early players were disciplined and schooled players with daily lessons and recitals etc in a strict British system. It made the players excellent; well rounded and left them in mastery of their instruments.
      I dont know what to say about today when many believe one can "play" a turntable?!.
      But most of the famous players had lessons as a kid-especially the Brits. And for most people, if you dont have lessons you dont have an objective viewpoint nor a goal/challenge set. Most just "f around on the guitar or any instrument" without lessons.
      Even great solo classical players still have tutors to review their technique and interpretation. I know Joshua Bell (violin) does.

      Well sonny today's generation (millennials) are taught that any truth goes so they only want what suits their feelings. If you told somebody a fact from the 70s they will argue like "No way" and shut you out. Saw it on two different videos. One of them they kept hashing at each other with the millennial calling the user a troll.

    @themachinist1000 Well... Bert & and Davy TRANSCRIBED the most popular versions of these TRADITIONAL FOLK SONGS... and for that they certainly deserve credit....
    But they DID NOT WRITE THEM. HerBert spent years playing one-night stands in British folk clubs and owes his musical apprenticeship that exposed him to a range of influences, including especially Anne Briggs, from whom he learned some of his most popular songs (such as "Blackwaterside" and "Reynardine") Same can be said of Davy

Plus, I love all of zeppelin's music, however I think blackmountainside is my least favorite. The original songs zeppelin wrote that you give no credit to kick this acoustic solo's fucking ass. Listen to bron y aur. That is a precious gem and page wrote that gem, NOONE ELSE but him!

    I don't know why anyone is saying about drugs for this performance, he is in DADGAD tuning which is NOT standard tuning
    so of course his solo playing is going to be off, he isn't used to the tuning because he doesn't play it often.

    • @No_1_really_
      @No_1_really_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not because he hasn’t played it in a while. Open D or drop D incorrectly called by me give u an unprecedented freedom that’s apparent in James’s ad lib he’s doing. It’s messing around not sloppyness...that said...it’s the elephant in the room ain’t it ...going from brilliance to sloppyness

    • @Manuginobili1000
      @Manuginobili1000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jimmy was on heroin at this point but what people rarely acknowledge is that he was also an alcoholic which I believe was what inhibited his playing most. Other guitarist have been heroin addicts and it didn't effect their playing: slash, Eric Clapton, and John Fruciante to name a few. However playing drunk is another thing, go listen to slash play when he's loaded and he's way more sloppy than usual. I'm not saying Pagey was drunk here since this was a great show but drinking a lot before shows had definitely become a thing for him at this point.
