Would you recommend locked groups for melee units with vastly different speeds? When I play Khorne and have Chaos Warriors with shields and Bloodletters as melee I always fear the Bloodletters will take more missile fire than necessary if walking the same speed as Chaos Warriors. And there's no way to stay passive and rely on ranged/artillery with Khorne :-D
I’d have them in different locked groups, you can still select them all and alt-drag move them but I think it’s better to let them actually take advantage of their speed. I’d put them on the edges of your battle line and let them attack in support of your cavalry on the flanks that way they’re not isolated. Then your slower main line can do a follow up charge once they get there
@@paramite67 extremely powerful. I am running multiple tercio armies for the empire by turn 50. They can take down 1-2 armies while being way cheaper than an elite only army
@@peaceprinceshaxi5978 I tried tercio but i always feel its less useful than a normal line since the enemy only attack from one side with a giant line, is it a difficulty setting issue ?
@@paramite67it’ll depend heavily on your enemy’s army. If they have a lot of artillery for example the terico is worthless. Bretonnia is the perfect enemy for terico bc they spam knights and try to out flank you
@@paramite67my favorite generic line up is missile unit with an infantry unit paired up, in a triple line formation. Charge infantry in when your ranged units are getting charged while pulling the ranged unit back. Basically slowly give ground, always disengaging ranged units and slowing the charge with your reserves
Another thing to note, formations will directly impact unit stats in less obvious ways. If you make them charge through 3 units to finally get a good charge on your ranged units, the cav will be exhausted and have significantly reduced stats
This is mostly for newer players but I hope there might be something helpful for you veterans as well!
500 hours in and still learning new things
It astounds me just how in depth the mechanics to these games are
Nice, new vid! I have been re watching all the tercio vids just now
Thanks bud glad you enjoyed it! I'm planning on making a new Tercio vid sometime soon as well
@ awesome! They are very fun to pull off. Especially with a dwarf front line. You’ve made empire my favorite faction

@MalleusGaming57 thank you :-)
I'm never sure if formation are extremely impactful or its just units stats that lift the whole thing.
