Red Belly Black snakes are very timid and rarely bite people, also they eat other snakes so you want Red Belly black snakes living near your house because that means there will be no Tiger, Brown or Copperheads.
Neal, huntsman spiders look scary, and move REALLY fast. Aside from that, they are not at all aggressive towards humans - they will run away if approached. Many Australian farmhouses host a huntsman spider in their laundry room as barometers. If they are high on the wall, it's going to rain heavily.
I was in my local chemist ystdy morning waiting while getting me scripts done & out the corner of my eye this big brown thing scurried out from under a shelf to in between 2 display boxes. I did the typical tip toe dance, until i realised it was a "mate" (that's what we call Huntsman's in our family). One of the girls said what was it & i said, oh it's only a "mate", do u want me to catch him for youse & release him outside & she says, yeah nah all good let him go. There was a Pommy old man waiting for his script & he was what is it? I said a spider & i pointed him out. He said noooo, u can't catch that & it's huge plus it's a spider. I said i catch & release the ones that come into me house but they eat the cockroaches that's why they're good to have around the house but when the wanna take a shower with u or u wake up in the morning & there's one sitting on the pillow next to u is when they've gotta be caught & taken back to the tree they live in with the rest of the Mate's community. He said ah ok good to know but I've never known of a girl that can catch & handle spiders let alone other insects. I said, i don't pick them up by hand mate, i just catch him with a container 🤣
Not aggressive? I was chased around the lounge room by a dinner plate size one. All I did was lift my feet off the floor onto the lounge so it could get past. It ran at me and jumped onto the lounge. It took me 4 hours but that bastard died that day.
I 100% agree with Brianne on the huntsman spider... they're absolutely fantastic to have around your house, they take care of the real problems and you provide them a place to chill. Huntsmans maybe big, but they don't attack unless provoked, and they can't really hurt or kill you, they're non-venomous, so they're fine to have around. You're far better off having these guys than the really poisonous creatures the huntsmans pray on and product us hoomans from ;).
Nah mate, they are venomous, but their venom is not dangerous to humans. Their bite is said to be painful due to the large fangs, but the wound is similar to a bull ant sting - red and itchy.
I find the Huntsman to be a beautiful creature and have seen Huntsmen about 8 inches from leg tip to leg tip ,, I worked in rural Aus , the Outback and the Huntsman was a frequent sighting up power poles under Possum Guards (an aluminum sleeve fitted around poles to stop creatures trying to get higher up poles and causing outages) situated about 3 meters /10 ft off the ground ,,, snakes were never really an issue cos once they feel vibrations they don't feel comfortable with ,, they will generally leave , leave them an exit and most times you won't even realise that a snake was present or close
I would have placed Kangaroos in the looks cute but can kill you section. They are deadly when fighting dogs, and have recently killed a man in Western Australia near the end of 2022.

She did red belly blacks a tad dirty putting them there, they are pretty chill. Brianne I disagree with some. The red belly snake should be one down below the brown snake. Really red bellies are good to have around as that should mean there's no browns around. Besides that they won't go after you unless they feel threaten. But then browns will too but they are more vicious and can go after you for a bit.
I agree. I lived in the Victorian High Country where there are plenty of both. The red belly black is often found near to water and is quite shy, the brown is way more poisonous and harder to see in the brush so you might mess with one by mistake and then you are in big trouble.
