The first picture reminded me of a baby wrapped in a blanket and the second just felt lonely. I think art therapy is so beautiful. You can see the way you feel, even when you may not notice those feelings.
This was really good! What I liked most about it was that the mock session eventually turned into a semi real counseling session. Good use of techniques!
This is such a great video so inspirational. I am thinking of going into this field of work ! You put a lot into perspective. You started off using art therapy which turned into a real insightful counseling session. You prompted her with such good questions for self-reflection. I mean seriously everything was great in this video! lol thanks for sharing!!!!!!
Thank you for this! My professor assigned it for us to use for our homework if we did not have our own session to work with. Just wanted to note that the sound quality needs improvement. The voices are difficult to hear at times and there is background noise when the volume is turned up. There is also no closed captioning to help with this.
beautiful process and the first piece is so nice to look at too! I feel like she definitely had a good sense for putting her inner feelings down on paper, and she seemed quite adept at interpreting it too, especially with the black lines framing the first image... do you think the client needs to have that kind of aptitude in order for art therapy to be fruitful?
In most cases yes. The Art Therapist might play music or ask the client questions while they create. But, the are therapist should definitely be noting what the client is doing and how they utilize the medium as well as what they say to the therapist. In this mock session, however, just to save time in this video we didn’t represent that part of the session.
Well demonstrated. Thank you for being vulnerable, taking risk and sharing your growth as a therapist.

so in an art therapy session, do the clients produce another piece each session? or how does it work?
Does the art therapist usually watch the client as they draw, paint, etc?
