A guy on a motorbike asked me for directions to Parr Hall in Warrington in '94. I told him to follow me. When there he asked me if I'd got tickets, when I said yes, he said pity, I'm the drummer I could've got you in free...
Liz is nuts with it,... so so so W0W.... what is wrong with this lady.. she is the real deal,.. so proud that by then that they were pulling off a somewhat normal sound compared to earlier stuff....what the heck though..she get's me all choked up.
yeah and what a REAL treat... just think if you were told "SOME" band was going to be playing and we need some extra's 4 our audience.. and then your sitting there and then THIS happen's,...someone had there life changed that night.....4 sure. totally unexpected.
I first discovered The Cocteau (Treasure) when I was 13. By that time, I was reading for the first time The Lord of the Rings. Then, I somehow believed The Cocteau were some kind of Elven-people escaped from JRR Tolkien's metempsychosistic world. I am 50 now, and I still "believe" it...
I thought Milk & Kisses was a departure from their standard releases. For me, the music on Milk & Kisses was delivered in a way that was more accessible to my ear. Their earlier albums were melodic but muddied, hard to hear. Sure, the emotional outpouring was there but too hard to fully appreciate. Don’t get my nitpicks wrong, I have almost all their releases. Feel free to disagree!
Lisa Gerrard is better. Fraser is just a second rate Miki Berenyi at this period. She reached her vocal peak with Head Over Heels then it's all downhill after she started singing in that annoying operatic chanteuse style.
Liz is unique - throughout her career. There is no other vocalist who you'd mention in the same sentence. Meaningless comparisons demean both her and Lush - heavily influenced though they were by CT
Lush were an ok band that had a few great songs and a lot of meh ones. Their popularity was mostly held up by young men’s obsession with the two ladies playing guitar. Their best songs are the ones Robin had a hand in and when they tried to distance themselves from his production and become more of a straight ahead britpop band they become rather uninteresting rather quickly. The Cocteau twins wrote the blueprint that all bands of that era followed and that most bands trying to do dreampop to this day still copy: the production, guitar and effects style, vocals, etc. Often copied but never duplicated and certainly never bested. On their best day Lush couldn’t even hope to be a shadow of what this band could do.
Late reply, but spot on. Frankly, I never understood the appeal of Lush. I've listened to music from all around the world, CT were one of the most unique and incredible bands ever. And Liz being one of the most transcendant vocalists of the 20th century.
I like Lush and CT, no need to drag any other band down. This guy is just a troll. It's route 101 for fishing for an argument, insult, compare to other artists (feigning knowledge) and sit back. Rather pathetic. Miki and Liz's vocals are so different (I love both!), the fact that he compared them is actually laughable. Someone should put down their 4ad sampler album and go to a concert.

so cool
Fucking awesome
Which drummer?
I think about this comment from time to time. Glad I was able to find it again.
I can't get enough of Tishbite these days.
TheRabidglow I feel ya
Yes
I know her sister!
It's in the top 10 or so most-played songs on my iTunes (I'm America's last iTunes user, I know!) and some days I just have it on repeat.
To sit at a table and be serenaded by
The Cocteau Twins must have been
awesome
The range of her voice is absolutely psychedelic
That ending wasn't even necessary... she just goes with what she feels at the moment, and always comes up with something beautiful. I love her.
Needless to say . the arrangement was butchered
I was in the audience for this, I met Liz later and we had a chat and a cig outside the local pub.
What country was this in? Any idea if there's an higher quality in video land?
The most beautiful voice without exception.
Wow-Liz is really on form here. Absolutely nailed it, and the band sounds great too. I think they went out on top.
One of my top songs in the album
I adore this and just cannot stop playing it.
Pure beauty, it is like a dream
How in the world does she sound so good
Still Brilliant after all these years! I miss them so very much!
The end is beautiful ❤️
So beautiful ❤️
hahaha the ending. oh Liz, angel...
love the vocals at the end
Sounds absolutely perfect, but imagine that mic had more reverb added, allowing her previous notes to blend and harmonize with her current ones
Rich and uplifting.........since 1979!!
I Love Cocteau Twins!! (from Treasure to Milk & Kisses).
Beautiful noise with an angelic sicodelic voice.. I love Cocteau Twnis 🎶❤️✨🧙🏼♂️✨🎸
Moved me to tears
Everlasting Cocteaus and Liz
Milk and Kisses is AMAZING !!
She's a very remarkable lady.
I love you Liz
I can't believe I missed seeing them live that year.
A banda da minha vida! Faz parte de mim
Liz is nuts with it,... so so so W0W....

Right !, who's the knob who's given this the thumbs down ?, Have sword with yes self ! 😎
Cocteau twins lo más grande en música
I'm in love
Better than the album version I reckon.
No doubt one of the very few times they had a real , live
honest to goodness drummer
They are the band of my dreams
yeah and what a REAL treat... just think if you were told "SOME" band was going to be playing and we need some extra's 4
our audience.. and then your sitting there and then THIS happen's,...someone had there life changed that night.....4 sure. totally unexpected.
love this to bits - another 5 star post
Piękne
SPlendid!
I love this band. And Liz is the best.
About the same time I saw them live. Where does this stuff keep popping up from?! Cheers!!
takes a whole minute to make that drop
mmmmmmmm
How cozy
Thanks for this vid !
Freaking epic

funny, liz made some songs for the films soundtrack because who better than her
Hey good comment bro , you are using my acount for long now...don't you want to create your own ? Are you even in France ? 🤣🤣
@@Lolipop2080 huh?
@@hedonist4antasy i am talking to myself because someone else is using my acoun. It is not my comment the first one
All my youth is in that song.
As so often in their live performances... the wall of sound Liz has to battle....
fucking awesome
The audience wasn't quite sure about the timing
haha still orgasmic
So Kind of Liz to carry the band thru the years .
I'll just say it ... this band would not have been as successful
without precious Elizabeth
All these people in the audience... they don't really know how lucky they are... to meet them in a live concert
they must have placed this twice to get all the coverage for the video.
No question that the band
followed Elizabeth quite evident
so different than the studio version
Somehow not a single shot of Mitsuo. Good job, cameraman! 😒
Bands I wish I saw live: The Beatles - The Smiths - Cocteau Twins
Who the heck downvoted? Have you no souls?

Head aching
Liz and her backing band at their best.
🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈
Absolutely dreadful sound but very interesting performance
the bum notes are kind of weak but we have no idea of what
went on beforehand
mozart would have liked this
