I have a question. I have a 2015 Kia optima. I took everything apart. I’m about to get my regulator in the mail. Is there anything I need to do to it before I put it on? Do I just have to bring the window halfway like you did in your video and reattach everything or is there anything that has to be done with the spools? Is it pretty much ready to go from the package?

Not sure why my 2014 Optima would be different, but I didn't need to bother the outside door handle or latch to unplug those 2 plugs as they were easily accessible from the inside of the door panel. The rest of the procedure was identical.

If you’re having trouble lining up/connecting the window clamps/bolt with the actual regulator read this comment!!!
Seems like a lot of people are having trouble with this step and I’m not sure why every single video leaves this part out, but as you’re probably aware the window doesn’t just easily push down once you have the new regulator connected, therefore making it hard to reinsert the bolt that holds the window together with the regulator. Here’s how to fix:
    1) Make sure your window glass is inserted and all the way up. I used a suction cup to hold the window in place, but you can probably get by with duct tape.
    2) Make sure you’ve reconnected the actual power window motor to the new regulator.
    3) Now this is the actual tricky part that took me hours to figure out. Reconnect ALL the paneling and wiring necessary so that you can actually plug in the main connector of the power window motor (white plug) to the actual door panel that has the window up/down buttons.
    4) Once that is plugged in, power on the electrics of your car and test the up/down buttons. If you’ve reconnected everything correctly, you should now be able to lower/raise the window regulator clamps that hold the window in place.
    5) Using the buttons, lower the clamps just enough so that the bolt’s hole (idk what to call it) lines up with the hole you’ll be sticking the bolt through. You’ll have to disconnect the power window plug from the door panel and remove it to see if you’ve lined it up correctly. This may take a few tries.
    6) Once it’s lined up, disconnect the main connector of the power window motor from the door panel and set the panel aside.
    7) Using your hands to hold the window in place, you can now remove the suction cups/duct tape to carefully lower it until it meets the clamp you’ll be bolting together. (Since you’ve already lowered it, you should be able to see the grooves the window slides into on the sides. Make sure the glass is inside of those grooves.)
    8) Now that everything’s lined up, you can successfully insert the bolt.
    9) You can now continue with reconnecting everything and you’re done.
    10) Drink a beer and pat yourself on the back because you just did a $1000 repair by yourself
If this helped, like this comment so others can see it. And also, fuck Kia!!!
TLDR: You need to reconnect the power so you can lower the window grooves enough to where they line up with the holes you’ll be sticking the bolt through.

I got my regulator that goes to my right front door. I have everything set up but The clamps that the glass fits in, not the actual clamp, but the other one that screws in won’t sit properly in its place. Do you have any advice or anything I should be doing. Should I be putting on the motor after I put the window in place

If the problem was the window regulator you would have heard a crunching grinding sound. The motors generally don't go bad. Options
      A) Try changing the window switch
      B) Do a web search for power window repair and the city you are in and pay a local company to fix this for you.
      C) Drive the car to Tampa, FL I'll take a look

My rear right window randomly stopped responding to all power requests from driver panel and passenger panel to go up or down. I'm wondering if that indicates it's just the motor that is bad or the whole regulator panel.

how ironic, I'm in Florida too and just covered this same issue in my recent video. I was curious to see if people with the same vehicle up north had the same issue?
Maybe the silicon or grease they use is drying up causing the possible pop of the wire. Up North the wear on rubber and grease is effected a little differently, look how our dashboard crack down here in Florida.

    • @PowerUpAuto

The heat tends to dry out the plastic that holds the cables on. Causing them to come off the brackets. OR the gear inside the regulator strips out (more common). vI know a guy in my area who could 3d print the gears but still no way to rewrap the cables onto the regulator.
Do you do this as a business? What's your web site?
I checked out your video. Very good. BUT, how do you not have a cordless screwgun? I have the best luck with Bosch. Live forever and great customer service.

You might need to loosen the 10mm bolts that hold the glass to the track. You can certainly destroy the panel in any way necessary since you will be replacing the entire panel anyway. Just drill (with a hole saw) holes where the bolts line up with the round access points you would normally use. And by the way, any chance you simply had the window lock (driver door) on?

You don't need to remove door handle or latch. The wire retainers can be pushed in next to latch. Pull rubber grommet around wire from regulator panel, but gently as it is attached to wires. Once everything is loose you can drop black panel and access wire connections just inside door.
