Speaking for myself, I can only say, I don’t even bother to open my SNKRS app for hype kicks I might want. I’m over their shut up and take what I’ll give you mentality. It’s become a joke, while other brands are happy to sell me Kicks I like. It’s not like I expect to get every hype release, but to take L’s on literally every hype drop is demoralizing. If I really really want the Kicks, I’m forced to pay resell or go to other brands, I choose the latter.

the problem is they killed their own silhouettes.. saw trends so over saturated the market - dunk lows, jordan 1's being the two main offenders.. then everyone has a pair. but when there is a limited release it's a shit show and mainly goes to resellers (see: Futura, Travis Scotts, Bode, etc.. etc..etc..) so this just creates bad feeling from long time buyers. I dont want another fucking pair of pandas that everyone is wearing, and im not paying resell anymore with the amount of backdooring going on, all they need to do is find a proper balance between over saturation and too limited. false scarcity is utter bullshit.

Another trend that Nike missed is the explosion in hiking, trail runners and Gorpcore. There are two sides in those, those seriously pursuing trail running as a sport and second those who pursue it a fashion, an offshoot of Athleisure. Salomon has grabbed a stronghold on these markets, along with Hoka, Altra, Merell, Columbia, Vasque, Keen, and Northface. Even though Nike does have trail shoes, they seem more of the casual fashion type. Nike ACG also caters to the fashion lifestyle and the Gorpcorp, using the Nike strategy of reviving old retros but again playing follower to the likes of Salomon and Hoka which are constantly introducing cutting edge designs for these markets.

I bet there’s a pivot point on the Nike supply and demand curve that would solve their problem completely. Ya know… more supply, slightly lower price, way more demand. Do it on the shoes people ACTUALLY want. And for the more experimental colorways on retro Jordan models, drop that retail price to like 140-150, people will actually buy

It's because Nike and Jordan brand raises the price every year even when the economy isn't doing good and sneakers aren't a necessity and resellers buying them all even though QC got worse makes Nike think people will spend more money on cheaper quality goods and they raise the prices even more. But people don't have as much disposable income so it's really stupid for them to raise the prices every year when we all know how much they used to cost when retro Jordans released and they haven't improved the sneaker technology, they just raised the price. If it wasn't for sneaker resellers Jordan 1 high OG's would still be costing $130 to $140 and Jordan 4's and 5's would still be costing $180 to $190 like they did before StockX. Retro Jordans are sneakers from the 80's and 90's and the Jordan 1 was a $65 sneaker when it released and the technology is the same as back then but now cost $180
