Prey - Messed up scene

- A pretty messed up part in the game called Prey. Two lil kids trapped in a room, the little girl gets possessed and impales the little boy on a piece of sharp metal jutting out of a wall.
Its pretty amazing that this game got away with this.

Tommy’s reactions (from my game so far) were funny as hell. This game’s still great though and I’m glad I got it off G2A.
He said it before they were murdered.
This game is disturbing. But brutally realistic. Because if there was an alien invasion we have to realize that not even children would be spared. All would undergo whatever horrors await us.

Name a game... and TLOU doesn’t count, that’s an important event in the backstory of Joel
I believe TLOU does count as it's a shock to the start of the story for first time players. Another I would put is Outlast 2.

Wow, I can't believe they got away with this. I think the only other time I've seen anything like this was In the Witcher 3. You find a dead kid and his parents In a shack by a small lake, and even then you don't actually see him die. I'm certainly not going to say I want to see more kids die In games, but I don't feel that It should be disallowed either. Freedom of speech and expression and all that. As long as It's handled well and is cohesive to the rest of the game I think I could deal.
Powder Cat Fallout 2's original version had killable children and a scripted event where a kid and his family was moved down by miniguns.
It's always admirable to see kids dying in media. Since children dying in media is always so looked down on it shows that the developers have balls and adds more shock and emotional value to it
This scene is def disturbing but not rly handled well. The Protagonist had literally no reaction to 2 children being brutally murdered. It would've been more sad if you could hear him panicking and wishing that he could save them.
@Anthony Johnson Skyrim has voice lines of kids dying, just a simple flick of the code will enable them to be able to die.

this game is the reason modern games lack such spine and balls for the sake of story, setting and tone. no hate intended, this game really did raise the bar for shock value
Playing this game for the first time today. I know I'm late asf. But I could not fucking believe my eyes when I saw that shit just now. I just had to come to TH-cam to see others thoughts on it. This game is fucking something else. But I'm loving it so far! This game is just super interesting and unique in almost every way I can think of. The weapons are cool as fuck and super alien looking and I'm all here for it.
The only slight gripe I have, is that the basic alien trooper guys just kinda feel like you're shooting generic soldiers from any other game since the rifles they're using might as well be firing bullets (idk what kind of ammunition it uses.) Just a tiny little nitpick though, other than that - this game is phenomenal so far!

I like how people say they can't think of another game that had the balls to kill kids, but everyone seems to forget that both Dead Space 1 & 2 had alien parasites that trans-mutated corpses into Alien-Undead monsters.
And in both Dead Space 1 & 2 there were monsters that looked like infants and children. The baby-like creatures that had those 3 tentacles that hopped on the walls and shot spikes a you, the Child-sized imp-like creatures that always attacked in packs with their hi-pitched squeaking, and the Baby Larva Bombs.
I'll admit Prey did have some balls to test some deep waters, but it's nothing compared to Dead Space 1 & 2.
Fallout 1/2 iirc you could murder literally everyone, women and kids included.

Yeah but in either game those aren't children, those are zombies. In the first game they aren't even actual children, or they were never intended to be, they're cloned fetuses that they harvest for stems cells so they can regrow people lost limbs. The necromorphs just got to those fetuses and turned them. In the second game you never see any of those children get turned either, your just fighting their dead corpses. Obviously the implications are messed up, but you never see one of those infectors crawl on top of a kid and violently kill them.
