    New here, really love Styropyro, he's not just crazy, he's crazy smart. He's taught classes before and knows a lot about what he's doing, he just also knows how to make it seem alarmingly dangerous. Thankfully he's also super safe about the stuff he does, or he'd get deleted lol.

    The skin effect is actually caused by eddy currents due to the magnetic field inside the conductor, increasing the internal resistance. This causes attenuation of the current density (amount of flowing charges in an area). This makes the charges move best on the "skin" of the conductor. To eliminate some of the increased resistance you can use many wires wrapped around each other, otherwise known as a litz wire.

    My friend I see you're well entertained by Styropyro like the rest of us with jaw dropped the entire time. Please don't try to explain just enjoy!

  • @janhermes6648
    @janhermes6648 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well... Styropyro got the skin effect wrong. Actually a bundle of very thin isolated wires would be the lowest resistant solution here. A thick wire is also ok because it has a pretty big surface area but he inside of the wite isn't used for and current carrying and doesn't help to decrease the resistance.

    If those long arcs from the secondary touch flesh, there would be surface burns but no electrocution due to the low currents and high frequency. Stay away from the primary and the circuitry around the spark gaps, that is super dangerous. The 60 cycle frequency component would probably stop the heart and there is enough current available to cook meat.

    The arc he's drawing to his finger from the plasma globe is burning his skin. Typical voltage for operating that size plasma globe is a few kilovolts. Voltage gives the electricity momentum but current gives it the burn factor.

    not sure but i heard some where that with such high voltages and vacuum vessels you can start to produce X rays?...

    I did that stuff with putting foil on my plazma globe when i was 10 lol, i burned a black spot onto my fingertip lmao

  • @samael978

    I used to do the aluminum foil and then out an apple on top, then I'd hold a paper clip and actually draw on them with electricity

    Telling about voltage is not a measure of danger, couple with high current and you will impress every time.😊

    Plasma globes at about the size of what he's using are usually up to 20,000 volts.
