thanks again for a superlative lesson on one of the best Chicago stars . Incidentally , Mighty Joe Young was the rhythm guitarist on the Delmark West Side Soul album, CD . Recorded 1967 His other great recording was Delmark Black Magic 1968 . Both excellent guitar and vocal performances . 😎
Dontcha just love it? Such a great sound! This is definitely going into the 'ol bag o trix. Thank you Adrian, very much! Be well amigo, Dave in the Adirondacks
Thanks so much man! I'm from Chicago and I'm learning this song to teach to my music students on the South Side. The rhythm guitarist for Magic Sam was my neighbor for a while.... Thanks again this really helps.
Ouch, Rock On Adrian! Now that's some real playing right there... Thanks for this sweet little tutorial, loved it. I really like the way you arranged it into the one guitar...
i just watched that blues unleashed guy teach the Clapton version-kind of neat how different players got so much from one song. i never knew there were earlier versions than johnson! thanks for your preparation!
Cool! I had a 1966 Jazzmaster that looked like your re-issue. Pearl dots, bound neck, witch hat knobs but I had the CBS headstock like the CBS strats. Your American Vintage sounds great! Mine not on the bridge but the neck killed! Keep it up!
Hi Adrian, Thanks for your video. I am very impressed with your video this morning here Maldives where I am based at the moment. I like very much Magic Sam version and infact, I like your play to present as one man show combining everything thats what I like. But hope that you would play complete song with its all solo parts too along with rhythm. Hope that I should contact for special lessons. I already played on acoustic almost 2 years and 3 months, already well versed in pentatonic and Blues Scales for the last one year only on these two scales.
Hello Adrian, another yank here who found you about two weeks ago. Top notch presentation with your efforts. Like that you are a fan of way back blues and rock. Your "Kid" tutorial is fantastic. If you have dvds available please let us know. Sincerely, Bert Clark
+northof50now - Just checked your website. Very nice. Excellent resource to help learn guitar. I will be visiting it as part of my practice/learning routine. Best of luck.
This is great. I'm going out of my mind trying to get the timing right when I play along with Magic Sam though. That part leading into the descending lick at the turn around- I can't nail it and I'm not sure why!
How can I get a blues sound like that? I have a fender champion amp with everything except a middle setting, I'm playing a strat, and I have a distortion pedal. Any tips?
+1 on the overdrive, or, set it on the edge of breakup with your guitar's volume at around 5 and roll the volume up for your crunch and drive by using right hand dynamics. Also, low output pickups help and set them low enough so that they aren't muddy, or too hot.
Try an envelope follower. Not very common, but they do things that normally are outside of what tone controls are capable of. A parametric eq would be another option.
Finally Someone Who Really Knows How To Play Well , Excellent .

Great lesson, nicely broken down. I can follow you "note for note" at the slow play but it's going to take me a while to get up to speed.

AWESOME !!! :D what's that amp in the background ? is it one of those small fender champ amps?
+SallyCanWait1996 Thanks a lot. Yes, it's an 80s Fender Super Champ. Great little amp, gets you a really good tone at quite low volume.
@@acpg does it have verb???

Try an overdrive, not distortion

what guitar is that?
It’s a Fender Jazzmaster
