I no-lifed this game yesterday and really enjoyed it. I wish it had an endless mode and a little more variety of tech. Late game, I basically had no use for most materials and was just floating around. I didn't see a lot of replayablity in it because of the story and sort of shallow building. The art style and music are wonderful. There was also a lack of features. I'd've liked some simple ones like the ability to disable buildings I don't actively need to free up people, rather than having to demolish it and rebuild it when I need it. Also, one word: railings. Haha. My outboard pathways always made me uneasy, watching people walk around with no railing between them and terminal velocity death. There was a lot of tech that I basically never touched.
I was the same way, grabbed Airborne Kingdom because I loved the look and after download it lasted 2 solid gaming sessions as I couldn't put it down. I was going to argue about the tech but thinking about it, half of the propulsion and lift options were untouched and it wasn't until the very end when I attempted to optimize the citizens assigned to desires and the space in my residential area that I even played around with certain higher tech desires. I guess it's the zen nature of the game that hits it here as it doesn't really force efficiency so why fix what's not broken?
The concept reminds me of an old PC game I used to play in the late 90's called Stratosphere. I haven't thought about it in like 20 years so this video brought me back to when I was a wee lad. Will be checking this game out for sure.
That's the same reason I was excited about this. Although there's no combat in this one -- you may want to check out Galaxy Run if you want to build and optimize a ship, though that's not exactly the same vibe as Stratosphere was.
Played for the first time yesterday. Love it so far. Two put of twelve ground kingdoms needed befriended so far. And yes, it doesn't seem to be challenging, even I likely will manage it, despite the fact I really suck at economic strategies, I just live building and exploration, so that's what I do. Only once I almost ran out of water, but even then when aeroplanes were already sent to get more of it, so it was fine. P.S. Would I pay full price? No, this one seem to costly for me (I live in an EU country, but a poor, ex-Soviet one) for a small toy (20,99 Euros in my region), however, I got this for a good discount on Epic store (9,19 Euros instead of 23,99 for a delux version), so I'm more than happy.
Perhaps chill graphics like this helps create that chill-out vibe you're talking about? I feel like the vibe simply wouldn't be the same with realistic Cyberpunk2077-ish graphics 🤔
While I do agree, their is a sale going on right now that gives you an extra $10 off on top of the christmas sale discount. I got the game for under $10, so I couldn't refuse.

Same here, but I couldn't recall the name of it - thanks. I remember ramming other flying islands with spikes built at the edge of my island.
Yesss that game was buggy but tons of fun

This game is pretty addicting. I've got about half of the kingdoms
Oh ok
A "Sky City Builder". You said this like it's a genre? Are there others?
Like 2 others but thier name escapes me

This review is very accurate, and the game very enjoyable.
Did someone say 'Laputa'?
Currently in a Humble Bundle for the next 20 days if anyone is interested.
Is this a never-ending city builder, or at the end of reuniting the 3 kingdoms does the game end? All I want is to build for 300 hours.
no endless mode. which is the #1 reason I haven't bought it
it was epic, 12 hours of game play , too bad is was so short
Out on the Nintendo Switch in two days.
looks like a cool and chill game I can vibe with
Bioshock Infinite City Builder
Looks like that arabian faction from Heroes V, the game.
LoL, no wonder, basically we are building our own flying carpet in this one. XD
this is actually a really good review. glad it wasn't biased and they actually expressed the cons adequately.
Why isn’t this game on steam........
Great review :) Enough to sell me on it. Going to try and then perhaps leave a comment again.
no combat at all?
I would love a chill-out game like this but with graphics so amazing they tax my system like Cyberpunk 2077 does.

kingdom fly poop rain...horayyy hahah just joking
No sky pirates to worry about huh?
Is there an Airborn Kingdom discord server?
No combat, conquer or defence at all?
I was hoping to see flying units in combat.
Huh that looks neat.
Oh. Epic games store. Well, never mind then.

@E M In fact I like the design of epic games launcher more and the free games are a nice bonus
@@JetBlackRage It is permanently on EGS.
@@HeroDarkStorn The devs confirmed it's NEVER coming to Steam because they "believe in Epic's vision".
What a bunch of tossers.
try to keep up with the world will ya? the monopolistic era has ended a while ago. a little bit of competition for Steam won't hurt anyone
Second!

Looks good, i'll play it in a year when it comes out.
It’s already out tho? On sale on epicgames store right now
@@ThishandlefeatureISdumb so, out in a year then!
Hard being Steam fanboy these days
@@JamesBond007Nejc mostly just not interested giving my money to Tencent and a man who thinks PC gaming is dead.
Why don’t you enable captions in your videos?
this game needs elves
