100 wears without a wash! Makes me happy this is on TH-cam and not Smell-O-Vision!
No smell at all!
wow a new upload, best believe ill watch it from start to finish
Appreciate the love!
@@JamesHerlihy next wash if u want to, try adding vinegar and boiling water into the tub next time. I do this for my denim, to really clean out the dirt and get a high contrast fade.
@@joshuapauls.baylon1568 good to know! Thanks for the help
simple rule to buy unsanforized (STF denim). Is buy a comfortable waist size. on the looser side but should still fit without a belt never buy the denim if the waist is tight or border line tight. u will lose 1-1.15 inch in waist even with a cold soak. u will get almost an inch back after wear. Length buy 3 inches longer or even 4 if you like to cuff your denim. the length does not come back.
Agreed. Great insight.
When I saw your shorts video when you did the fit I instantaneously thought good luck wearing them after the first wash XD
I wore them all week. They are tight in some places but not bad at all. Also losing a little weight.
Great wash. I recently got some Orslow 107 in June as my first pair of raw denim so Im curious to see what'll change once I do wash them later this fall. Love the progression videos.
Enjoy them! It's going to be a fun journey!
Hey James , thank you for your content . Love your boots collection! Can I ask you what kind of equipment you use for the videos ?
For sure!
I'm still pretty new so I don't have a crazy set up and I tend to go the path of most resistance. I use a Sony A7c with a 20mm 1.8 lense I think I have a mic go mic as well. Personally I would go Fuji. Looking at the X-s20. Seems like a great camera and half the price. Might sell my Sony stuff.
@@JamesHerlihy thank you 🙏… still looking around . Not sure what to buy …
Hello.
Thanks for the nice and informative video.
I'm a 30 but on this model the 30 got very snug on the waist, that means I should get a 32 or a 33? I have only the options of getting the same exact measures of yours 33/34 or 31/34 (they're on sale now) but I'm confused about what size should I get them.
Thanks in advance. 🤓
Thank you! I would at least go to a 31 personally. Maybe a 32. Honestly it's up to how tight you like it.
i got a pair of selvedge black denim and i forgot this part before first wash... (now theres some white steaks... i dont hate it but rather not have them) is it worth re-dying them and start again or should i just someone fix it by just wearing them ?
What do the streak look like? Does it kinda look like a spiderweb?
@@JamesHerlihy not like that. It’s more like where the folds happens, there’s a streak. I googled it some people say it might be undissolved washing powder but I doubt it is, from the look of it I think it’s probably actual colour fade during the washing machine. (I’ve tried just soaking it with warm water afterward and the streak didn’t go so don’t think it’s detergent) I think the only solution I have now is to just continue wear it more and wash it more frequently so when it fades to dark grey the streak will just blend in/disappear ( I’m not too fussed with whisker or anything I just like the look of worn in jeans)
Yeah I'm the same way I prefer a more even fade. I would wear them and let them fade.
Rits
If you use unscented detergent then you won't be rubbing perfume on your nice jeans. I recommend using a washer and dryer. It is way easier.
Appreciate the insight!
Hi man, after few wears, did the waist of this 501 stretched?
Yeah they would stretch out after about 20ish wears give or take.
@@JamesHerlihy thx for your answer. I bought mine yesterday. This denim is amazing. Your vidéos actually helped me to make my choice with the 501 1954. So thx ;)
@@remycalabrese6065 for sure dude! Enjoy it!
How was the shrinkage?
Honestly not bad. Measurements are in my description.
Let me get this straight! You have a pair of Levi's jeans that were made on the year of my birth, 1954? That is incredble? GQ.....
They are reproductions of the 1954 great jeans!
501's with a zipper?
yes sir the 1954 levis 501z
Go get them dry cleaning and injoy your day.
Soak them in cold water and wear them , you might get them to stretch.
Good call thanks!
Hey! I have had a project pair that i have worn almost everyday and washed like 3 time in a year. At first they were a great raw indigo color but after a year and a half they came into the awkward phase where theyre not dark or light wash. If you want a vintage fade, I would recommend washing them as often as possible, and even as one of the Naked&Famous employees said, add some bleach to the wash. Im picking up a new pair because I want to achieve the "vintage levis" look and will try to wash them as often as I can. Contast fades are cool, but as someone who is into fashion its unlikely to wear the same pants everyday as well as it will take like 2-3 years for them to look decent. Hope it helps
Great insight! Thanks for the help!
can vouch for the bleach, saw a redditor do it on ironhearts and looks SICK and natural
Two years is wrong....:)
You keep calling it "Cone's Mill" when it's Cone Mills. That is all.
Appreciate the correction!
