    I just bought one of these a few weeks ago and i finally hooked it up and everything on it works.
    The channel selector and volume knob are a little scratchy but that's no big deal. My meter light is completely out until i key up though.
    Mine has about the same wattage output as yours does.
    I stumbled onto this video because I wanted to increase power to 4 watts but it sounds great on my sdr and since no one has ever been inside it, I think I'm going to just clean it up and leave it alone.
    Thank you for such an in depth video.

    It is a good ch 19 base station for answering drivers requesting local information, etc.

    Be cool to have the ANL circuits schematic. Love to add adj.ANL to other radios.

      Cool idea

      Back in the day, the ANL circuit was a diode and maybe a capacitor or two. Since they had a tendency to make the sound "muddy" the CB radio magazines published ANL bypass circuits for the most popular models. Usually it was just a switch to bypass or short the diode, but fancier techs would install a 1 megohms pot instead of a switch. That allowed users to vary the effectiveness of the ANL.

    Ambient radio noise level is a science all to itself. If you have a consistent noise level then you have to be Sherlock Holmes and track it down.
    First thing is to put a battery operated radio on the antenna and note what the noise level is. Then turn off the house power. If the level goes down then turn all of the distribution circuit breakers off and restore main power. Turn one breaker on at a time and see what happens. If you find a noisy circuit, turn it off before closing another breaker. You may have an electric blanket on one circuit and a fish tank heater on another. Once you've tested the circuits begin searching for the source.
    Sometimes it comes from outside. Ever since the power company installed a new smart meter a pulsing signal centered on 152.485 MHz has been destroying my scanner. I turned my house off and the noise changed. I took a laptop and SDR and verified that it's the meter.

      I played this game on my house 4 yrs ago, on hot days I would get a large amount of noise. It would come over all radios in the house, I took my trusty AMFM Radio outside and walked around only to find the noise was in my yard or house. I went to the outside breaker box and started throwing breakers. I finally found that one breaker stopped the noise, come to find out I had a doorbell transformer making the noise, when I found it under insulation it was very hot! I replaced and zero issue since.

    Does this unit have the same board as one of the realistic trc-23X models

    • @390WagonMaster
      @390WagonMaster  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is that the model before the TRC30A ? If its the one I'm thinking of then yes this board is close, I think the Realistic in a later version of this radios board but i'm not 100%. I don't know much about these rigs. Cheers

      @@390WagonMasterYes, the TRC-23 series preceded the TRC-30/A.

    those are classics, it's better they're kept all original as they came from the factory.
